Did my normal Sunday routine in downtown Hopkins (about 3 miles away) although I cut the time spent in half. Those roads are only going to get worse as the day goes on. Talking with the owners of Pink Ivy, they said about 2/3 of their evening reservations already cancelled.
Also, buddy said Pub 819 and Main St Bar were dead. Would not be surprised if many businesses close early; no one is really going out today.

Made the trek to the St Paul to watch the Juniors game. Roads were just wet getting to the game and a bit slow after. Freeways were mostly ok. I usually don’t pay much attention to the weather sensationalism, but I did today. It was way overblown. Tweets like this are way too aggressive for what we got.

It hasn’t snowed too much more but it’s glare ice under the snow as it was so warm yesterday. The wind is the worst part. Safe travels of you are out and about!
I can only speak for the Mankato area but we got hit pretty good, a good 6-8" of snow. My daughter out in the country said that the wind was bad and they couldn't see the neighbors house across the road. The DOT was out in force this morning on 169/60 and the roads are better but completely covered with a snow/ice layer but no drifts now. When I came out to plow here at work this morning at 4:00 there were drifts all over the road.

Cities and whomever is responsible for parking lot maintenance need to lay off the salt and use more sand. Especially at parking lot entries and intersections in parking lots.

No, it’s too much salt and poor snow removal and maintenance.
Incorrect. My work sells ice melt (a bane, for sure). Depending on temp: salt, sand, chem mixes...the combo is dependent on temp for most effectiveness.

Again, if you read my initial response, I said lees salt and more sand. People think using salt and lots of salt (just look at the city of Mols) is the answer. A little bit of salt goes along ways. And just spreading salt on flat lots, entrances and sidewalks and leaving it isn’t the answer. Continued maintenance… Sand (especially at entries and intersections on flat lots) and natural sunlight is your friend.

This is true. We went to Kauai two years ago and are trying to put a little away each month in a savings account with the goal of going back in 10 years since we figure it will take at least that long to save up.

if you stay on the big island of Hawaiii you can start the day snow skiing down a mountain, then go to the ocean and go surfing,maybe find a few live volcanoes finish a day on the Big Island 😎. I remember one of my trips to Hawaii my 1st morning in Honolulu they announced a blizzard warning, the blizzard was on the big island, I could not believe I was hearing a blizzard warning in Hawaii

First time in 5 plus days with the temps above 0°. 4° this morning at 5:30, though with the wind it felt colder than the previous -0° days with windchill. That wind this morning is really sharp.
Nice and much needed snowfall yesterday. Should get another nice one or two in March!!!

The models are really starting to align with the bullseye in MN right over the twin cities
The last 3 model runs have 20+ inches for MSP

Yeah it’s setting up with the bullseye more north than it was mid-week. You’ll still see 8-10 inches but somewhat sharp cutoff

We moved to the Philippines in 2014 and even in the few areas where it's supposed to be occasionally cooler I've never once before felt cold. Today just now coming home from work I put on a sweatshirt, which I had to pull from a box in a closet.
The weather station on Hwy 7/Hopkins Crossroad is saying 17" when all is said and done.

I get it, but at least get within 10-12 inches. Just saying.
If they say 3-5, and it's 6-9, sure (like the last snowstorm). That's pushing it, but I get it.

Update from the GPL Meteorological Global Headquarters.
Storm is on track with bullseye over the cities - 15-20 inches. Perhaps more. Mankato should see 8-12. I think there will be more snow in Mankato than they are saying. The models wobbled north yesterday, which would cut snow totals over southern MN, however that wobble is not going to happen, but the forecasted totals are still seeing the effects. Overall, If it stays sleet/ heavy snow longer tonight, totals will be less in the cities, but particularly in Mankato area. But if it’s mostly fluffy snow by 10pm-midnight, totals will be higher.

The top snowfall at MSP Airport is the Halloween Blizzard of 1991, which dropped 28.4 inches from Oct. 31 to Nov. 3. Other major storms include the Nov. 1985 Thanksgiving storm (21.1 inches) and the Jan. 1982 storms (20.0 inches), marking some of the heaviest snowfall events on record.
Dunno if Hopkins area got a foot, but it's definitely Hoth weather out there. It's snowing sideways as I post. Already seeing some businesses either announcing being closed, or delayed openings.

It’s a mess out there in the south metro I started my driveway at 10am and it was well over 1’. Got about 1/3 done a was having issues with out blower. Pushed it back in the garage and didn’t mess with it. We were planing on buying a new one this spring anyways. Sent 2 texts out to local guys who remove snow and one of the guys just came by and cleared out driveway.
The streets in Rosemount/Lakeville are plowed and treated. Suppose to snow and blow all night and into the morning. I have full intentions of making it into work tomorrow. I’ll see if my coworkers and the patients can or well. I don’t see the powers to be cancelling and closing clinics. Even though they have in the past for much less.
About half of downtown Hopkins was closed today (not all made announcements on social media). And the ones that were open...some decided to close early due to lack of customers. The roads weren't too bad, especially considering the amount of snow. I've heard from friends that WI is totally effed in snowfall (eg: Eau Claire was getting 2 feet min) and Houghton (of course) is getting up to 4 ft.
And it's going to be 50 on Thu or so. Gotta love the upper midwest.

We drove up from AV to St. Paul this afternoon and the freeways are clear and pretty near normal speeds. They obv did a good job keeping up overnight. The side streets and sidewalks are a hot slushy mess. Nothing in the metro a good Minnesota can’t handle!
Two feet of heart attack snow covered my driveway. Now I’m a hot slushy mess.
Little more than six inches of heavy stuff in southern Chisago County. It definitely shifted southward and looks like parts of WI got hit hard.
