The boys flight from MSP went without a hitch albeit it was slightly delayed due to I think having to de-ice.  The next morning their flight from LAX to ICN was also fine and they'll land in a few hours, then wait for their flight to here in Clark.  We'll see them in 10 hours.

The interesting thing of it all is. She a travel nurse and she has her heat off or really low when she travels, and her house is in Iowa.

So, IF her pipes would freeze with enough time at -10, then yes, the wind chill will likely cause them to freeze faster.

If her pipes won't freeze at -10, the wind chill won't make any difference.

Well, it is possible that a house with no wind would not have pipes freeze at -10, but the same house would have pipes freeze at -10 with strong winds.  The strong wind will strip heat away from the house much quicker than with no wind.  The heat within house will slowly diffuse through the air in the walls and insulation.  The rate of heat diffusing through the walls at -10 may be sufficient to keep the pipes from freezing.  But as the heat is stripped away quickly in a strong wind, the rate of heat moving through the walls may not be enough to keep the pipes from freezing.

Also, if your house is not well insulated there can be breezes in the walls that you don’t feel in the living space if the house.  That can add to the heat loss on windy days.

So no, your house or pipes will not get to -25 in the temp is -10, but the strong winds CAN cause the pipes to freeze when they otherwise would not at the same temp and no wind.

No idea why the first paragraph in bolded.

A cold beer, my recliner, and my family safe at home after a long weekend of crap traveling.  The time in-between the traveling was nice though, it was good to see my father-in-law before his throat surgery early in January.

I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!

Just bid goodbye to my brother and his family who came up for Christmas. It was a pure pleasure to spend a few days with them, nothing fancy just relaxing.  My niece is a professional bartender at a swank joint so she took over the bar.  Nephew baked individual fruit hand pies shaped like Christmas trees!  We had fondue on Christmas Eve and a traditional turkey and fixings on Christmas Day.  Yes, per an earlier worry post, the 13 lb turkey got eaten!  We played cards, a game called Mixed Tape and had a great time.  I was truly sorry to see them go this morning.
We’re staying in on New Years, Dim Sum and champagne by the fire.

What have I got? I got no snacks and I got no respect.

I'm pretty sure one of those houses belonged to the previous owner here.   You could debate which one but I've found some absolutely mind boggling stuff in here.   The contractor here remodelling our bathrooms has also found a few interesting things even in the last couple months.

I’ve gotten those for my nephew.  I tried one and lost the gamble.  Out of approximately 30 beans I innocently choose vomit!  Never again?

I've seen a couple apt. bathrooms that bad while doing apt. management for over 20 years.  How in the world any human being can live that way is so mind boggling.

Flying Delta.

Like any airline they have had their share of challenges but Delta's ability to recover during and after events (weather, software, crew shortages) is far above average IMHO.  Walking through John Wayne airport yesterday passengers on several (Southwest & a couple other lower cost carriers in particular) just looked defeated.  I know there are many who love SW but geesh between them, Sun Country, and a few others I just don't see the risk-reward being worth it.  Travel already has too many moving parts and a tendency toward reliability is worth it to me.

I bet it was a guy’s bathroom.  Living with one I can tell you they accept a lot more filth than women folk do.  😉

Thank goodness for separate bathrooms!

I cleaned the bathrooms at the downtown Mankato Buffalo Wild Wings back when it existed for a year or so, and also cleaned bathrooms for Anoka County Parks for a few summers. The women’s rooms were worse in both situations. Not a terribly large sample size, I know, and could be more of an indictment of Mankato and Anoka County ?

Agreed.  Also the few times I've flown United (usually to Newark), it has been great.

When I cleaned bathrooms for McDonald's it was the women's bathrooms that were the worst.  I still can't believe all the tiny bits of toilet paper all over the place.

But I once passed out on the floor of a bathroom in an apartment lived in by 5 college guys after a very hard night in Mankato.  I woke up thinking I was laying on shag carpet....it was tile. ?

I knew the head custodial guy when I worked for Carlson Marketing on 55 and he would relay stories about how the lady's rooms were so much worse than the men's.  He said the one real pain for the men was having to pick up sections from the Strib left on the floor in pretty much every stall a few times per day.

I worked at a drug store in the 90's when I was in high school and the women's bathroom was always worse than the men's (I had to occasionally clean them).  And that was just employee use - they weren't open to customers.

My dad’s encounter yesterday while walking to fill the bird feeders at my parents place in Apple Valley. It’s interesting how they have more deer in their yard in Apple Valley, than they have at the cabin in Montana. Now black bears are a whole other story. The pepper gun is always locked and loaded for them.

My father-in-law coming through a difficult surgery this morning.  He had an enlarged goiter in his upper chest area that was putting pressure on his vocal cords, carotid artery, and trachea.  Two things about the surgery going in they thought they might have to crack his sternum to get at it fully and then the surgery would take about six hours.

Surgery took half the time and they didn't crack his chest open.  His recovery time should decrease significantly now that they didn't crack his chest open.  I couldn't be happier for him that it went so well.

As a father of a special needs child, love seeing this. Kudos to these kids and kudos to their parents for raising their kids right. It’s such a blessing to see kids treat your special needs child like one of them. And the handful of children who take your child under their wing and truly befriend them.

And Minnetonka does have some funky boundaries. I live in Mtka, but I go a couple blocks any which way but west, and I'm in one of 3 different cities.

Isnt that the same for Woodbury/Stillwater/Cottage Grove?!?!?!

It’s the same for Apple Valley/Lakeville/Rosemount and you can add Farmington.

Most of Woodbury, Cottage Grove, St. Paul Park, Newport, Denmark Township are in the same district, 833.  There are parts of Woodbury in the Stillwater district and another small chunk in the NSP/Maplewood/Oakdale district and there may be some parts of Cottage Grove and/or Denmark Township in Hastings.  Not 100% on the latter.

The worst area is Brooklyn Center, New Hope, Crystal, and the rest of that mess.  My brother in law grew up in BC and is still unsure where some of those boundaries are.  He went to Robbinsdale but within a few streets in different directions kids went to Park Center or Brooklyn Center schools and maybe another one I can't recall.

Oh come on Rube it wasn't because of funky boundaries.   ?  It was likely as Karlsson noted which is no big deal my comment was in jest.
