The Gophers are buzzing. Another penalty on Penn State.
The Penn State net comes off with the Gophers are all over them. ?

So, I know these pegs need help, bit that last time the AR just dropped the net back on. That one should have been a penalty.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Brodzinski!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2-1
Bryce says how you like me now?
Another one for Brodzinski!!!!! 3-1 Third of the weekend
Bryce is the shiznit.
Glass breaks after a check and hits a lady. I hope she is alright.
A big part of the glass hit her over the head. She is walking up the aisle. I take that as a good sign.

she made it up the stairs of her own accord but was holding her head. That will leave a mark.
You can all stay off Bryce’s bandwagon. Haters not welcome!
lol…yeah, some think he sucks…until he BURIES A FEW ??You can all stay off Bryce’s bandwagon. Haters not welcome!
Put out Bryce I want to see a Brodzinski hat trick!!!!
Penn State did a great job of blocking shots. It wasn't a pretty win but we avoided the turn overs we made yesterday and as a result Penn State didn't get much offense going. It was a defensive game and then in the third period the Bryce shot took over.
The Big Ten is the best conference this year (see non conference records). Conference games are going to be a challenge but that is good it will prepare the team well for the playoffs. Games like tonight are huge for the team's development. It was a hard fought win.

Bingo
Great win! The team really ramped up the play there in the 2nd period and it carried over into the 3rd. I gladly eat my words on Brodzinski… those were a thing of beauty. Pretty solid atmosphere in the arena once the gophers started buzzing.
Supposedly the glass is designed to break in such a way that it doesn't create sharp edge in the hopes of avoiding cutting anybody.
Gutsy win from, guess who, our upperclassmen. Nelson, Close, Nevers and Brodzinski really led the way and that’s huge.
How do ya like Bryce now?!

Craig’s one of the best in the biz.
I owe Penn St an apology they are a legit team and they showed that this weekend. I still think they should schedule legit teams early so people take them seriously.
Man the Big Ten is deep.

My wife and I walked past the area after the game and I was very surprised of how much glass there really was. Between on the ice and in the stands there was quite a bit of a mess.
Keep your stick on the ice...
The D did a terrific job keeping everything to the outside tonight. 22 had a great weekend! Go Gophers!

Yeah it is. Been watching the scores for MSU and the road trip the first weekend in December keeps looking bigger and bigger.
I think out PP is starting to come together. Even though we only went 1/6 tonight (and 1/7 on the weekend), there seemed to be much more sustained pressure and a lot more decent chances than we had seen so far. There's still work to do, but things are heading in the right direction and it's just a matter of time before we start consistently burying chances.

Seemed like a sneaky good crowd tonight, no? Unfortunately wasn’t able to make it to either games

Once everyone got in the building it was a decent crowd. Probably better than both games last weekend. The place really got buzzing once the momentum swung our way. Looking forward to getting to Mariucci for the series against Wisconsin. Hopefully we absolutely bury them! In the mean time, I’m excited to watch three weekends of what should be very entertaining road trips.
The Big Ten standings are crazy.. this is going to be a very entertaining conference season.
Nelson wasn’t aggressive all night. He even got knocked down in the corner before the third goal. Looked like he got a little mad and took the defender out of the play. If he can harness that all the time, watch out.
It was tough sledding both games. The team looked just a bit off the entire weekend. Glad they pulled out the split because it was not looking good for a while.
Clearly Pitlick in the dog house in Bob’s opinion
Edit: or maybe he just wants to get Pino going which I totally support
He's going to be in it for a while... there was quite the verbal and gesturing convo during the game after another blind pass from below the goal line to no one. I don't think he got a shift afterwards.

Yeah, the conference is going to be good this year. Love to see it.
Didn’t Vegoe predict 5-6 goals a night this weekend on the podcast?
Hey the Vegas odds put the over under at 6.5 and 6... I'm surprised how much better PSU was at defending in zone than past Guy Gadowsky teams. Also didn't help the scoring that Minnesota refused to work the puck down low and keep it down low until later in the game tonight.
Bench definitely got shortened big time in the third. Obviously penalties played a factor in that, but I don’t recall seeing much of Thomas or the 4th line forwards at all.
Love when Faber jumps up into the play and rushes with the forwards. He made a beauty of a pass to Brodzinski earlier on in game.
Cooley playing great hockey so I’m nit picking here, but holy cow shoot the puck!
Quieter weekend for Knies and Snuggy, we will need them next weekend.
I personally thought Koster and Chesley fought the puck tonight a lot.
Overall, I was very pleased with the effort tonight. Fun third period to be in the building for.

a friend said he saw a girl who had to get stitches in her leg from the glass after the game.

That woman (or someone claiming to be her) has been posting on social media that she's had to have stitches and has a massive headache. She went to the hospital, but everything seems minor.

I never saw any blood. Probably more shock then anything.
A big chunk of glass hit her in the head and if you've ever handled plexiglass you know it is very heavy

I'm willing to bet if it would have been cowgirl she would have said "It's just a flesh wound. I don't have time to get stitches I need to stay for the just of the game."

I did say that very thing to my friends after the game. ?
Although if you watch right at the end, that lady did have a large chunk that shattered as it landed on her head.

What was with doing a center ice stick salute tonight? Don’t recall I’ve seen the Gophers do that when it wasn’t a sweep. Please don’t be like every other team that does it no matter what.
I will have to watch it on TV, but from my vantage point, it appears that the blade of Cooley's stick hit the top of the glass and that caused the break. I think this is the fourth time that I have been in Mariucci and have seen the glass break.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.

That surprised me too. The only time I recall seeing it after anything other than a sweep was the final home series of the regular season, but tonight we're barely a month into the season. I wonder if that was just their way of saluting veterans.

The post game presser.

Never doubted him! ? . I will say he does look better on a third line with Nelson, who made a really nice play to set up the third goal. When BB gets time and space he has a rocket of a shot with a good chance of finding twine. You can all stay off Bryce’s bandwagon. Haters not welcome!
I thought both goalies played really well tonight, Soulier had some amazing saves on the weekend and Close stopped 37/38 tonight.
I think PSU is a good team that could be dangerous come playoff time. Their offense can apply a lot of pressure, their D seemed improved from previous years, and their goalie was probably the best one we’ve seen this year.

Assumed she went to the hospital. Walking out of Mariucci we saw Mpls FD leaving. Assumed they sent her to the hospital to be evaluated.

I was wondering the same thing and looked over to see what you were thinking. The only thing that I could think at that moment was for Veteran’s Day.

It is heavy and that ice crew guy tossed that plain of glass back up on the boards like he was bucking bales of hay without a problem.

Thursday night the gophers seemed content not to shoot the puck. They obviously changed that last night, but not many shots got through. To be fair, the Gophers turned the tables on PSU late in the game by doing the same thing defensively.
Pitlick suddenly can't find his game, which is a disappointment to me. He's a high-motor guy with skills, and the team needs him to contribute.
Our guys looked like baby-faced peewees compared to that PSU line up. They're all cut from the same cloth with their corny, half-grown mustaches.

Very similar to Minnesota State. Though I swear one of the PSU players was wearing eye makeup.

I was watching the game thinking Penn State plays a combo style of Mankato and Middlebury (former D-3 powerhouse). They are very good at taking away space and counter attacking on turnovers.
Penn St reminded me a lot of UMass from last year’s regional. Their D kept extremely tight gaps and forced the wings to make plays under pressure when they pinched.
As much as I hate to say it, a chip and chase strategy would probably work best against these guys in Pegula. Keep it low and make them work.
