Would be fine if Pitlick doesn't make the trip as his head is too big to fit on the airplane.
LOL OK
We’ll run them into the ice. 6 points, see ya later.

About that… bonehead move but Bob made it clear where he stands on it. Pitlick learned his lesson and came out the rest of the game with fire (as he should)
Is it Friday yet?
They should be tuned up after their bout with Bentley!
Tree nuts? Can we come up with something better than that? I get having nicknames for our most hated rivals and those names have been around forever-- Whioux, BADgers, Jan Brady. I'm just not feeling Tree Nuts.

Should be a good road test.
Should be a good series for the guys. Looking forward to it.
If the team finds a way to play with the same fire as this weekend the games won’t be close. But I’ve watched plenty of gopher hockey in my day and if they come out uninspired because it’s “just Ohio State”, they will lose one. Seen it before.
It's a pretty telling sign that the atmosphere around here is really upbeat after losing in OT to the flickertails. I don't worry about this teams motivation to play hard. There is a feeling or aura if you will that these guys are a little cocky (in the good way) and team driven to go and play hard.
There will be some stinkers here and there, but I'm confident these guys will be a well oiled machine come late December to January

Hell, I think we’re a well oiled machine right now.
Pretty dang solid for sure, I've been impressed with how we've done against top tier teams this early in the season.

The team speed and skill is pretty insane. It's at such a high level that they can beat teams even while making mistakes that might otherwise cost them. This may be the fastest, most-skilled gophers team I've ever watched. They just flat out dominated play for all but five or 6 minutes last night.
As good as they are, they have a lot of upside. Once they play a more team-oriented game, there will be a step change. There is still the occasional extra dangle on the offensive blue line and other common mistakes young players make until they realize they're playing at a new level.
Ohio State plays that style that the gophers hate playing against but I think this team is better equipped to play those teams. Also hopefully they just focus on hockey this week because they aren’t playing North Dakota. Some mental mistakes in that last game that probably won’t be seen the rest of the year.
I agree that this is one of if not the best gopher team I’ve watched (can’t say I watched the national champion teams or years before). The only thing they really need to figure out is special teams, it was night and day as far as how much pressure each PP exerted yesterday.
6-1-1 in our last 8 in Columbus.
Redemption week for Cooley and Pitlick
Redemption week for Cooley and Pitlick
Why Cooley?!?!?! Cause of his "bs" face masking call?!?!?! If that's face masking than the stripes better start calling it more often in most scrums.

Like, in the same scrum with NoDak doing that to Knies, for starters.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

Perfectly stated. Exactly how I feel. This team has shown that it is up for any opponent, wants it bad, and doesn’t get discouraged when they fall behind. And, they have the talent in spades to back that up.

A post whistle penalty is a post whistle penalty. Yeah they should’ve called the UND guy too but it’s still undisciplined. I get that emotions are riding high in a series like that though

They were beatable for game 2 against Lindenwood and game 2 against Mankato.
Don't get me wrong, I was very happy about this weekend's game and not at all discouraged by the OT loss to the fHawks. But they can and have struggled at times. The fOSU series will be their first road series of the season and the first D1 road series ever for the freshman. Hopefully they are focused and have their ears pinned back and come out flying. OSU is probably the best place to play your first road series.
Agreed, lets face it no one will be there. Especially Saturday on gameday.
Is there a plan to upgrade OSU arena or build a new smaller rink in Columbus?
No reason they should play in a 18k seat colossus in front of 3-6k fans every night.

Granted the only time I've been in Value City Arena was during the 2005 Frozen Four, but I do remember a lot of the crowd energy escaping to the vacant upper level, so I think it would solve a lot of the problem if there was a retractable false ceiling between the upper level and the lower bowl. I don't know if that's practical though, even for OSU.

Would be fine if Pitlick doesn't make the trip as his head is too big to fit on the airplane.
Let him on the plane! I'm looking forward to seeing more of Pitlick's energy in this series. He's a real playmaker and was hustling everywhere.
Here's hoping he has lots of reasons to (but doesn't) throw his stick next weekend!

