At first my wife said it’s $5,000 and I thought no way and looked it. It can be $100… and unlikely enforced.
This is great!!! I’ve heard and seen people butcher a animal I their apt tub, but not in the dorms.
Two Cornell hunted and killed 120 lb black bear. Brought it back to their dorm to skin and butchered it. The act drew lots of complaints, but Cornell said they did nothing wrong… lol!!!
I don’t get why that is great. I guess good on them for finding a loophole in rules, but maybe do it in a different way?
After 20 plus years of apt management and maintenance, nothing surprises me. You just have to laugh. Especially it’s done right and the mess is cleaned up. I would bet the only crime Cornell did looked into, was to see if the gun was brought onto campus and into the dorms. Plus the carcass and the mess was cleaned up and disposed of properly.
The school likely did their due diligence just to make sure there weren't any health code violations given it happened in a shared space and on a campus. And they also want to be sure someone doesn't go crazy and sue for emotional distress or whatever for seeing a dead bear being dragged through their living space. 🤣
I'm not saying that would be justifiable, only that they have to cover all their bases.
Cornell has a long history with black bears. Why not add another interesting chapter.

Things like Formans weren’t allowed in the Mankato dorms when I went there, either.
Of course this didn’t stop most from having them, but it was technically in the rules.
Little appliances like a Foreman grill were for sure a no-no. Microwave and fridge was it. Did these rules stop people? Of course not.

We played hallway baseball a lot until we broke a couple sprinklers and caused a real good amount of damage. Like to think we sped up the demolition timeline of Gage a little bit.
One of my roommates had an alligator in a kiddie pool one year. Took up half the room.
Little appliances like a Foreman grill were for sure a no-no. Microwave and fridge was it. Did these rules stop people? Of course not.

He didn’t bring it to Walmart in a sweater as an emotional support alligator, did he? 😂
We were only allowed microwaves and mini fridges as well. Didn’t stop some from a small Foreman or hot pots. Some would heat things up on hot water radiators in the room.
Sports was also “banned” in the hallways. I couple guys on my floor and myself would play hockey with an actual puck. We got fined to cover the cost of getting all the puck marks off the hallway walls.

The last year they existed was my year there, and we knew this. We carved stuff into the provided furniture, etc, didn't care one bit.

Not a major loss… though it served its purpose for flying back from Vegas first class on the red eye.
I think it’s a huge loss. I certainly never flew Spirit. I saw it as a Walmart in the sky. But I appreciate it kept the People of Walmart off the planes I rode. I was happy to keep the drama and delays on the fugly yellow planes.

I’ve flown Spirit, both 1st class and coach. Coach, you really feel like a fat guy in a little coat. 1st class is the way to go. It’s just like first class with Delta for space. Plus what you pay for 1st class compared to coach on Spirit is pretty much pennies.

The whole MOA water park idea had been talked about for years. Even with Great Wolf Lodge kitty corner from the MOA, the talk has never died. Bloomington has always pushed for being the 3rd city and be more of a tri city.

Went for a drive to a local farmers to pick up eggs, bacon, and some salsas. Was surprised to see the two crops side by side, different farms being harvested by Case combines and not JDs. It seems reds are fewer and farther than greens, especially here in Minnesota.

Do teachers even go to MEA conferences anymore or is it just one big 4 day weekend? I remember over 30 years ago when I was in high school, teachers would go to MEA conferences in Montana. They would talk about it in class lectures. Now days, I assume there's something, maybe online, but does anyone really go.

It is a good time for kids to take a break, (short family trip or college visits) and/or catch up on schoolwork.

ISD 196 was thinking of canceling MEA weekend several years ago and got major from parents and especially teachers. So they never did and the follow suit like every other school district.

I just had a patient who is a school teacher and I asked her about MEA. She says they’re required to go one day during the 2 days, though the conference is not every years. She’s been a teacher for seven years and she’s done it twice.
I bet if you look at the number of attendees vs the number of teachers in the state the attendance is extremely low.

They always are! Peak color is always a few weeks ahead of us, but I love the aspen this time of year in the mountains. We often miss elk rut by a week or two, but it's still fun to see them in Moraine Park on the drive in.
If I could move MEA to the first week in October I would, but it's nice when the crowds die down (especially in town), so it's a good trade off, especially for when we go hiking. We hiked Black Lake and saw a grand total of like two people on the trail, it was awesome.
My maple tree is the last tree to bloom in spring and the last to turn color in the fall in my neighborhood. While almost every tree in my neighborhood is turned colors or already dropped its leaves. My maple tree is still green.
This is a big blow for lots of the metro schools. Mariucci was a great venue for those schools and not limiting number of family members and friends to attend graduation. With schools now scrambling to find new venues could limit graduation attendance for family members and friends.
Though the strain and time placed on Mariucci staff was A LOT. Having to set up and flip up to 3 graduations a day is A LOT. Plus adding more security in the recent year was an issue.
I lost my drivers license last April after taking a drivers test, I asked my doctor to request an other driving test, he refused to submit a request a new drivers test I am 63 years old have had a clean drivers record any suggestions?
