Rheaume-Mullen just sold the crap out of a nonexistent headshot lol. Cmon buddy
Wouldn't be a Michigan game without a flop
At the start of one of the penalties in the 3rd they showed Wis as 62nd in PK for the year. Strange. So this season the Gophers had the worst PK in the nation, Badddgers had the second worst PK
Actually the BADgers are 58th
Somebody had a tweet saying they were 62/63 teams and how impressive it was shutting down the Fockers 7th ranked PP so many times. Maybe that was coming into the game. Either way, job well done.

Even if you're a student it's beyond dumb lol, being obsessed over a random playoff game 20 years ago that they weren't involved in is just weird no matter what age you are 🤣 . I'm not gonna wear a Davidson or High Point jersey to a Gopher bouncyball game vs the badgers.I tried to explain the holy cross thing to my buddy who’s a Badger fan and he was confused, understandably 😆 .From my buddy at games in Vegas
- UND brought most fans but Wisconsin a close second. Michigan third and Denver fan support weak.
- Wisconsin fans acting like a kid in candy store shocked to see their team in a game like this. Also very drunk.
- Denver fans the most even tempered. Michigan also largely under control. Apparently wisco fans drinking hard all day and UND fans also pregaming almost as hard as wisco fans.- UND fans took over multiple bars making it hard to drink before the game. Straight up wouldn’t let other fans in at one bar.
- UND fans melted down at game in third period. the Wisconsin fans were also chirping harder than he’s ever seen at a frozen four toward a fanbase which fed the fire of two angry fanbases. It was truly amazing people watching according to him.
- very clear UND was most hated program at the tournament. Most of the fans other than UND were cheering against them. Truly evil empire vibes from the green today.
- that said according to him it’s better when the big schools are in it because the emotions are higher. The problem I have with North Dakota is they seem to have a rudeness, a disrespect to other fans, “cult like” to where they have no interest in conversation unless you’re “one of them.” No thanks not what it should be about imo and for that I disrespect them right back.
its also absurd how rent free we live in their heads. They care more about sniping at their idea of the Gophers than watching their own damn team play. I don’t really think about them unless we’re playing them.
the HC thing to me, expected by their student base to where it’s kinda funny, but when their parents or grandparents are wearing the HC that’s just plain messed up creepy.
True story: I was up at UND with a couple of former GPLers (none Gopher fans, btw) for an MTU series. After the game, which UND won, obviously. Some dude came up to me, "LOL TECH SUCKS ASS!"
"They lost tonight, right?"
It was all I could do to not laugh at this dumbass.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Well the results were about as good as you could’ve asked for today. Need Denver to finish it off on Saturday.
Michigan chokes as badly as Minnesota in the NCAA. They outplayed Denver and doubled up the shots. It was something like 13 or 14 to 3 in shots in OT2.
I think MI was the best team in the tournament but couldn't seal the deal.
Denver's play is unreal once they get in, but I was hoping for a MI win over WI.

I don’t know, everytime I watched them this year there’s always been something off or something missing- they just didn’t seem to have the put-togetherness you usually see out of a #1 overall team. Their defensive corps isn’t very good past Robertson and Barnett, even their vaunted goaltending always underwhelmed me

The stats on GPL were TOO up to date. Luckily the NCAA website had old data and sure enough, UW was 62nd!

Guy at the bar is saying that Denver was way offside for the OT goal? Didn't see that myself, and wondering if the refs looked for it on the review?
Den having 5 PPs to 2 despite the puck being in their end far more often was absurd. There was one play where a DU player pulled down a UMi player, then did it again as the Wolverine was trying to get up and no call despite it happening in the zone where the puck was.

A Couple of thoughts--
We were at a bar that was a non team specific bar, and we had 2 beers, which took 1/2 hour to get when standing in line. How these places are un prepared for Frozen Four events amaze me.
After the game, the Denver fan base that were in attendance were loud and boisterous. In the arena and on the streets.
My early impressions of Vegas as hosts of the FF is still up in the air with 2 days left here.

