The amazing success Kori has had with Kraken The Box.

https://www.youtube.com/@krakenthebox/about

If you're not familiar, he's 11, and after several heart surgeries, including two transplants, is on palliative care.  Got in touch with Make-a-wish and said he wanted to get a YouTube channel with 100,000 subscribers (to get the nice silver play button plaque) before he passes.

YouTube's automatic algorithms shut down the channel temporarily because he went from brand new channel to 100k subscribers in less than a week.  YT did get that fixed and are fast-tracking the plaque to get there before Christmas.

4 days to 1000 subs

4 more to 10,000

The next day, after Johnny Depp, Dwayne Johnson and some others started retweeting messages, he hit 100,000.  (That was Tuesday)

Tonight, he's passing 194k

He has an Amazon wish list... And included stuff for his younger sister, because he's been getting so much attention/stuff/etc, and she's not.

Couple in Alabama this month… ‘ 1 in 133,000' occurrence. Mom, dad, newborn daughter all share same birthday. Seems awful low.

You're right, that is low.  Any two random people having the same birthday is 1 in 133,225 (assuming they didn't meet because they shared a birthday, of course).  Add the third person, and it's over 1 in 48 Million (assuming the parents didn't focus their efforts to try for a particular day)

Edit:  Not accounting for leap years/days/etc

Informing people that windchill only affects skin.  If it's -10° and wind chill is -25°. It may feel like -25°, but it's still -10° for everything else.  Wind chill doesn't affect your house, car or any other object.  Wind chill isn't going to make your pipes freeze faster at your house as one co-worker was trying to say.

Then why is it so much colder today in the rooms on the west side of our house compared to the east side? Could it be the 45 mph nw wind driving the cold through the wall? The windows are the same all around so its not that.

That's structure and eventual flaws in a building/house.  Has nothing to do with wind chill.  Of course, the wind can blow through windows and seep through siding/insulation.  But to those windows, siding, insulation and so on, it's still the outside temp. Not the windchill temp.

So, the "wind chill" does affect houses/cars/etc, but only in that it causes them to get closer to the ambient air temperature faster.  The cold air blowing at the object basically pulls heat away.

Sounds like the pipes will freeze faster in Gator's co-workers house when the wind chill is lower.

I'll still disagree. Cause I think we are talking about 2 different things. Like Steve mention wind chill will help get it too ambient temp, but it'll not be wind chill temp.  Those water pipes will be at whatever the temp is, not the wind chill temp.

If the heat's out, sure.  If they still have heat in the house, I wouldn't expect it to.

The interesting thing of it all is. She a travel nurse and she has her heat off or really low when she travels, and her house is in Iowa.

So, IF her pipes would freeze with enough time at -10, then yes, the wind chill will likely cause them to freeze faster.

If her pipes won't freeze at -10, the wind chill won't make any difference.

This makes me think of the house next door to us.  For awhile it was rental and 4 young people, techies from CA, lived there.  We were sitting in our sunroom one morning and noticed heavy frost on the inside of the windows. Renters were gone for the holidays so we texted the owners.  Turns out the renters turned off the heat, like COMPLETELY, before they left to save money.  The pipes froze and burst, almost every radiator in the house cracked, the dishwasher broke, walls/Sheetrock were water damaged, wood floors were ruined.  Over $125,000 of damage that took almost 6 months to repair.
They battled insurance because the company said it was a deliberate act.  It was a nightmare.
After the house was repaired they sold it, being landlords was too stressful.  But on a positive note, we got lovely new neighbors who we really like.

What have I got? I got no snacks and I got no respect.

Not a dime since the owners sued their asses to recover repair funds.  They didn’t know any better, they had no idea you couldn’t turn off the heat.

lol, it’s like my friends in Florida.  They say newbies turn off the AC for a week when they’re gone and come back to mushrooms growing on the carpet.

I randomly found out that if using a laptop (or I suppose a desktop) that the mouse affects the movement of the snowflakes in the background. That's actually kinda cool. 😀

I see that if I’m on the main portal page, or in a thread click on the little snow box; until I start scrolling then it reverts.

I love the snow effect!

I promise I plan to get a new phone soon…but no way I’m going to do that during the holidays.   Hoping there will be some after Xmas deals.  ?

Getting together at a local brewery, per tradition of 7 years or so. Pretty much only the regulars and the staff that volunteers for the shift (and yes, current and former staff show up to hang out). It's like hanging out at a buddy's house at this point. The calm before the family storm/circus/whatever category you want to use. 😉

Lots of hugs and cheer and merry wishes. The true Christmas spirit. Smile