Yeah the guy just made a dumb mistake. He sounds like a good kid and he’s a great player. I’m sure what he had to hear from his coaches and teammates, as well as getting absolutely torched on social media, is punishment enough. Let him try and redeem himself this weekend and the rest of the year. Calling it right now, we meet North Dakota in the tournament, Pitlick scores in OT and tosses his stick into the crowd.
I’d rather have Pitlick (and this group) learn this lesson in October than in April.
I expect a hell of an effort from him this weekend.. and to be fair he played brilliantly last weekend other than the unfortunate celebration..

Part of me wonders, if Pitlick would have sat for his 10 and UND didn't rally to score 4 goals and eventually win in OT. Would his stick toss even be talked about the way it's being talked about now.

Definitely not. I was at the game and the general sentiment in my area of the arena--even after his penalty was assessed--was "worth it!" It was an awesome in the moment celly. Obviously, it shouldn't happen again. But time to move on.
There were plenty of other factors that contributed to that rally.
When I saw that happen, my initial thought was "Well, there's a powerplay for UND" I was thinking that would be called Unsportsmanlike Conduct for 2 minutes, not a 10 minute Misconduct.
Stupid mistake, but I don't think that's what turned the course of the game. Definitely best to get that kind of thing out of the way right at the beginning of the season.

I felt he was Minnesota's best forward last weekend, and that's saying something considering the competition.
This team hasn't really even felt the impact of #92 yet. They will be scary good when he finds his game. The MI series this year will be worth twice the ticket price.
After a few weeks now, it's more clear why Broz may have felt a little crowded out on this team, and it's more of a mystery why what's his nuts would want to leave this and go to play for the Red Menace.

He is a great player and had an outstanding series (other than losing his mind). Kids like him, Nelson, and Nevers are the kind of players that can put this team over the edge and win it all IF things keep progressing.
I feel there's been more "talking about" the "talking about" of Pitlick's toss than actual "talking about" the toss ifyaknowhatimean.
I saw a social media a Gopher fan was calling for the UND fan to be kicked out for throwing the stick back on the ice. I was like "pump the brakes" that's something UND fans would be crying for up in the Nazi bunker if roles were reversed.

Do you keep Snuggerud, Cooley, and Knies together for this series? I think I actually kind of preferred the Pitlick, Cooley, and Snuggerud line. To be fair, with how chaotic Saturday night was we didn’t really get the chance to see more than a game and a half of 81, 92, and 89 together.

I didn't really understand moving away from the Pitlick, Cooley, Snuggerud line. I think tBob is always experimenting and fine tuning.
Maybe we'll see the debut of the Snuglen Brodz line against Ohio State.
Personally I’d like to see Pitlick, Cooley, and Snuggerud back together and then try a line of Knies, Huglen and Nevers. Maybe Kurth. But I thought Nevers had a hell of a weekend and deserves to play on a line with 89 and 7.

You know I was thinking the exact same thing?. Maybe not the stick toss but if we meet the hawks later in the season I already have 77 penciled in with a huge goal

Yeah I think Nevers earned himself a look in the top 6 after a hell of a series. Whether that’s 89-7-18 or 77-7-18 doesn’t matter to me

Could Bob put 22 on a line with Nelson and J. Mittlestadt/Strobel? Nelson has shown that he can shield the puck and I think he’s decent on the back check. Is his passing game good enough to feed Brodzinski? I’d say so. Then you have either J. Mittlestadt or Strobel who are both tenacious and relentless on loose pucks and the back check. Maybe that would give Brodzinski more freedom to get open to shoot the puck. Just don’t let him see the ice for overtime ever again. He was completely out muscled on the winning goal by North Dakota.

Lol no I need the stick toss. National title game in Tampa. 2-2 in OT. Pitlick goes coast to coast, snipes it past DeRidder and tosses his stick into the crowd in celebration.

Johnny Pohl tossing his helmet into the crowd at the "X" in OT vs. Maine!!!
I heard he did get the helmet back.

Yeah, I’m fine with either but Strobel adds some size.
