Most players bantam level and up don’t wear mouth guards. Youth hockey has mandated players wear mouth guards with straps but I’ve only witnessed refs enforcing the rule on the lower level bantam teams. I have watched bantam AA games where zero players were wearing mouth guards and the refs gave zero shits.Im surprised on how many high schoolers don’t wear mouth guards and tuck their neck guards.
Players have to wear neck guards but many players undo the Velcro and let them hang so they aren’t so hot… my kid included.

Saw it called once. I was coaching my son's squirt team and my nephew was on the team. Nephew lined up for a face-off and the mouthguard was dangling down. Ref talked to him then came over to tell me if he caught him not wearing it in again it would be ten. Later in the period goofball nephew went out for a shift at center and last thing I said was to remind him he had to wear his mouthguard. Had too! Sure enough the knucklehead went out and sure enough his mouthguard was dangling from his mask so he gets T'd up. 😆
The ref came over after assessing the penalty to apologize but he had to.....I said no worries Kurt the kid f***ed up. Ref happened to be one of my former HS coaches and a great guy.

It's more a dislike of the perception of Spurgeon being pushed by the Wild and company. He's nowhere near the player that we are constantly told he is. I am also fine with the Hughes trade and think Guerin deserves a ton of credit for putting his ass on the line.
Mouthguards are pretty pointless if you're wearing full face protection. Everyone agrees that neck guards are a good idea, but nobody likes to wear them. Invent a neck guard that you can actually move your head while wearing it and you will be a millionaire real quick.
Asking officials to constantly be on the lookout for mouthguards is beyond dumb.

After hearing Guerin on Sunday Sermon, and with tonight's game (and obviously The Wall Of St Paul to switch up with The Gus Bus) the Wild are pushing ALL their chips in this year.

The Wild put a 6-2 beat down on the Boston Bruins who scored twice in the last 9 minutes after the Wild were up 5-0.
The Wild have the 4th most points in the NHL and have beaten each of the three teams with more points the last time they played them Colorado, Dallas, and Carolina.
In October the Wild were 3-6-3. In November and December the Wild are 16-3-2. Just give us the Cup now. 😀

As someone who has shredded Guerin over the years for not understanding the business and financial aspect of his job, it's pretty clear that the players do have a lot of respect for the guy. That obviously counts for quite a bit. Hopefully this is the start of something big

18 years in the league, 2 cups, 3 olympics, 2 as an aGM, US Hockey HoF, and the current Olympics management stuff. I mean the resume is going to go a long way. The players don't care if he knows how to handle the cap/business side as they are just going to assume he knows what he's doing there (same as we generally trust our mechanics, docs, finance bros, etc.)
i would imagine hughes signing is going to depend on team success and fit with the guys. Winning will go a long way in that equation (part of the problem of the Canucks missing 4/5 playoffs was it was going to kill stars wanting to stay there necessarily)

Looking at the possibility of the first outcome, the Wild have the 4th most points in the League, yet would have to go through two of the teams above them and likely a team like Vegas (5th best record) to get there. Central Division and West are just brutal this year. Drawing Dallas in the first round just doesn't seem fair. Could still be a first round exit despite bringing the most talented team they've had.
As for the second outcome, there do seem to be a lot of hockey payers who like to stay in MN, so who knows. And it does seem like he will let Billy know if he plans not to sign early enough for Billy to try to get something decent for him.
I really like Zeev and think he could approach Quinn Hughes in skill level in 4 or 5 yrs, so hard to see him go after waiting a year to see him and watching him start to grow, and the anticipation of what he could become. But at the same time, they now have a superstar forward and D and a near superstar forward along with a great Defensive D or two. Seems that has been the recipe to do well in playoffs. Of course they are missing the big scoring center we would love to see, and a little better secondary scoring. So while it feels like they could use another piece or two, this team is built more like a contender than we have seen.

this is the part that's crazy. despite the recent tear, they are closer to being out of the playoffs than being at the top of the division in terms of points. the central is stacked this year so its actually an interesting spot of would you rather be the C3 team or WC1 and get the pacific one or the central two in the playoffs? lot of this will depend on health and who people get at the deadline, but top of the lineup we now match up with anyone. don't love our depth vs Dallas or Colorado, but i'd probably pick us over Vegas now.
as far as resigning, we'll see. seems that that's what scared off most every club in making a better offer to Van. Doesn't matter a single lick if they win or come close and tbh, Hughes is smart enough to know he needs to say the right things as the Wild are not going to move him this year unless they get sent a crazy haul.

I saw a funny meme on fb about how many parents are scrambling in Vancouver to replace their kids Canucks Hughes jerseys for Christmas.

there are about a dozen guys who I’d think will be higher on the list and more realistic than Crosby.
if the pens are anywhere near the playoff picture they’re not moving him. The Johnston rumor mill is an lol one based on Crosby and guerin being friends and that’s about it.
we don’t have the package now to get Crosby given the PR hit Pitt will take moving him and the fact he’s still a point per game player with a game that translates beautifully to the postseason

Pittsburgh is likely to miss the playoffs for the 4th straight year. The four years before that they lost in the first round/qualifying round (covid season). The last time they won a playoff series was the 2017/2018 season when they lost in the second round.
Crosby and Malkin turn 39 and 40 respectively this coming summer. Trading one or both at the trade deadline this season IMO is definitely a possibility.
