The worst part is he was probably the best PBP guy on the station.

I wonder if he's not saying anything officially yet but he might move to the 9-12 WCCO radio spot...
He'll either do radio or work on a candidate's political campaign. These seem to be the most followed paths for TV news people.

Today was my last day with #mnwild. I wanted to thank everyone who has read my work the last 6 seasons (11 going back to the NHL dot com days). Telling this team’s story has been an honor.

A random Monday combined with "don't know what is next" seems to be a lay-off or firing
My first day at WCCO was April 1, 2003. My last on the anchor desk will be June 23, 2022. I've had an unbelievable run and am not totally walking away from here – they’ve asked me to stay as a special correspondent. For now – thank you! pic.twitter.com/6emne6kvgT— Jason DeRusha (@DeRushaJ) May 24, 2022

Well I was like 80% right. He gets 3-6 and they do.sime other shuffling.
The Goof on the Roof? Oh man..
Still better than anything on SKOR though
Kinda tired of The Current's attitude of "Hey, is there ANY reason we can play Prince all day? Anything?"
I love Prince, but JFC, give it a rest. I don't need to hear Prince a dozen times a day at work. It's why I stopped listening to other stations at work. Don't need (insert band) that often.

Bally Sports releasing their streaming service on June 23. MSP not included in the initial launch. Still $20/month or $190/year.

This year, NFL Thursday night games are exclusively on Amazon. Next year, they will be adding a Black Friday Amazon only game. As a non streamer, this doesn't make me happy.

As someone who watches at most one NFL game a week I am all for it. Hell throw the whole schedule on Amazon for all I care!
Rachel Blount of the Star Tribune (who has covered Gopher Hockey) was recently diagnosed with gallbladder cancer.
I first met her during the season opening press conference at Mariucci during the 2001-2002 championship season. She has been around a long time and is a nice person.
If you have a moment to provide her some encouragement, she has a Caring Bridge site. It would be nice to see Gopher fans support her:

Rachel interviewed me for a story about fandom once I do believe and she was awesome to chat with...cancer sucks.
Dan Gladden to be on KFAN at 4pm to talk about his induction into the Twins hall of Fame
Aloha!
wow. Mike Max out at WCCO radio.
Still on tv.
Bally's has announced a launch date of Sept 26th for its new app. It will be $19.99 a month or $189.99 a year ( $15.84 ). It includes the Wild and T Wolves, but not the Twins as of now. Article doesn't mention Gopher Hockey.

It is a matter of time...
Also, at the end of the Twins game, BSN said they don't have Friday nights game. So I did a quick search-- Fox, MLB, FS1, ESPN. No luck, so I looked online and sure enough, Fridays Twins game is on Apple+. :ddown:

The deal is very NFL like. All major networks and slotting the games from noon to late. Amazing how the B1G was able to scoop up all those networks once the SEC went all in on ESPN.
I am very excited for the CBS broadcasts. They do a really nice job with the SEC and it sounds like will have the same production/announcers for the B1G as well.
I also read that NBC will promote their Saturday Night Football broadcasts much like they do their Sunday night ones for the NFL. That has the potential to be awesome.
Should be fun!

Love having B1G on CBS. I don't know why (technically) but the CBS picture is so much better than what ABC/ESPN puts out there.

I believe ESPN & Fox (B1G Network) broadcast in 720 and CBS is in 1080.

$100M per year payout for UMN will be huge. Our entire athletic budget last sane year was around $130M, so this will give us lots of leeway.

Absolutely. I will be curious to see if any of those escalation clauses come to fruition (Oregon/Wash/ND/Stanford) and what that will do to increase the cash flow.
Also Warren seemed confident that some sort of additional package from the B1G might be available in the streaming realm. That will be interesting as well.

Manning cast returns for 10 games.
Like last year, brothers Peyton and Eli will conduct a companion broadcast to Monday Night Football 10 times. The schedule consists of Week One (Broncos at Seahawks), Week Three (Cowboys at Giants), Week Four (Rams at 49ers), Week Seven (Bears at Patriots), Week Eight (Bengals at Browns), Week Nine (Ravens at Saints), Week 13 (Saints at Buccaneers), Week 14 (Patriots at Cardinals), Week 15 (Rams at Packers), and the Monday night of Wild Card Weekend.

B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

I did read that the media payout will be closer to $85M/school which will be up from the $58M it is right now.
The extra $27M should go a long ways for Minnesota. They are carrying about $150M of debt and have been getting about $8M of institutional support which they shouldn't be doing.
I can easily see the $19M being split up to 1/3 to debt service, 1/3 to coaching/admin salary increases for retention and 1/3 to student-athletes as they'll be able to start paying players $6k each for 'academic financial support' after the NCAA v Alston case.
Not sure where else to put this, and I won't be leaving any comments to avoid any political chat on the topic:

Will John Lydon comment?
