The "U" has a goldmine sitting in front of them. And for so many years the "U" has done nothing. Especially now since they sold their souls to Fanatics. For as much as I bleed maroon and gold, they sure have some tweedle dee's and tweedle dum's running the show.
Really? I had the impression that their hands were being tied by Nike, especially when you consider that the replicas that were sold when MHK had it's own equipment contracts under Mission, Bauer, and Easton looked a lot better before things went downhill after Athletics signed a department-wide contract with Nike. I suppose it's possible that the frustrated, powerless PR people who had to face fan complaints about this stuff weren't able to kick against TPTB within the department, but I thought it was pretty clear that it was Beaverton, not Bierman, that didn't want to allocate production resources to college hockey. Is that not true or are we talking about a separate issue here?

As much as I detest wisconSIN, they are lightyears ahead of the "U" in putting out merchandise at their stores.
For the longest time the same company that owned Gold Country also owned the equivalent Badger apparel stores in Madison.
Yeah... I knew that. They had the same style of logo for both. Just one had a gopher and the other had a badger. And even then, the BADgers still had a better selection.
I have noticed that on Fanatics you can now order Gopher Football jerseys with players names on them as part of the NIL agreement. I hope this opens the door for hockey as well.
Not sure the best place to put this, but the Twins have announced their theme nights and if you like to go to the UMN hat night like I do, it's scheduled for July 22.
My only complaint is that this year's cap isn't that special as the Twins seem to be trying to focus the attention on their new uniforms.

I just ran across these on the Fanatics site. They come in Gold, White or Maroon. It must be part of the NIL agreements with a few players as only 8 players names are available. They do sell the Nike white and maroon jerseys similar to the ones they actually wear, but you can't get them with players names on..
Apparently Fanatics mission statement includes something about being weirder than an Onion article

With a caveat that they're really trying to stop people from wearing any athletic gear at all by way of making it so ugly and disconnected from the actual designs/colors/etc of every team they "support" that fans of the teams refuse to buy it.

BTW I learned a few things about the hockey jersey issue that makes everything so complicated. Nike owns the design of the jersey. Nike doesn't actually make the hockey jerseys, they contract someone to do it for them. The company that makes the jersey and Fanatics don't have a relationship. So Fanatics has the rights to all of this stuff and can't source the game jerseys like they can for basketball and football.
I expect Dinkytown Athletes to do things like jersey shirts or something, but actual jerseys is going to be a challenge. There is a possiblity to do something vintage, but apparently the UMN tries to limit the number of vintage things out there.
It was on Ebay, but I guarantee it came from one of the sites in China. I will admit I ordered a Gophers Jersey once from one of those sites. It's the "Wooger" jerseys they wore after he passed. Only way to get one was through the auction, and I wasn't willing to spend that much. This is what I ended up with. The front isn't horrible, although the color is a bit off. The name and number on the back don't match the color at all. Live and learn I guess. I think I paid $50. Never again.

are the number and name stitched on? If so have vintage mn hockey (or any place that can do jersey numbering) remove the red ones and put maroon ones on. If they are not stitched and thin enough I would think they could even stitch right over it. Even the authentics have the Wooger nameplate over the original nameplate and you can’t tell. Then it might be serviceable!
@cowgirl I have thought about taking it to a place in SF that did a jersey alteration for me before. The other issue is the skating Goldy's on the shoulders are reddish as well, and I don't think the place in SF would have those. Not sure about Vintage. I did order a non custom jersey from them with no problems, but I recall the experience you had when you ordered yours customized and as I recall it was almost a year wait. I will probably keep it as I have enough jerseys in my closet that I can get by only wearing this one once or twice a year and can handle the chuckles from everyone knowing this one is a bad fake. Or, I can just have the wife wear this one when it comes up in the rotation. ?

I bet vintage could get goldy patches?
the problem with the wait on mine was that k1 screwed up the batch of jerseys order so it took extra time as it was during hockey season. Also, his seamstress does work for youth teams and gets huge orders and is always way behind on that in the fall, and they get priority- so now would probably be the best time to inquire! the owner is super nice, but has a full time job and kids and is a one man business so understandably can be a bit slower to respond sometime. Non custom items he has in stock you’ll get super fast however. He should have a ton of the white 100 year jerseys now too.
Last year during the Frozen four some of the players were wearing pride on ice t shirts. It would be nice to find one. Maybe they were just team issued?
Fanatics is such a pile garbage, it's embarrassing. What they offered at the State Fair was pure garbage compared to the years when Goldy's ran to the show. The "U" sold their souls to the devil. I know I sound like a broken record and I'm repeating myself over and over.
Did the U really have a choice though? Sounds like Nike stretched themselves too thin with all the contracts they have. Fanatics came in to fill in what Nike can’t provide.
I agree that Fanatics is a crap company. Built off a snake salesman instead of good business models. It will come crashing down at some point.

Don’t buy fanatics crap. Best message you can send.
I was looking at the fanatics site and the only "traditional" style jerseys they have left is the maroon one (in sizes small and medium) and the gold women's skating Gopher one ( in sizes large and XL ). It is less than a month to hockey season and that is it. They are really pushing those goofy ProSphere ones that you can get a select players name on. No thanks.

For those looking for the new jerseys, a couple of websites appear to have some. Gold Country has some in stock, but they are out of XXL ones in the maroon, but have all sizes in the white ones. (Thanks for the heads up from @cowgirl) No new gold ones that I have run across yet.
Reflecting what Jup said in the season thread, these “replicas” were also ordered a year ago, and since Nike nor the U want to be stuck with extra merchandise, only a certain number were ordered/made. Once they are sold out of a certain size - no more til next year. Nike will not make the replica gold, there is a *chance* K1 might be convinced but it did not sound promising. This was per Gold Country. I’d ask vintage but he doesn’t return communication at all anymore. ?♀️
So email K1 and tell them you’d like to see the new alternates. Worth a shot. They make better looking and better fitting replicas than Nike anyways.

There is a Bills Mafia vendor out there, non-affiliated with NFL or Bills, but they hold "campaigns" for most merchandise. They take orders for a couple weeks for a new design, then shut the campaign down, THEN order from THEIR vendor. So, little to no extra merch. It does take 7-8 weeks for the customer, but everyone is happy with the product, the overhead inventory, etc.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Good to see another MN company helping out Dinkytown Athletes. Every dollar counts, but I'm thinking they would love to land a big whale on the donation front as well.
I would find this as a great find especially if it was a Minnesota coach and my size. Team issued clothing is always better than what's available for the general public.
The bookstore at Coffman has a few new Gopher Hockey items ( not the Gold jerseys obviously). They have an updated panoramic picture of Mariucci with a full crowd vs Duluth ( the last one was with a 3/4crowd) and I spotted a few GPLers in the crowd. I bought one to replace the old one.
