Sat at a table with David Duchovny and Téa Leoni at a wedding back in 1999. My wife said she was not listed on my "Celebrity 5" list. :(

Have hung out with among others The Beastie Boys, members or R.E.M. and The Grateful Dead.

My brother was at various times a batboy for the Twins, ball boy for the Vikings and equipment kid for the North Stars so I've got more autographs than I can count.

I’ve got to meet and work with famous people in line with my job. But my favorite story involves Quentin Tarantino. I’ve told this story to a couple of GPLers privately. Once I got to go to dinner with him and others at Musso and Franks in LA. It’s his favorite restaurant and the opening scene in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is there as a love letter. M&F is famous for their martinis. I’m not a big drinker, really a lightweight, one cocktail maybe two is my limit. That night the martinis kept coming to the table on the house. I was soused. I know I was drunk because when the ancient waiter called me “little lady” I think I giggled. Normally I’d be up on a high horse about that. Plus Quentin commented he liked the fact I’d ordered a steak. No LA female salad with the dressing on the side. You’re at Musso and Franks. Get the GD steak. (Besides, Q was paying Wink )

That's an awesome story right there.

Jeremy Clarkson has tweeted at me twice. I also saw him filming an episode of top gear while living in London.

I went on a school trip to Washington, D.C. in high school. Our class was able to meet with Janet Reno, and the two Minnesota Senators at the time, Dave Durenberger and Paul Wellstone. When we arrived at the Capitol, everything was blocked off around the area. Our group was waved across to the steps, where we met with the Senators. While we were there, the doors opened, and down the stairs came President Clinton, along with others. He stopped and shook all our hands. Whether you agree with his politics or not, it’s a pretty neat experience to meet a sitting president.

Was sitting at the sports book at the old Stardust in Vegas when I was in college. Turned to my left and was sitting right next to Denzel Washington. Had a great conversation about the NBA with him as we were watching yet another T-Wolves collapse. He was a huge fan of Kevin Garnett back then. Good guy, didn't take himself too seriously at all or pull rank-- just enjoyed chatting sports with a fellow fan.

Interviewed David Allen Greer and Tom Arnold for a journalism stint I had. They were laid back, fun people. Left the interview with my sides hurting from laughter.

Have had a number of contacts with former Justice and pro football HOF'er Alan Page. Really down to earth, humble guy who cares deeply about people. Also has the biggest hands of anyone I have ever met.

While in HS, was working my summer job at F.A. Gross Golf Course. Joe Dziedzic walked in on a Sunday, late afternoon when the course was otherwise empty. Dziedzic is a lifelong nordeaster, so that isn't unusual to see him hanging around. But he ordered two carts, paid for three rounds, and asked if the beer cart could come see him on every third hole (which of course we would do for him because nordeast). I took my turn and met them after the third hole and I realized who he was playing with-- his linemates Mario Lemeiux and Jaromir Jagr. It was a "holy sh!t" moment, but because nordeast, it was NBD.

When I working in Charlotte on a client project, I was in the bar eating dinner and ran into John Randle at the bar and my friend recognized him. We chatted with him a bit as he was in town as a speaker for some conference. We ended up going out in Charlotte with him until like 2-3 am. Super nice guy, but a couple funny stories. We went to a bar and based on him being in jeans or not dressy enough, they made a comment about there being a cover, which he just laughed at.

The next day at the airport to go back to MSP, he shows up again and sit and chat. He goes, watch this and tries to get upgraded on the flight, but turns out there were no seats left. Little did he know, I got the last 1st class seat and so when he got on and saw me, he just shook his head and said "you son of a b***h" jokingly.

My mom had a couple interactions, but the best was when she flew to India one time through Europe and she got home and asked me if I knew who the Beach Boys were. I guess she sat next to two members of the band and she had no idea.

Similarily, when she was working at a bank, Daunte Caulpepper came in to open an account for some family member. Apparently, my mom was super helpful and sent her a program signed by him and a couple players. She had no idea who he was and said he was some sort of football player. Only after I open the signed program and showed her the photo did she confirm who it was.

