I just upgraded to an iPhone 17 from a 14. The battery on my brand new phone seems to be draining faster than it was on my 14 that was struggling with the latest updates. Anyone else with a 17 finding battery life not to be what it was touted?
I haven’t even done any streaming on the new phone yet and haven’t really done much at all with it since I got it yesterday. It lost 10% overnight doing absolutely nothing (whereas the old phone didn’t drop any % at all).
The whole point of upgrading was so I didn’t have to worry about carrying cords and chargers around when I’m away from home for the day.
Curious if this is just life with technology or if this seems abnormal?
Can't speak to iPhones, but I'd give it a day or two to settle in. It could be doing updates/etc in the background that you're not even seeing.
I presume it's hooked up to your WiFi in the house? If not, make sure to set that up, it could be trying to scan networks to join one, and that will eat through battery life. Also, make sure any maps/navigation apps are closed, they're one of the few things that will run in the background on an iPhone from what I'm seeing.

Hoping that’s the case. It is on home Wi-Fi and location services is always off unless needed.
I still have to return the old phone so if this is still happening in the next couple weeks I might see if they can swap for a different one if this keeps up.
It’s disappointing for sure as my 14 could initially be used heavily all day and drop very little battery and it really took until the most recent updates to start draining quick. (so it performed great for over two years!) and now the 17 is starting right where the old one left off. 🤦♀️

either is all the new stuff downloading/updating from new install, some sneaky apps that are always on (check your apps/background activity as sometimes they'll be autoset to run and update continually in background).
as others allude to, if it last past the first week or two, check additional things like your screen brightness (auto brightness updates in winter can really affect the battery life, make sure you have your "sleep mode" settings active (ie basically turns the phone off overnight to app alerts or updates while still getting your texts, calls) and then if its still draining you could've gotten a lemon battery so would take it in. wouldn't make much of it in the first couple weeks

All the settings should be the same as my old phone and I keep it pretty limited what’s on and running when not in use so who knows. Thanks for all the tips!

For what its worth I switched to the 17 pro a couple weeks ago and it seemed slow the first few days. Now it runs way better than my old 13 pro.

Yeah after some more research it looks like it can take a week or two to stabilize and learn your habits and it does seem to be getting a little better each day. I think I was spoiled though with an exceptional battery on my 14 from day one; for over two years I could use it heavily and it would rarely drop below 80% by the end of the day (which probably was an anomaly). An update a few months ago really killed the battery life though. Since I was almost up on my three year contact it made sense to upgrade. With credit from my old phone my monthly payment went from almost $40 a month to about $3. Can’t argue with that!
I really liked the size of the iPhone 8. Upgrade to the iPhone 13 Mini in 2022. Liked the size better than the Pro. Though it is getting harder to read w/o messing with fonts. Not a fan of the larger phones, just starting not to like the mini and want something in between... lol!!!

I’m a big fan of the SEs. Smaller and has the home button, usually with the same amount of storage and speed as the basic version out at the same time. Only downgrade for my purposes is the much more limited camera.

I have 2 sets of IPhone wireless earbuds I am not sure why but to sound volume is Lower on the left side then on the right. I do have a wired head set that I can plug in the sound is normal. Any suggestions on how to fix the wireless earbuds?

yes i did still lower sound on the left side of wireless ear buds, if I plug in wired head set no issues

In my experience, if one ear bud is consistently quieter than the other, it's because there's gunk built up inside that earbud (ear wax/dirt/etc) that needs to get cleaned out. If it isn't that, I have no idea, the fact that wireless earbuds sound the same on both sides means it isn't that your left ear is clogged up, which really just leaves the earbud.yes i did still lower sound on the left side of wireless ear buds, if I plug in wired head set no issues
I know this seems very silly to ask, but did you make sure you checked the audio balance left to right in the headphones settings? Every once in a while when I'm swapping between sources for my AirPods it changes the left to right balance (who knows)...
If you are noticing it on multiple devices, try having your devices forget the AirPods, then reconnect them and see if it still happens. If it's still happening, there's a good chance that the actual speaker on the headphones is kaput.
Also check the spacial setting, of activated it will adjust then sound levels based on your head movements.

I tried this did not fix the audio sound issue with my earbuds, wired head sets work with no issues

I went in they tested both pair of AirPods they told me they have warn out, any suggestions of what to buy as new wireless ear buds, the tech told me to invest in AirPod 4, I am not sure what to buy, Apple keeps coming up with new AirPods but I think they are crap

I bought a pair of JBL earbuds last year to work out in. They were cheaper than the AirPods and still had noise cancelling. It was the Tune series. They’ve been a solid alternative for the AirPods.
A coworker of mine has the Soundcore by Anker earbuds. They say the earbuds are great for work calls and meetings. Again, a cheaper alternative.
I like my Anker Soundcores. Good sound, solid noise-cancelling.

I don’t do earbuds but I have JBL over ear headphones that I love and are affordable. FWIW I have multiple Anker wireless speakers that are great, sound good and affordable. Most importantly, all these pair easily every time.

I know it’s happened, but has any witnessed a 5x3 shorthanded goal on the NCAA or higher level. I may have, just nothing stands out for me to remember.

I like my Jabras. A little more bulky but nice noise cancelling and sound and several models for various price points.
If you're partial to Apple, just get the oldest generation you can get cheaply... I still use gen 2 AirPods and they generally work great!
