I didn't see anything written on GPL about this but I wanted to make sure it wasn't lost. I guess I am little behind on the news (too busy with work) but I saw today that David La Vaque passed away in late July at an all too young 50 years old.
We got to know each other during the 1990s as he covered Gopher Hockey for the MN Daily student paper for several years. Ahh the good old days...
I hadn't interacted with him in a while but he was a good person who always enjoyed getting the "scoops"... especially in his days at the Daily where he would lurk on the Pride on Ice board and look for tips (for any of you youngsters, Pride on Ice or "POI" was the first dedicated college hockey message board for the Gophers and it was a truly amazing place... if you think the hard core debates get rough here, it was way worse on POI... you needed to put on kevlar at times on that board).
I know he posted a bit on Pride on Ice back then though I can't recall what his username was. Heck, I vaguely remember that it may have been his name (or some form of it).
I think the last time I talked to him face to face was the 2001 season opening press conference at Mariucci for the Gophers... and we know how that season ended.
Of course, he went on to write on high school hockey and other sports for the Star Tribune. Anyway... he cared about the Gopher program and I just wanted to remember him here.
Watching the Viking game today reminds me of NCAA hockey playoffs the volume keeps going up and down😡

Anyone else having issues with B1G+ billing? I added a year in June (the discount) and I just got an email stating that my renewal date is in September. I double checked my credit card and the charge was posted June 25. I'm in the process of trying to get things straightened out.
No issues here. I got the e-mail in the last couple days that my subscription was renewing in mid-September for the new $29 price (based on the 70% off or whatever it was code). But no charges previously (other than last September)
I changed my CC to Bigtenplus, it is showing active I have not received any emails from Bigtenplus, am I ok?

Wild announce that their games will be streaming on Prime. You do not need a Prime membership to get access. Cost is $20 per month or $100 per year. If you do have Prime, you still need to add on the Wild package to watch games.
Dallas announces their games will be streaming on Prime. All you need is a Prime membership. No add ons. No extra cost.
I know it’s technically a deal compared to having a FanDuel sub just to watch them, but for me it’s an additional cost and I’m simply tapped out. The Wild will be another team I slowly stop caring about, much like the Twins. Keeping B1G+ as long as I can, because if there’s one team I’m going to spend money on it is Gopher hockey.

Sounds like it'll still be on traditonal cable/satellite/steaming though too so if you stream YouTubeTV, Sling, Fubo, etc. you'll still get them. The Prime offering is just more of a standalone product.

It would be nice if YouTube TV did something like this. I started with YTTV in 2022 I think and they didn't carry FanDual/Bally during the time I have had it. So I never saw the games. Hopefully this changes.

This is more reasonable. I refused to pay to watch the Twins. But the Twins channel shows up on my Comcast lineup for free. I was hoping the Wild would do the same.
Sounds like the Wolves will be subscription based too and only on an app...
I refuse to pay $100+ subscriptions to watch all of our teams. It's getting ridiculous.

Yeah, YTTV hasn’t had wild/wolves games for quite some time now. If that changes I’ll be ecstatic. If not, ah well nice knowing ya Wild.

I have to say they don't do the best job of explaining this. They make it sound like Prime is the only way to watch. Their Tweet says "Wild+ is coming soon to Prime Video." No mention of it also being available on cable. Why would they not include this important piece of information.
I always thought TV was a much larger portion of revenue over tickets. But they seem determined to booger that up. Did this all come from the BTN becoming such a larger revenue generator for college sports? Now every pro team thinks they need their own channel? BTN has 18 schools playing multiple sports in large markets. Not sure the Twins, Wolves and Wild have and chance of doing this on their own.

@gopher6 Wild are still on cable (for sure) and satellite tv (I think) if you have the package that televises them. My understanding is for the TWolves, streaming is the only option. This isn’t the year 1977 gopher6, NOTHING is free anymore.

Same! They were so good. My first job at my large east side of the Twin Cities employer was a janitor and they helped me get through many nights. I definately got a lot of strange looks since I was laughing hysterically when listening to Sports Warp or Monday Night Sports talk.

I'm sure they COULD'VE, but maybe the juice isn't worth the squeeze for all the preseason games...plus I think they're still getting all that infrastructure situated behind the scenes as the whole "new Wild channel" thing was pretty late developing.

I have been getting NFLredzone for years now I used to be able to Multiview on my cable tv and watch multiple games on up to 4 channels. This year they want you to pay more and watch the other games on YouTube TV

Yes. But you need to be outside of Minnesota to watch.
- Cable TV (Spectrum): The NHL finalized an agreement with Spectrum (Charter) to carry 67 local Wild games for its subscribers within the broadcast territory. Deals with major providers like Comcast Xfinity or DirecTV have not been finalized yet.
