No doubt Larson has talked to all of these dudes about what he sees them as well as what they need to work on. You’re not going to get Matt Cullen as a direct player coach or B10 resources transferring down
To be clear, I like Moe a lot and think he’s fine as a middle 6 center. I’d want to add one to move Mooney off center and to wing. Moe has every chance in the world to prove he’s better than Ludkte and take those minutes this year or get ready to take them next year

we’ll see if he would. We all are optimistic for Kvasnicka and Humphreys coming in. Javon wound up playing quite a bit in the top 6 last year. He offers something with his combo of speed and size that is hard to replicate. If Larson can convince him to hit and get net front, he may end up getting minutes ahead of a lot of people.
think that’s the commentary prior. Yes you want to let guys grow and develop. You also need to push the teams ceiling and raise the floor. There’s an awful lot of unproven and hoping guys fill new roles still in this forward group, especially down the middle. We have ample wingers.
I will say I’d expect we’re going to have 3 lines that can all score pretty reasonably and maybe one that’s up there with the top of the B10 lines. There will be minutes and opportunities to go around

I'm going to guess there is going to be some experimenting with the center role as the biggest aspect. Humphreys has played some center in the past. Mooney has as well as Moe. It's part of why I don't think Moore will really move too terribly much as it's going to push your most off center guy out to the wing (Mooney) and may lead to you pushing a lower wing who can play center down the lineup to push Cullen/Nevers to the scratch. We're just really light on top 6 center prospects unless Ludtke really lights it up in offseason and looks back to himself. Humphreys and Kvasnicka looked great up in Canada, but its a very big transition to expect them to step into the top 6 so they could both easily be down the lineup. Hendy moves up and down the lineup really well as he's a dog on pucks but probably doens't carry the scoring/finishing you want in your top 6. It's a pretty fun lineup flexibility wise with many guys who could move up and down and guys who will likely mesh super well (Cullen or Mooney finding Burnevik for one-timers could be electric). Would imagine that's going to be the fun off the offseason of how you put these guys together in roles

I don't think I denied that Murr was coming to the Gophers, just made an argument on why I thought he wouldn't come or why the Gophers wouldn't pursue him. Nobody here in Mankato knew about him even talking to the Gophers until one week before he made that announcement he was coming so you guys must be clairvoyant or something to know that he was going to do it before he even did!
And I'm not an insider, not even close, just someone who has information shared with him from people who have actual discussions with those within the program. Occasionally I am fortunate to be in those conversations with them. I pick and chose what i share because not all information is for public consumption. I don't just throw a bunch of stuff at the wall and see what sticks.

i would imagine it impacts it in the sense that Reid is going to expect to be leading a power play unit. He’s a LHD and DuPont is a RHD, so in theory could coexist but there’s a ton of talent on the ice at Michigan so someone has to end up dropping off the premier units

Yawn. Recruiting FOMO happens every time a rival gets on a heater. I remember last summer when Penn St was the media-proclaimed team of destiny. Hell even last August a near-retirement Bob Motzko out-recruited the all powerful Bryn Chyzyk for Cullen, Conboy, Geiger and Casey.
We’ll have ours. Joey Cullen in August. McKinnon is a legacy, Schneider and/or Willis, etc. Lots of talent in that MN 2010 class.
This isn’t to diminish what North Dakota has done; Fitzhenry and the Rucks are phenomenal players. But just because one team gets hot doesn’t mean our favorite team is falling apart at the seams. Those things aren’t mutually inclusive.

We’re sitting alright but still work to do. Let’s see come August. We were never going to slay the Canadian circuit. Fitzhenry sucks to lose, but realistically the Rucks were not coming here
Back in December it was reported (PuckPreps I think) that Freddie Schneider was down to Minnesota, Michigan and St. Thomas. I wonder if things have changed in those seven months. We should be in the thick of things regardless.

Sorry, watching our four biggest rivals make a Frozen Four while we sat back and did nothing isn't exactly the best taste to have in your mouth. I'm hopeful. But, don't see Larson moving the needle with these big commits right off the bat. I'm sure things will change. I was told how negative and awful I was last off season when no one wanted to admit the train wreck coming down the tracks. Excited for the new players and improved team. But, firing your coach every 4-5 years and hoping the new coach brings half his team from the old school here isn't a sustainable recruiting model.