My sister has done some promotional work with John Randle. She echoes that he is a great guy.

When I was 10-12 years old we had North Star season tickets. We were in the nosebleeds, almost the top row. But we sat just a few steps away from the entrance to the Stargazer Club (the bar/restaurant at the old Met) and the walkway up to the press box. The injured/scratched players sat in the press box area, and predictably, just before each period ended everyone would make their way to the bar for a drink between periods. I got autographs from pretty much all of the NS during that time. Goldsworthy, Maniago, Worsley, Hextall, Parise 1.0, etc. Then there were the visiting players Dryden, Orr, Esposito (Tony and Phil), and the biggest thrill Gordie Howe. There was also a lot of Vikings that would go to the games Tarkington, Foreman, Eller. Bob Lurtsema. Bob was great and would call me by name when he'd walk by. Great times and of course, I have no idea where any of those autographs are now!

Hard work will beat talent, if talent doesn't work hard.

What’s your favorite movie? The one you can’t help but watch if it’s on.

I love The Fifth Element, a trashy sci-fi flick starring Bruce Willis. My brother and I both love it and often watch it at the same time and talk on the phone. He named his son Korbin. I immediately knew he’d named him after Bruce but it took my SIL 4 years before she realized her son was named for a dumb character in a second tier film LoL

Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

I servered on the local city council at one time. At the dedication for our new Sr. Center one of the guests was Sen Paul Wellstone.

I thought we were all done with the remarks when the MC laid it on me to say something. I had no idea I would be asked to so I was totally shooting from the hip when I talked about how we had 3 funding streams for the project and how a 3 legged stool is stable.

The Senator is in the front row, hops up and shakes my hand telling me how much it liked my comments. While I aligned generally with the Senator's politics I really respected his passion and character.

I did keep it brief. It was very hot & lots of biting flies. ?

The next winter I am running a job (up scale restaurant) in the Crystal Court of IDS Center. I have work being done in the parking ramp levels in support of the kitchen. I'm walking back to the elevator when the Senator and his "handlers" walk in to the elevator. He turns and looks at me. I say " Hi Senator".

" I know you from someplace dont I?" he asked.

I reminded him and when he asked what I was doing ( I was in jeans, always had to wear a collared shirt as Supt., boots, & had a hardhat on) told him.

He then asked if he could see the job site for a few minutes. " Only for a few minutes. We are all union and time is money," was my response.

His handlers were sooo sooo sooo anxious to get him across the CC and into the elevators to the big buck guys. He was very respectful of time and thanked the crew as he left for the work they did.

As far as I'm concerned I didn't need to agree with him on every thing but knew he was a man that walked the walk.

RIP Paul, Sheila, & the other victims of the crash.

SIX!? My brother would say that was small potatoes. :biggrin2:

It is deliciously captivating isn't it? My little niece did a perfect Ruby Rhod impression when she was 4. That in itself is frightening.

I once sold a pack of gum to Alan Page. In related news, my life is really boring.

For our friends in Fargo-Moorhead, I got paired up in a golf foursome with meteorologist "Too Tall" Tom Sczymanski in about 1999. I reached my hand out and said, "Hi, I'm Jerry". He barely acknowledged me and muttered back, "hi". After a couple of holes I said, "So what do you do for a living, Tom?" and I pretended I was visiting from out of town. He was a complete jerk.

I had never seen it and tried last weekend to watch Bull Durham. It was boring to me and I could not get into it. Gave up about halfway through.

There are several movies I’ll watch if I come across them, but Major League is probably number one on the list.

Armageddon, the Green Mile, and either of the Independence Day movies usually suck me in too.

Boy, I have been away to long and missed another one of Red’s questions.

Celebrity: Unfortunately the list is short. Very short.

1. Ran into Hank Azaria in Vegas many years ago. He seemed flustered walking through Hard Rock so I just said hi.

2. Met Dave Christian 2 summers ago at a Fargo Youth Hockey Golf tournament. Got to hold his gold medal and shoot the shit. Found out he comes to those things and people buy him lots of drinks.

