Pros and cons of this being the series the forward room looks decimated for in that while it will hurt if we lose to them for the big ten and postseason, losses here would not be the huge pwr suck of losing to someone we normally would massively out gun. Going to take tight defending and being opportunistic this weekend. Hoping we can pull off Friday with the freshest the legs will be and then Sat is bonus

If players and recruits like it, why not throw them in as a third or fourth jersey. That said I hope they never adopt anything like this regularly, it would be like Sweden changing their hockey jerseys to something other than the Tre Kronor. You can’t mess with perfection.

The Gophers have good marketing, including good social media marketing, but even good marketing can't save what is objectively ugly. The grays were awful with the football team and they remain awful on the hockey team. I'm all for a few fun alternatives but these aren't it, especially considering how many great jerseys of the past you could resurrect. Tribute to the Iron Range? Why not bring back some of the jerseys from the Mayasich or Mariucci eras (our two most famous Iron Ranger alumni). In any case, I agree that if they get the players fired up then I can live with it.

Hopefully some of the guys are more day to day than long-term and still have a shot of making it into the lineup as the coming week progresses. Wood missing this series to practice with team Canada is a real head-scratcher, though. You'd think he'd miss a few practices instead.

Even with all the football jerseys, I’ve said it’s not for you, it’s for the kids. If it brings them excitement and maybe a 16 year old kid thinks it’s cool and wants to come here more, do it.
As for Wood, it’s not his fault. Canada does this every year. Their camp opens a week earlier than USA. If he wants to play in World Juniors, and of course he wants to play, he has to be in camp Canada. No exceptions.
Most definitely not a fan of the jerseys. They're a bit better than the football version, but, still, ugh. But, as others have pointed out, if the players like them, I'll deal with it.
I like them - part of me wonders if I'd like them even more if they had 'Gophers' going diagonally across the front instead of the M or perhaps the vintage goldy with the hockey stick (gold jerseys).
Surprisingly not as bad as the images I had conjured up in my head (my mind kept going to that uni-swag 2024 jersey of the year that was all gray 😬) and these are far better than what the FB team rolled out.
I think they would be slightly cooler if we didn’t have ASU to be reminded of. Thought I’d hate them, but I don’t; and as @frozen4champs said, I’ll still probably end up shelling out dough if one were to ever come available. I mean I can’t stop keeping up with the collection now. 25 in 2025….? 🤔😁
I can appreciate the kids being excited about it, and as long as it’s a fun thing once in awhile, I can get behind it 100%.

Oh, I definitely approve of Dark Mode as a general thing. I'll have to see the jerseys in person to really make up my mind. Would be nice as an alternate Away jersey, I suppose. Should be light-colored jerseys at home: Good guys wear white (or Gold for special occasions)
Grey doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but I get that there's only so much you can do to try and be different. Jersey is solid outside of the brutal collar. Socks are fine. Breezers need to be gold. Gloves probably should be as well.

Would it be that big of a deal if Wood just showed up to camp a few days late? Half kidding half serious cuz I mean cmon your team is ranked #1 playing a top 3 team and given the context of injuries Wood is a necessity.
I would think playing for Team Canada in the WJC is probably more important for about a dozen reasons...so yeah it is that big of a deal. While most people here don't really know much or care much about the WJC (not people on this site obviously) in Canada it is kind of a big deal.

Agree... It's a very important hockey tourney trophy for Canada. I may be wrong but, it may be bigger than a gold medal in the Olympics or even a Canadian team winning the Cup.

I was just in Vancouver for a day. Every commercial break on TV had a World Juniors commercial. Every radio station had World Juniors commercials. To say they care is an understatement.

I think Team USA also knows that college hockey is very important to the development pipeline, so if they did move up camp, they would work with college hockey to do so. Canada does not care about US college hockey, so if they can screw a college team by taking a player or 2, so be it.

Can't say I ever go in to a weekend saying I would be happy with a split, much less ecstatic. Gotta show more arrogance! I am expecting a sweep if we come in with 6 skaters and one goalie. (Of course if they lose on Friday, then I am at least relieved with a win on Saturday.)
And as for the jerseys, I've never gotten too excited one way or the other, especially for a third jersey for a weekend. Just don't care that much, as long as I can read the numbers.
But this will be biggest test yet. Probably the best team they have played and with so many out. Hopefully they can come out flying like this past Friday night.

Eventually I'd guess you will see the men do what the women do and have weeks off the big weeks of international competitions.
Now it can hurt you as you "lose" your bye week those weeks and won't have it in the second half of the season, but if you can get the entire conference to agree to not have conference games this second weekend in December, then everyone is mostly on an even keel.
I'm expecting both games to be low scoring. Maybe OT. If it goes to shoot out, we know how that goes.
