Shoutout to Ludtke for making multiple fantastic plays on the penalty kill. Reading them like a book and getting sticks in passing lanes.

Axel Lofgren is a going to be a fan favorite. He plays damn hard. Piss and vinegar.

Kvasnicka and Humphrey’s are exactly what this team needed. Play drivers. Constant energy.

Wyatt Cullen is a special talent. Very happy to see it pop tonight.

Burnevik with some great passes tonight.

TEAM EFFORT.

Having been at the games, what's up with the business suits?

What UND calls their black alternates. They wip em out to avoid getting swept and think opponents quiver at the mere sight of them

UND’s black jerseys have been dubbed the “Business Suits” by those in the program. I remember there being a quote about “You don’t need much more motivation when you see the Business Suits hanging in your lockers” or something to that effect.

They have a knack for wearing them when they’re trying to salvage a split, making anything special about them go right out the window.

They are going for the John Wick/Baba Yaga thing:

There is a lot to like about this team, first and foremost they play as a team.

Digging the Swedish goalie.

Gophs felt like they were playing downhill all weekend. Honestly probably should have had more than 10 goals the rate they were turning ND’s D over.

After watching this series againt the goons on ice, I am overwhelmed with a sense of calm and great excitement for what the rest of the season may offer.  It feels like a longtime since I have felt that way.  As was mentioned earlier, any other officiating crew and the score would have been more lopsided.  Boys keep this Wagon rolling!

Go Gophers

UND is fast and skilled, but Minnesota played their own game: contest every inch and lay out to block shots. Hockey is a weird sport with more than one way to win. The Gophers took the team defense and goaltending route this weekend.

One thing I noticed this weekend is that the first line was out there killing penalties. That's a coach who understands that giving up a goal counts the same as getting one.

I can hardly believe this is the same team that got bushwacked in Duluth.  I'm really hoping this weekend the one they look back on as the start to something good.

Kvasnicka is a stud. He never gives up on a play. In fact, the whole team played six periods doing that this weekend.

A couple of things that haven’t been brought up yet. Tarin Smith was great tonight. Barely played last night and played admirably tonight. He’s going to be real good when he gets his feet under him. Also, it was in the 2nd period where we had a breakout play from behind our own net that was designed to beat the 1-1-3 neutral zone trap that they were waiting in. Two quick passes from behind the net, to the near blue line, to a far blue line with a forward skating along the line. Broke the trap and we ended up with a mini 3 on 2. Idk how many teams we have watched who could never figure it out.

77 getting a ton of chances in the first few games. When he starts burying them, and he will, look out!

You weren’t wrong! I watched the first and some of the rest of the game on my phone while watching the World Series at the bar with my buddies. Glad to see us sweep the green idiots, I don’t remember when they last did that, guessing when Kyle Rau was rolling the dice after that one goal.

2011 yep. Rau won it 3-2 with 45/46 sec. left in regulation (freshman year)

If my eyes are working, Lofgren full swinging on Zellers at the buzzer and Cullen cupping his ear near the UND bench after scoring?  Also the GPL video of the boys leaving the ice and Whipple standing there celebrating….I’m here for all of it.
