It's just one of the pieces of trivia I know for no good reason.
I glided though high school with a 2.5 and college with a 3.0. I somewhat embarrassed cause I never tried in either. Did the very minimum just to get by. Though my brain is full of useless info and memories. One night at trivia night at OC back in the day. The category was jelly beans and I knew all 5 questions... lol!!!

B) Which band/artist has the most songs reaching #2 on the Billboards without reaching #1?

B. I believe I’ve heard this is CCR before.
Correct.
Funny thing about CCR. Growing up I would go to summer bible camp for a couple weeks every summer. One of the rules was we were suppose to not play secular music. The cabin I was in, we were playing CCR. A counselor came by and asked us what kind of music we were playing. Our reply was "revival music". He just walked away shaking his head with a chuckle.
