I’ve had a pretty basic 1080P 60“ Sharp for about 10 years now and never seriously looked to replace. 4K content has just never fully taken off.

My philosophy on the primary TV (which our DLP is) is to buy top of the line so you stay as far ahead of obsoleted technology as possible.   I think the TV we bought in 2005 cost $3500 but other than two new fans we've never had a problem with it.  If it doesn't die then we'll replace it when we get around to remodelling the main floor of the house (we have windows to pay off now and are remodelling our upstairs bathrooms)

For the basement we bought a Samsung 4K which is nice but we intentionally chose not to break the bank on it, even though the 65" OLEDs were very tempting.  There's a huge difference in picture quality though from the 1080p and the services we have seem to have a fair amount of 4k content.

Living vicariously through your kids haha. The eldest is in Michigan with the UM Gopher Motorsports team. He has helped with building a car set to be raced vs. teams from dozens of colleges from the US (and at least one from Mexico) at the Michigan International Speedway. He designed the chain-guard and is the backup driver as a Fr. Today they present their design etc. to the judges, and then over the next few days will compete with acceleration, skidpad, autocross and endurance. For a kid that loved his first Hot Wheel since before he could walk I am not surprised by any of this.

I am pretty sure he is not the one holding the file by the working end instead of the handle….

I also put a piece of tape on the floor for the kids to sit behind. 32″ screen was bad enough watching them stand 6″ inches from… lol!!!

32" amd 6"? That's insane. I'm about 7-8' from my tv.

With the newer LEDs the 'formula' is different too.   I forget what they say but I think with 4K TVs you can sit much closer without major problems.

Dammit.  I accidently clicked on a Reusse article. I got excited when I saw an article on Al Shaver and wasn't skeptical enough to look for the Author's name.  I'll be mad at myself for a week.

Today is our 32nd anniversary.  We are going to Creekside Supper Club, I’m already anticipating an ice cream cocktail.  A Pink Squirrel sounds good.  And tomorrow we open the cabin!

What have I got? I got no snacks and I got no respect.

My sister and her hubby went for her birthday and they loved it.  Enjoy, definitely on my to visit list.

Have you been to Red Stag?  Another cool supper club vibe place.

Youngest Eagle graduates today from St. Kate’s with her MLIS!  Not bad for a kid who lost her hearing in high school.

Look for her at a library near you!

I remember her getting cochlear implants but I didn’t know she lost hearing in high school.  Great she graduated.  Congrats

Not quite as cool as graduations but we got a letter last night inviting our 12 year old to a ceremony for kids that received High Honors this year.

School stuff is always a challenge for us but since the year of virtual learning she’s done really well.  The biggest issue is just making sure she’s doing all her assignments

Ch 4 did a nice story about the U of M Children's Hospital Music Therapy Program. Paul Martin donated a bunch of new instruments to it.

For whatever reason I can't post the link here.

It depends on the intentions.  If I donate a guitar to the hospital, nobody cares.  However, for a celebrity, they can actually generate more donations by others by making their donation public.  I didn't read the article, but for example, how many people knew the hospital had a music therapy group that relied on instrument donations?  This may spur others to donate cash, or get some people to think about instruments they no longer use and get them to donate those instruments rather than have them sit around unused.

The celebrity may not be looking for recognition as much as the charity.

Randy Moss did a LOT of appearances and such, but it was under the radar. He didn't want the publicity. He was actually doing it because he wanted to, for the recipients.

I meant to post this a couple weeks ago during all those destructive storms...

There are a couple eagle's nest in my neighborhood.  And it's amazing how the eagle's nest goes pretty much unharmed in a destructive storm and house have sizable damage. A nest of twigs can hold up better then a house of lumber and supplies.

Reminds me of my Jr. year in high school.  Went to funeral of a fellow classmate who was killed in an avalanche. And that evening was the start of Districts for basketball and our 3 week journey to winning State.

Opened the cabin this weekend! Everything worked.  No dead mice.  No trees down.  A rare year.  We came back yesterday and stopped and had lunch at the Shingobee Casino.  Walleye and Chips.  Oh man, so good.  Walleye from Red Lake res, great thin batter coating, chips were more like JoJo potatoes with a spicy salt.  Heading back up on Friday for a week.

Barely ? That’s why we opened this last weekend and not the usual Mothers Day!!  The marina was still frozen and he couldn’t get boats in.

Started planting corn on Monday and finished up the soybeans today. Can't believe I got everything done in a week. Just 10 acres of swamp left that may not get in, which a week ago was about 50 acres. About 3 weeks behind normal. Sounds like some weather coming the next few days.

I misaligned my rib cage this past Friday trying to Mr. Cool on one my kid's scooters.  Finally went to UC on Monday to make sure I didn't break a rib. After a couple of x-rays, no ribs broken. So, I finally got into the chiro today and got adjusted.  This would have been my second time going to a chiro for a misaligned/dislocated rib.  Nothing better than being in pain/discomfort, getting adjusted to almost no pain/discomfort.

The guy at the marina near our cabin just got two Rottweiler puppies, Nuke and Nitro. They are a handful but already very good boys, yes they are.  I’m a sucker for most animals so I’m very happy to see new dogs around.

I'm not sure? His foot has to be on the rubber, and he has to start his pitching motion, as far as I understand.

Clearly the batter knew to stay ready, so this stuff must be expected in this league.  Is this a town ball team or something where they can get away with things like this?

That is hilarious.  Either the ref was in on it or it’s true, you can’t stop the music!

I was thinking the same thing about the ump.

To baseball knowledgist, Just curious… isn’t that a balk?

I’m not sure? His foot has to be on the rubber, and he has to start his pitching motion, as far as I understand.

There has to be someone on base to be a balk, so I'm guessing that the bases were empty.
