I think there is a pretty big distinction between being concerned about the team’s sloppy patches and panicking. This team is ultra talented and well coached, so I believe they have as good of a shot as anyone, if not more, to win an NCAA title this season. At the same time, hockey can be a fluky game. And in a one-and-done tournament against other good teams, a rough stretch can get you knocked out.
Moving forward this season, even more than blowing teams out I would like to see sound defensive structure and limited turnovers. That’s what wins in the post season. Like others, I have also heard Bob stressing that, so I have confidence it will get cleaned up.
This team can win in many ways. They can out score teams, suffocate them defensively or steal games with lights out goaltending like Close did last night.
Agree with the post above that I’d like to see more attention to detail on the defensive side of the puck. Doesn’t mean we have to be Mankato, but solid d feeds the transition game.

On the road against a rival after taking a five min penalty it’s not surprising they got outshot heavily. Also a lot of the shots after that point came on the shift where the top line was gassed and couldn’t get off the ice. Fortunately it showed that Close is up to the task when needed and eventually the team played to its capability.
Personally I’m curious to see if this kind of trend continues against top teams like OSU and PSU. The gophers can get away without their best effort against some of these lesser teams and are aware of it I’m sure. Those two teams are gonna throw the kitchen sink at the gophers given the pairwise implications.

It didn't seem that unusual to me on TV. Every arena has different lighting, so it'll look different from Mariucci, Pegula, Yost, etc.
The only nuisance for me was that the BSWI guys were talking in subdued voices almost as though they were in a public library. Though honestly that was kind of fitting given how quiet the crowd got.

It was very blue for me. Do they turn off the lights over the crowd? Inconsistent lighting in the space can play tricks with cameras as they look through it. A reason crews love being in Mariucci. It is bright all the way through.

Speaking of media gripes, I think BTN would solve a lot of problems if they just opened up scheduling on the quarter-hours instead of restricting things to hours and half-hours. Today was different because the BB game went to overtime, but the games I've seen were largely over in 2 hours 15 minutes. Hockey has been more or less the same since they took away most of the media timeouts and shortened the intermissions. I would have had no problem with today's faceoff being at 5:15 instead of 5.

Someone needs to light a fire under our guys’ asses. They look uninspired and discombobulated.
