Looks like a very HOT few days starting on Saturday. Of course, it is haying season and the tractor I use has no AC.. lol
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
You know they make swathers with AC… 😉

LOL, yes they do. Unfortunately, most of my haying is ditches, waterways, pastures and such that swathers don't operate well in and my other tractors are too large to operate in ditches. So, I'm stuck with a 1983 tractor with no air or radio that works. Also, trying to limp my way to retirement in a few years, so it seems every summer when I cut hay it is 95+.

Do you avg 2-3 rounds of cuts a summer for hay?

The big question… do you run green or red in machinery?!?!?!

Absolutely! Loyalty, always loyalty.
Grew up red. When I came back 15 years ago to take over my brothers farm he had turned everything blue ( Ford-New Holland). Sorry to get this off topic. Anyway, I just looked up that it could reach 100 degrees in MPS on Monday. Looks like the last time it did that was May 2018, and before that in July 2012 (last year the temp at MSP reached 99). We hit 100 down here last year.

I'm sending some pedialyte powder packets with my son for Augustana next week. He is already sick of the "drink as much water as possible this weekend" talk I've been giving him. He has been doing well the past couple of weeks with practices and work drinking a lot of water, I hope he keeps it up because next week looks like a scorcher.

Today and tomorrow look like the nicest two days of the summer which lines up nicely with our first camping trip of the year!
It's so damn hot. Milk was a bad choice!

Yeah... I'm at work and my wife is msg'ing about the A/C isn't blowing cool enough. The temp in the house when I left this morning was at 68 and right now is 78. So told her to close all the doors to all the rooms, make sure every vent is open and give it some time. Hopefully things will be better or start to be better by time I get home... LoL!!!

It’s 100 outside in Mpls right now ?
Aloha!
We’ve only hit 100 six times in the last 30 years. I would not have guessed that few. Not that we hit it a lot but I would have thought we hit it on average once every other year

Wow… I would have took the the over being at 6. I would took the over at 15 in the last 30 years.

Glad I was up at Lake Shamineau last week instead of this one, although it appears thar Motley wasn't hit as hard as the surrounding area. Night isn't over yet, though.

The heat index, many more times. Actual temp? No. That dew point is the killer for the index.

Make sure you check the condenser coil outside. Many are plugged up with cottonwood seeds so they can’t suck in enough air to cool off. And check the air filter is clean.
We rented a VRBO in FL a few years ago and there was a sign on the counter that the AC isn’t working very well. I checked the air filter and it had obviously not been changed in years. Totally plugged. And they had new filters in the same closet. So I took photos and changed the filter and the AC worked like a champ. The lack of air through the filter caused the evaporator coil to freeze up. The owner was happy to not have to pay for an HVAC appointment.

I checked the coil and filter and they all look clean and not plugged. I turned the thermostat off, waited and turned it back on... nothing. I turned the A/C off at the fuse box, waited and turned it back on... nothing. I even turned it off from the outside and nothing. The fan in the A/C won't even spin. So something is up and I was just trying to do a band aid fix to get us through the night. Luckily we have a service contract on the A/C so we had a call out yesterday afternoon. Hopefully they'll show up sooner than later

Hope it is not "Service Plus"... heard on the radio yesterday that they are a week to multiple weeks out on repairs. Hope that is not the case, but just what I heard.

No... we have it through Home Warranty of America. Thanks for the heads up!!!

The company Jup heard on the radio wasn’t to different than the one we have. Up to a week to get service… lol!!! On the bright side if we survived last night, we can survive the next couple of nights… lol!!!

Finally! As of 11:30am measuring 2/3 of an inch here in Plymouth.
Had a nice 2 hour rain in Woodbury. The first time since May that it's rained more than 5-10 minutes. Unfortunately I think it's too late for my lawn (large patches are dead and dormant), but my trees are sure grateful.

I've managed to keep my yard somewhat green this summer, but it has taken quite a bit of water. Still looks like crap. I tried to let it do the dormant thing last year and it backfired. It just died. Had to seed/overseed a lot of areas. Lot of work to have it look like junk anyway.

I read somewhere on twitter that we got more than .55 inches of rain at MSP for the first time since before Memorial Day weekend.

You can thank the rain on us having people over to tip up garage walls. It wasn’t supposed to rain much til afternoon but they had to take a good hour and a half break at 9am. ?
The rain finally showed up here about 30 minutes ago in Plymouth and it has been a downpour since. It’s the type of storm I love watching while sitting on my screen porch

Checked last night? No rain predicted.
Checked at noon? LOTS of big storms at about 4pm.
Checked at 3? Nothing. NOTHING.
Just now? For about 10-15 minutes? Monsoon.

I guess we have a siren real close to our window. Went off for a bit and it ended. Lots of heavy rain, but that was it. Watching the news, looked like Bloomington got hit with major rain. Cars were pulling over to the side of 494. The weather guy for chl. 5 is a moron. When the rain it the State Fair, he was talking about people at the fair are not listening to him because he told people to take shelter for the last 20 minutes. How many people are watching the news while at the fair?!?!?!

Was at LTD, due to a couple of friends calling me up (and who I haven't seen in a few years, they were in town). Everything from Hwy 7 to Minnetonka Blvd lost power. LTD's lights flickered a bit, but man, the difference between there and Cedar Lake Road...it looks like all hell broke loose.

Just some rain in the northern bits of apple valley. But the sirens, tv, and phone alerts went off a couple times for tornado warnings. Those alerts on the cell phones might literally scare the shit out of you if they go off in the middle of the night. Holy crap are they loud!

I swear those alerts, and the Amber Alerts are louder than the settings one has for alerts/notifications.

You can turn them off. I only had to get woken up by it once to figure that out.

That is good to know. Now, how to figure out how to do that on my dumb phone. Still haven't figured out how to put actual numerals in a text, let's put it that way. Yeah, yeah, shuddup. 😉

We got 9 tenths of an inch of rain last night. The most rain we have had in one rainfall since May 30th. Harvest will begin soon, and not expecting anything great this year.

It's been interesting to look at the fields when I've been driving to jobsites over the last month how patchy the "good" and the "bad" fields look. There were several corn fields over by Marshall that weren't even knee high two weeks ago. Then you have plenty of corn fields that were ginormous by Blue Earth. The only place I've been in South Dakota was Aberdeen and by the looks of the drought monitor that area is doing the best which I would confirm with what I saw. Looking at the drought monitor I realize why you have a dismal outlook around the Sioux Falls area.

I have only been close to a tropical storm once but can't imagine what it's like knowing a TS or hurricane could nail your home/area. It must be excruciating to know what could happen.

People wonder why live in the midwest. Well, you can see a tornado coming. Yes you can see a hurricane coming, but you can't exactly just take shelter. Don't get me started on earthquakes or wildfires. 😉

Storm near us has been raised to a Level 4 although if the path holds we should not see more than heavy rain.

I had the Key West radar up on the storm geek software on one of my monitors pretty much all day. There were a lot of tornado warnings on that track where the lighting was, particularly in Southeast Florida.
Also, I saw the eyewall replacement happening and it went from about 20 miles across, which is already pretty big, up to about 35.
Latest forecast looks like it's going to land a bit farther south, so the Ft Myers area is about to get slammed. If anyone happens to be in that area right now, please get yourself to safety.

Is there still a GPL’r living on Sanibel Island. I hope things go well in that area.
I have a friend whose parents have a winter home in port charlotte. Thankfully they haven’t gone south yet.
