Good lord this team looks like shit. People focus on the faceoffs a lot and they definitely aren't good but this team also goes extended periods of time without being able to complete two passes in a row which in my estimation is an even bigger problem.

IDK, this team plays like it's scared to make a mistake and plays with zero creativity and super formulaic sometimes. I'm not one who has been overly critical of Motzko because generally the good far outweighs the bad during his time here but it's hard to look at what we've seen the past month and think this team has been playing to its talent level more often than not. At first I thought it was a matter of playing down a bit to bad opponents, guys coming back from injury, and lack of chemistry due to WJC/injuries. Now IDK.Is it just me or are we playing a trap? The game isn't over and they're certainly capable of turning it around and winning but I'm just kinda perplexed at what I'm watching with this team sometimes.

Yeah even on faceoffs so that’s good We picked it up and played well the last 5 minutes. Rinzel and Huglen in particular not great early but Soulierre kept them in it.

Part of the issue is how the stat is tracked, there's a good amount of subjectivity involved on ones that raen't won cleanly. In theory you can win a faceoff to a teammate who gets his stick whacked and loses it immediately, but that might be considered a win. Either way puck possession was poor in general that period.There is NO way we are even on faceoffs....

So many of these 2 way calls wouldn't even happen or need to be called that way if they just called the rulebook. Like there's no retaliation or embellishment if they call penalties on the initial infraction, that's not even getting into the missed call where Pahlsson was hauled down or IDK how many penalties they just outright ignore every game. If there was still a question before tonight regarding who the #1 goalie is this year, that question has been answered. Souliere stole this game for the Gophers on several occasions.
