No luck with the Bally Sports App for us... so I guess I'll watch the BADgers/Gophers women's game and get scoring updates via CHN and whoever is faster on the trigger between @collegehockeyaddict and thinkbui.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Were any of those penalties necessary? I had my nose buried in an online grocery order for much of the period and didn't see what led to the tripping minors we got.

This top line is pretty good. I wonder if they are up for the Hobey? ?
Gophers shooting 50% from the ice tonight. 😀

@cowgirl Start the Funnel chant!!!!
Pull your sieve!!!! How could the Badgers have him in goal? We would never have him on our team. ?
End of 2, Gophs up 3-0.

Michigan just scored an ENG, so we're not going to clinch tonight.

The LaCombe penalty was stupid. The Chesley one I didn't see and the Nelson penalty was OK, but would not have prevented a goal or quality chance. Just sloppy play...

Badgers are so bad the announcers are questioning their existence….
Game over, Gophs win 4-1.

Didn’t play very well but got the W. They settled into their game more in the 2nd and 3rd period but there were some ugly stretches of that game. 1st, 2nd and 3rd stars should all be Justen Close he was TERRIFIC.
A sneaky important game for our NCAA tourney chances is the Big Ten Semifinal Game . I Don't like the idea of this team having the Conference Championship week off before the NCAA Tourney.

Is that the 3rd time they've chased Moe? Hopefully he's back out there tomorrow evening!

I expect a terrific response from the Gophers tomorrow. Everything to play for. Sweep incoming! Go Gophers!

Moe isn’t a traitor, he’s a Trojan horse.
Not gonna lie - their repeat lackluster play is becoming a concern.
They've still got a couple weeks they can get away with that garbage, but it unfortunately looks like it's turning into a habit, which is very, very bad.Not gonna lie - their repeat lackluster play is becoming a concern.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Not to beat a dead horse, but this now makes 5 games in a row with a complete horse-poop first period. They are unbelievably lucky that Close brought his A+ game and that the Badgers are horrible. Not to mention already taking almost twice the normal PIMS for an entire game in the 1st period.
I wonder when the last time a Gophers team gave up 21 shots in the first period? Or ANY period for that matter.
So two of the five games are a game where we won 8-0 and scored 9 seconds in. And the game where we beat Michigan outshooting them 15-11 and outscoring them 1-0 in the first period. Sounds like that was the last time Michigan lost. Not sure I am going to have same level of panic.

Nah time to panic! It's obviously a disaster!
Gophers have the firepower this year to make up for some shoddy play. Probably not easy getting hyped up to play big red this year. I wouldn't have thought they could play such a lackluster period like the first, though...stinky.
How deflating for the Badgers to run the Gophers off the ice and the next thing they know it's 4 rip.
Well, we are Twin Cities/Minnesota sports fans after all, so skepticism as to just how good we are is to be expected. Think of it this way: it would make winning it all feel that much sweeter.
I don't think there any way around saying that we haven't been playing our best since Christmas outside of maybe a game here or there. We've been playing well enough for sure, but at this point of the season, we should be tidying things up for the postseason, so it's concerning that once again we had a slow start that was so bad, the shot disadvantage to the last place team was ugly until we took control of the play in the 3rd. We did have the 3-goal lead at that point, but that wouldn't be true against teams we will face in the NCAA Tournament. The sky isn't falling by any means, but these slow starts are definitely a concern.
Though based on the soundbites we got, it was one of tBob's points of emphasis going into this weekend, so he's on it. Just get it out of our system before we enter one-and-done territory.
Thinking more positively, our specialty teams continue to be a bright spot. We didn't get a good look at our PP since the one opportunity we did get was kind of meaningless with the game already in control at that point, but the PK was excellent. Wisco may have gotten swept by ND and Michigan, but they did manage a PPG in each of those 4 games and, if I'm reading the box scores correctly, going a combined 4/14, so we snapped that streak of theirs tonight.
With a supposedly 2-hour basketball game before ours on Saturday, we should be prepared to get Heidi'd and need to open up the BTN stream in the Fox Sports app, but after that it's the hockey doubleheader we wanted for Friday. Let's finish the weekend with two wins and a trophy.

While the first period was brutal, I’m gonna focus on the positives. Brodzinski is cooking, and it was good to see Pitlick get on the score sheet with a nice assist.
Some stats from uscho for those looking at our metrics period by period given the panic alarm seems to be elevating for some
The most disturbing stat is the 0 wins when trailing after the 3rd period.

I still wouldn't bet against this team, but even the coach agrees it's something to work on and I doubt there's a team in the country that doesn't have a list even at this time of year.
Bringing up some of their recent slow starts isn't the same thing as panicking. It's a notable observation.
Taking a 5 minute penalty a minute into a game is not an ideal situation, especially since the team is a bit of a slow starter lately to begin with. Then, taking 2 more minors in the 1st, turned the period into survival mode instead of attack mode. That stuff needs to stop.
I would like to see J Mittelstadt in place of Schmidt tonight. I know Schmidt brings some muscle, but lets give JM a shot again.
The Farm Kid has had a batch of sub par games in a row. He was under 500 in draws as well. I would like to see him get back to the way he played earlier this year.
Come out tonight and step on their throats and let's win tonight and claim the B1G title on the BADgers ice.

I am not panicking, merely pointing out that while they have gotten away with having crap 1st periods for the last 5 games, that kind of thing won't hack it when it comes to the NCAA's. Playing like that against Quinnipiac, BU, Denver or Western will get you a quick exit from the tourney.
I’d take Pino out of the lineup, put Mittelstadt in
The most disturbing stat is the 0 wins when trailing after the 3rd period.
Definitely room for improvement there.
Now that Pino’s goal streak is over put in Strobel!! Haven’t seen Charlie all second half? Also is it safe to say Nelson is officially on a shnide? No goals in the second half so far. Still like his 200 foot game tho, even when he isn’t scoring.
Pitlick, Huglen and Kurth were good it blows my mind that they don’t score more.
