Didn't think this was going to happen considering how Gable was running through the competition and the fact that Hendrickson was a transfer who spent the three previous seasons at Air Force. I think the difference in Hendrickson was coaching by David Taylor at Oklahoma State. I see OK State being the team to break Penn State's dominance and not Iowa.
Anyway, a great career by Gable to be one of the top 5 college wrestlers of all time. I would put this loss at the second biggest in NCAA history only behind Dan Gable to Larry Owings.

Don’t know where else to post this. Happened in the Women’s College World Series. A chunk of dirt kicked up by the pitcher got hit by the pitch and a piece of that hit the catcher in the eye. Miracle that it happened and that the cameras caught it perfectly.

College baseball and even softball must be very expensive for family, friends and fans. Especially if your team doesn’t host Regionals, Super Regionals and going to the World Series. Regionals can be a 4 day event, Super Regionals is 2 or 3 and the World Series is over a week if you make it to the best of 3 Championship.

That's pretty neat. This is the Formula SAE electric division? The IC division was back in May, but the U didn't seem to have a car there. I'm guessing they transitioned to fully electric?

Not Gopher related, but it wasn’t worth starting another thread. Undefeated and pretty much unchallenged Nebraska volleyball goes down to Texas A&M in the round of eight in Lincoln. A&M wins the first two sets. Nebraska wins the next two including a wild 39-37 fourth set. A&M wins the fifth 15-13.

Not really pleased about Iowa's loss to the Gophers in wrestling last night. Iowa may have a couple key injuries but other wrestlers are just under performing this season for Iowa. Kudos to the Gophers for beating the Hawks.

This is not the Iowa wrestling program that I grew up idolizing. I'm not certain who I would put in charge of the program if Beth Goetz fired them, but I wouldn't be heart broken if she did.

Gophers Women’s Basketball advances to the Sweet 16 with a 2 pt win over Ole Miss.
Didn’t like Minnesota not guarding the inbounder with point 8.8 left. I like to guard the inbounder and not giving them a free look at finding an open player. Ole Miss had an excellent opportunity with a shot that hit the front end of the rim.
Caliendo is like 0-10 all time vs.Mesenbrink. It’s not like Mesembrink got lucky and upset Caliendo Regardless, Caliendo shoes little to no class on the podium.

Not surprised really and this really isn't a Brands era thing because I'm pretty sure a lot of wrestlers from the Gable era would have acted the same. In fact when Terry Brands lost to Jason Kelber in 1991 he didn't shake his hand on the mat which is a BIG no no in the wrestling world.

J Robinson...wrestling legend no matter how his tenure ended here in Minnesota. Got his start under Gable and came to Minnesota and built his own legacy much like Gable. My first recollection of him was hearing about his 28 day intensive wrestling camps and pondering if I should come up for one. Those camps were legendary in the upper Midwest wrestling community. It took him a while but he finally got his program to the top three times to help break the stranglehold Iowa had on college wrestling. RIP...

My wife likes watching gymnastics, which means I get to watch gymnastics. Gophers (#13) make it to the National Championship meet (final 8 teams) after upsetting #5 Bama and #12 Utah. They technically finished 2nd in the regional behind #4 UCLA, but the top 2 of 4 teams advance. Finals are next Thursday where they are decided underdogs, but pressure and gymnastics don’t mix well.
Gophers advance to the NCAA gymnastics final on Saturday. Brooklyn Rowray won the national title on the beam on Thursday.
71 years old… Always thought he was older then he really was since coached the Gophers for so long before retiring.