3. Met Josh Duhamel twice a couple months ago. He was in town the weekend of the Fargo Squirt A International. Turns out his good buddies from HS, one coaches Fargo Davies basketball team and the other coaches Grand Forks Red River and they played each other in Fargo. Went to the bar near my house and by the time I had enough liquid courage (a lot of liquid) I went and asked him for a picture for my wife. He said “screw a picture, we are doing a video” and he grabbed my phone and we took a selfie video. Next morning I looked at it and the camera was facing the other way! Ran into him again at the semifinal game Fargo was playing in,

4. The one my son likes to tell people and doesn’t even involve me meeting anyone. There are 4 D1 hockey players who’s parents own cabins on our lake. 2 of them UND players and 2 Gophers. I have met the parents, but not the players. 2 of the players are in our old family cabin that we had from 1953-1997. 1 of them is in my Grandma’s cabin and the 3rd one’s stepmom was our neighbor in our previously mentioned cabin. My 11 year old always wants to cruise by their cabins which we do anyway because of the old memories, but he thinks we will just pull up and drink beer with them if we see them outside!

Can't argue with that. Have you seen "The Stoned Age"? B-version of Dazed And Confused. Great B movie.

Yeah I have. I remember renting it and being super excited because it said it was better than D&C. It wasn’t anywhere close.

Have you seen “Everybody Wants Some”? Supposedly a D&C sequel by Richard Linklater where it is their first day of college. Had it been the original cast, it would have been awesome. It wasn’t so it was a B movie as well.

I have. It's a B movie sequel, but enjoyable. It was a sequel of sorts, I agree with that sentiment. Even WITH OG cast, it was a B movie.

When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

Do you have a good travel story?

My husband and I were in Vietnam and stopped at a small sidewalk tea place. Ratty plastic tables and tiny short stools to sit on, literally on the sidewalk. We had tea and spicy peanuts and chatted away with a group of men sitting there. Then I glanced across to my husband and noticed the owner cleaning the table behind us. He casually picked up half empty glasses of tea and poured them back into the pot he was serving out of! I started laughing so hard and wondering how many people had contributed to the pot? Not so funny in today’s world, but at the time I found it hilarious. We regularly eat street food and seek out local spots vs tourist places, but that might have been just a little “too” local.

Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

I and some friends got a bit lost in the desert at night in Oman and stumbled upon a sheik's party in this gigantic tent, to which they invited us in for food and drinks. When it was over he had one of his guys take a car and lead us back into town.

I’ve shared this story hear before but it bears repeating.

3-4 summers ago my wife and I drove from Twin Cities to Eastern Tennessee for a family reunion. Since we were in no real hurry we drove from here to St. Louis. St. Louis to Nashville and Nashville to Pigeon Forge, TN. On the way from Nashville to Pigeon Forge we decide to stop in Knoxville so I can visit the University of Tennessee campus bookstore and pick up some college garb. Who do I end up running into at the store In Knoxville but Greyeagle. As god as our witnesses, neither of us knew the other one was going to be there. It was just a spur of the moment thing my wife and I decided to do.

One of Mrs. GE's good friends from high school has a place on Norris Lake in TN and we were there for a week. Her husband needed to fly out for biz and they only had one car at their summer place. Instead of her getting up at 4:30AM to drive him to the airport he drove down, parked their car, and we went later so she could drive it back. We roamed around Knoxville and drove around the campus a bit before grabbing their car at the airport. I wanted to see Neyland Stadium so parked and ended up in the shop at the same time Zwak happened to be there. The odds are almost impossible to calculate.

We were able to sneak into the stadium itself, it's amazing!

Going off of the Zwak & GE story...

How about strange occurrences?

My daughter was in Tokyo last summer and ran in to a friend of hers on the street in the middle of Tokyo. Neither of them knew that they would be in Japan. What are the chances of running in to a friend half way across the globe in one of the largest cities in the world?
