Greg Gagne. Played stellar defense at Shortstop. Never a great hitter, but he came through in the clutch with a lot of big hits in the playoffs.

Ulf Dahlen. Ok... he's probably better than a "role player", but he was great in the corners.

Nick Punto. Underappreciated. :)

It's been a while.

What is your favorite piece of sports memorabilia that you own? (could be anything relating to any sport).

Mine is an authentic Gopher Hockey jersey. It was given to me a Gopher Athletic Department employee. This particular jersey was used as a "demo" jersey for when recruits would come in and see their name on the back of a jersey. He also gave me a WCHA anniversary patch that I had sewn on it.

Honorable mention is my collection of Nolan Ryan baseball cards. I'm a HUGE Nolan fan and collected his cards when I was a kid. Unfortunately I don't have his high value rookie card.

I have an autographed picture of Ernie Banks. Never saw him play but It’s awesome. I also have a signed mini stick from the gophers 2002 team signed by all the players, and as a kid that was the best thing ever.

I got GE a signed Lafleur puck. His fav player from back in the day.

I bought on auction a very large framed photo of the Miracle celebration signed by Jim Craig.

A baseball and bat signed by Reggie Jackson, the same from Rod Carew.

Picture of myself standing behind the Gophers at Boston Garden after they won their first Frozen Four. My daughter had it blown up and framed.

That same pic is now hanging on the wall at Mariucci. When we go to a game with other people it's a fun thing to point out.

I have a metal Goldy logo from the corner of the old scoreboard (about 2.5ftx2.5ft). I also have an original blueprint of Mariucci dated from 92 or 93. It's huge too, probably 4ftx3ft.

I like to grab things that few or no other people would have. I could have grabbed the MINNESOTA metal board, too, but it was like 12-14 feet tall and I couldn't see a place for it.

I officiated in the MnJHL, CSHL, NAHL, USHL, SPHL, CHL, ECHL, and WCHA. I took a logo puck from every barn I went to. I now have a small wall of over 100 pucks, including some from some pretty obscure places; Rio Rancho, NM, Tupelo, MS, Laredo, TX, Soldotna, AK, Wenatchee, WA... Lots of stories and memories both on and off the ice. Lots of teams and leagues that are now defunct.

Something my kids will have to clean out when I die and shake their heads saying "why did Dad save all this crap...?!?" HAHA.

Behind the back row of players, starting from the right (the Herb Brooks side) I'm between the 3rd and 4th Gopher helmet. I'm wearing a gold skating gopher sweatshirt. Dark hair, big forehead.

I have a game ball given to me by my high school baseball coach for a playoff game I won. It has the score, date, and my pitching line. 7 innings, 6 hits, 1 BB, and 3 K's. It sits in a display cube on the corner of my desk.

I got to know Harry Broadfoot when I collected Adam Hausers goalie equipment for the MN History Center. He tried to give me a jersey but I told him it was unethical for me to accept a gift worth that amount of money. He said how about a puck? I said that was ok, but only if he signed it. He was embarrassed and pleased. So I have a personally autographed Gopher game puck sitting on my office shelf. Next to the give-away Goldy bobble head.

I have a Kirby Puckett autographed baseball I got back in college when I used to go to the Dome once In awhile for autographs. I was a huge Kirby fan ever since my first baseball game at 6 years old, so it was like meeting my childhood hero

I have way too much stuff in the man cave, signed posters, sticks, pucks etc. but my 3 favorites are--

1. Signed Thomas Vanek SF Stampede Bobblehead

2. A seat from Mariucci when they updated the club level.

3. A photo of Wooger and I was from the 2012 Frozen Four that he later signed.

I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.

My parents bought a Titan hockey stick back in the day and had Wayne Gretzky sign it for me, "To Bertogliat. You're Pal, Wayne Gretzky."

When my kids started playing hockey and I needed a stick to practice with them, I looked at the price of new sticks, then back at my autographed stick and decided My Pal wouldn't want me to spend $200 on a new stick. LOL.

I have a refurbished bench from Memorial Stadium where the football team played for some 60 years. It's painted Maroon except for the row and numbers of our season tickets, which are painted in Gold.

Have a basketball signed by all of the Wolves players from roughly 20 years ago. I won it in a private suite raffle that I attended. The team were terrible so the ball is probably worthless, other than it is an official, unused NBA ball from back then.

Have No. 342 of 500 Terrence Fogerty paintings of the new Mariucci Arena when it first opened. John Mariucci and Herb Brooks are shown in the foreground, sitting in the stands.

And last, but not least - at least to me - I have the original puck, shot by yours truly, that scored the winning overtime goal in the Catholic State Tournament Championship Game, way back in 1965.

Touchdown Towel signed by Jack Del Rio

Martin Brodeur certified Upper Deck autographed card

Jon Casey and Gump Worsley autographed pucks, got signed in person.

So I'm 54 years old which I know isn't THAT old but as far as the sports world goes I got a reminder today that I am old.

I remember Milt Wagner as a a player for 1980's Louisville hoops.

I also remember Milt's son Dajaun as a one-and-done (and NBA bust) for early 2000's Memphis.

I just read today that Dajaun's son Dajaun Jr. is the top ranked recruit for 2023 and eligible for 2024 NBA draft.

Anyone have something similar that reminded them that they are old?

Wilt was 20 years old in 1983 and Dajuan Jr will be 18 years old in 2023? 19 years between generations isn't record breaking, but they aren't giving you enough time to process, I guess. LoL

I have an old colleague who became a grandmother just after she turned 35. This was back in 2002 or 2003 so she could be a great grandmother now for all I know

Played my first men’s hockey game of the season last night. Between my effort level, my body’s inability to do what my brain thought it should do, passing on beers to get gone early and being sore as hell this morning, nothing really comes to mind that would remind me that I am old....

Our early 30s neighbors wanted us to watch their house for a few days. I joked that I’d be like Mrs Kravitz looking through our front window. They said “Who?”

That made me feel old. :censored:

Saw this topic on Twitter.

Who is the most famous person you have shaken hands with?

For me it's Kirby Puckett. I used to volunteer at his celebrity 8 ball tournament and had the opportunity to meet him. Very good guy.

When I was a waiter during college I waited on a table with Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes and Don King and two women. This was when Larry Holmes was the current heavyweight champion. Don King called Ali "champ" and the women did not do very much talking :)

I remember that the table was pretty loud. A nearby table on a lower tier asked their waiter to tell that group to lower the volume, and their waiter told them he move them to another table instead. When they stood up to move and saw who it was they understood why the waiter did not ask them to be quiet!

Who is the most famous person you have shaken hands with?

For me it's Kirby Puckett. I used to volunteer at his celebrity 8 ball tournament and had the opportunity to meet him. Very good guy.

For me it was probably Jack Welch or Vince Flynn. I did get a fist bump from Scottie Pippen once as well

I’ve been kissed on the cheek by Clint Eastwood and got drunk with Quentin Tarantino. Not at the same time! :biggrin2:

Quentin would demand that YOU do the kissing. Fair warning.
