Kurth with a goal and assist today.

Saw Rinzel against Prior Lake last week. Motz was there. Rinzel just oozes skill.
Excited to see what Jimmy Clark can do on the big stage. Hopefully he's the player we all walk away talking about.

Not very impressed. Looked soft
John Mittelstadt still listed on the line charts as MN commitment, although he is one of the question marks for next year. Brody Lamb with a goal for GB so far tonight.

Anyone have any insight to Pinoniemi or Cruz Lucius injuries or timeline to return?
Not very good goalie play for sure.
All three of Cooley, Snuggerud and Chesley will likely go first round

If they were committed to Michigan or BU they'd be something extra special.

Think that's a UND recruit he walked. What a shame
He walked a recruit from the greatest hockey conference ever? How can this be? :confused2:
Again

Glad to see his production picking up. Was hoping that first half was an anomaly.
Geno Pichora is such a head scratcher to me. Why did Bob, the guy that preaches about getting older, get a GOALIE to commit at 16? Just weird.

The age they commit at isn't what makes the team younger or older.
A kid can commit at 16 or 17 but not come in to college until he is 20 and that fits exactly with the coach's aim to "get older".

I understand that for skaters. But for goalies to commit at 16 is such a gamble. I would argue if they’re USNTDP or nationally recognized then you can get them at 17/18 but more often than not you should get goalies to commit at 20 with proven juniors success. If not then you run the risk of what’s happening to Pichora: putting up meh numbers in a league no ones ever heard of.
He can come in and be a third goalie or find somewhere else
Who cares if he verbally committed; not like the team is tied to him in any way. If he pans out, great, most likely he ends up a Gopher. If his development gets derailed, move on to somebody else.
Not saying that's ideal or the way the whole thing should go down, but it's reality.

As Cardinal pointed out, it isn't binding anyway.
My preference has always been to try to grab goalies after they have graduated HS so I understand where you are coming from... but it's not like they are unable to get out of it either.

Are we the Minnesota Stinking Badgers now???

Ha ... I don't think they'll make a habit of it like Eaves did but I'm just pointing out there's no tangible downside for either party to an early verbal commitment. I'd rather the Cedar Rapids team not playing due to Covid and his USHL job disappearing due to that wasn't great for his development.

Does anyone know the story on Hendrickson? I would think we have the inside track on him, but is he expected to be good enough that we would want him? I notice he seems to be on the 4th line for NTDP but 4th liners there can still be pretty darn good players.

Eligible to commit in August. I assume we’re his first choice. Just the fact he made the NTDP means he’s a pretty darn good player and we probably want him. That isn’t always the case, but I assume we’re in on him.
Kurth with a goal and 2 assists tonight. 3rd in USHL in points with 69.

Nice.
Oliver Moore drawing comparisons to Dylan Larkin from people around the NTDP. That would be nice.
Fun to see Snuggerud and Cooley on a line together. Perhaps portending things to come.
They have been on a line most of the year and yes with Lucius potentially out of the picture we're hoping for
Knies-Cooley-Snuggerud
I’d pump the breaks with Lucius “out of the picture”
I said potentially and even if he's there Snuggerud may be a better fit on that top line. We also don't know if Knies will be back.
Both Mittelstadts with a goal and an assist against each other
Apparently there was a bomb threat at Team USA Arena last night, resulting in suspension of game. Scary situation.
Lucius back in the lineup and he scores!!

Cooley 2
Snuggerud 9
Rinzel 42
Chesley 64

With every passing week and the way the communication has been I think 0 Lucius Brothers is more likely than 2 Lucius Brothers on the roster next year.

Very interesting… could still be a foot injury right??
We have more than enough forward depth this year and next year but obviously you want both of them on your team. Two special players.
If you lose both Knies and Lucius forward depth next year will not be as strong as this year (with Lucius).
Knies/Lucius/Meyers/McLaughlin/Walker/Cruikshank >
Cooley/Snuggerud/Kurth + a summer of development for the others

Knies staying would basically even out the scales as I believe he is a Hobey contender for next year (not to get too far ahead of ourselves, Gophers still have hockey to play THIS year) and it’s kinda looking like he’s leaning towards staying.
