Yesterday we had to say goodbye to our dog Kody of 16 years. Fortunately the kids were here in December and got to see him one last time, and I had all of them on the phone talking to him as it was time. Kid 1 is in the U.S, Kid 2 and Patti are still in Bangkok.
I keep expecting to see him sleeping in his bed or begging for a treat. But he had a good life, was well loved, saw multiple countries, chased a lot of squirrels and licked a lot of faces.

My condolences on the loss of your handsome little guy, losing a pet is never easy. It sounds like you gave him a life full of grand adventures! He’s off chasing another one now, where all the good dogs go. 🐶
I'm so sorry for your loss @slap-shot I lost a dog last March and it was tough. We recently got another dog and it took me a good couple weeks to not call out our old dog's name Layla. As I said when we lost Layla, animals are such a wonderful gift for the time we get to have them.

Way ahead of you Vikings! Spending this coming December in Graz Austria. One of the biggest Krampus parades in Europe, it will literally pass in front of our VRBO. Been to Munich, Bertasgarden, Prague and several US parades. Here I am with an alpine Perchen, another pagan variation along the lines of Krampus. This was such a tiny village we were the only tourists.

Born and raised in Winona, bluff country, laugh when some people come here and are amazed at the mountains😂. 57 and have 2 great kids 19 and 21. Daughter is a junior at the U son is following more in my steps going to trade school.
Machinist/toolmaker at the same company for 33 years now.
Duck and bow hunting kinda my thing, played baseball and hockey into highschool. Coached my son’s 10A baseball team and won the MBT state title in 2017.
my beautiful (inside and out) 43 year old girlfriend of 8 years now is the true love of my life soulmate, she also hunts and fishes sometimes and plays on our 40 acres of land with me. Pretty much do everything together.
The movie “The Sandlot” pretty much sums up my childhood life. I was lucky to have a neighborhood with kids that played all different sports year round.
I have 2 older sisters that are smart rich and now retired. Our dad, my best friend, hunting partner, hero, died from cancer at the age of 84 in 2022. He worked till he was 80 and didn’t smoke.
Favorite movies: Miracle, grumpy old men, jaws, Christmas Vacation, and Clueless.
when I bought my first house I was 23, I really loved hockey pretty much my entire life but it was during that time I really got addicted and attached to the gophers. I think they gave me that stay at home and behave myself on the weekends feeling when I wanted to get up early the next morning to hunt with my dad so it was really a win win that’s still true today.
Went to the “02” Championship against Maine, in “03” I drove up to the celebration at Mariucci and they kicked me out of the family only section.
Been to the Bahamas, Cocoa beach Florida, Wyoming, Lexington Kentucky, Lake Tahoe. (North Dakota to hunt ducks for the past 22 years.)
Can sing anything by Johnny Cash pretty good I guess but like all music except screaming heavy music with a bad beat.
I think I remember coming to this site way back when my daughter was born and while she napped I liked adult conversation about the gophers and it helped pass the time until nap was over.😂

My grandparents are buried in the Catholic cemetery in RS, there are a lot of Steffes' there.

So since I’m on a roll 😁 A little factoid, watching gopher hockey on tv all the time going back to the barn times and goldy on that perch waving the broom, always wishing I was there, thinking how lucky those fans were to score tickets since they seemed impossible to get then. Whether they were I don’t know for sure but it was a packed house every game and just seemed like I’d never get there. When I finally got to a game at mariucci it was a first round playoff with tech wanna guess 2001. At that time I didn’t own anything gophers except hats so I not only felt like the only person there not wearing colors I really think I was. I had on my typical outerwear (camo jacket) so that’s how camo coat guy was created.😂 However since then I’ve invested in quit a bit of apparel over the years but still haven’t forgotten where it all started.🍻

Didn't get into Gopher hockey until about 2000, 2001. My then-roommate's fam had season tickets, so he always had the road games on TV, started to get into it a little (I liked hockey, and it was the only TV we had, anyway). Then he intro'd me to USCHO, and it just "asploded" from there.
The dagger was when Mel convinced me to come to a Gopher tailgate near the X, back when the lot was by the magic shop (I think it's a Jimmy John's now) and I met a BUNCH of people (now veterans) on this board.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

Had a gf from Rollingstone and friends in Goodview. Went trout fishing in Rupprecht creek and river fishing along the dike road, only a mile or two from my Minnesota City home.
I lead a Tom Sawyer existence back in the halcyon days of my youth and wouldn't trade it for anything. When I go back there, all those wonderful memories and feelings come rushing back to me but I must admit they come with a touch of melancholy.