So far we haven’t run into any a-hole fans but then again we avoided the bars near the arena pre and post game. Have had pleasant conversations even with a couple whioux fans (although got the comment “we are playing as bad as you.”) 🤨
We had reservations pregame and got turned away because the restaurant was apparently broken so they had to boot everyone out…it was close enough to game time we figured it would just be easiest to go in to the arena early - where we overpaid for a couple drinks and underwhelming food.
I gather the area establishments underestimated the college hockey crowd figuring it would just be like a Knights game….
Denver’s 26th shot on goal in the game wins it Michigan had 52. Denver goalie Johnny Hicks, a freshman, made 49 saves to remain undefeated in his career at 15-0-1.
Aloha!
I get tickets every year (and got them again this year), but just not into the Vegas thing and not surprised to hear they were ill prepared for the FF. LIKE AT ALL. I heard that elsewhere yesterday as well.
Over many years, and I'm old school, but I really like St. Paul and Boston the best. Worst....maybe St. Louis? DC?
I do know the Bucky fan I gave my tickets had a pretty good day.
Happy Hockey.

Sitting here at the game surrounded by ND fans finding it surprisingly easy to cheer for the Badgers. Did not think that could ever be possible
I felt dirty cheering for Bucky, but it really made me appreciate the phrase phrase 'lesser of two evils'. After all, I knew the chance of the outcome I was hoping for was slim (ceiling collapsing and no one winning an NC from this field).
I think MI was the best team in the tournament but couldn't seal the deal.

I did see people complaining online that they stopped selling just about any concessions including water after the end of the 2nd period of the MI/DU game and there were no drinking fountains or anything like that in the arena. So you were just SOL for the next almost three periods of hockey.
Guy at the bar is saying that Denver was way offside for the OT goal? Didn't see that myself, and wondering if the refs looked for it on the review?
I just went back and watched it. It's as onside as onside can be. There is one player straddling the line, standing still, at the bottom of the rink. I would say he waits almost too long for the puck to be onside before entering the zone. The player with the puck at the top of the rink was a couple strides into the zone before he came in. There is a play where the puck comes out to the blue line and a player from the bench gets it. It's not a defenseman who was standing there waiting for it. The puck never even gets to to the blue line, so it's still onside by quite a bit.
Caught a replay of it myself after I posted, and same thing. No idea what this guy was talking about.Guy at the bar is saying that Denver was way offside for the OT goal? Didn't see that myself, and wondering if the refs looked for it on the review?

Congrats to Max, hell of a player. Always good to see a MN kid win it.

So UMD now has won 7 Hobey Baker awards
Aloha!
Surprising the game is so early today. 2:30 Vegas time, 4:30 local. Though being Vegas several times, a early start isn’t so bad for the after.
So UMD now has won 7 Hobey Baker awards
It’s DHG’s soapbox to stand on. He wears it on his chest and proudly lets you know.
Actually…has DHG even shown his face on GPL or posted since about ohh….19-20? But…it’s another HOBEY for the U of M system of schools, better than someone from Michigan winning it or Bemidji then transferring to Denver! 🤠So UMD now has won 7 Hobey Baker awards
It’s DHG’s soapbox to stand on. He wears it on his chest and proudly lets you know.
Today’s a tuff choice on who to root for by Gopher loyalists, Denver stacking another Natty in the supposedly random & fickle ONE & DONE tournament (potentially their 6th since 2003) OR the Red Menace adding one representing the beloved BIG? But one piece of good news, the Michigan Natty drought remains 5 years longer than the Gophers!
I would’ve rather seen Michigan than the other teams in the Frozen Four.

Pretty easy. Denver. What does 1 more title for them do? We weren’t catching them anytime soon anyways. Wisconsin on the other hand. I do not to watch them celebrate.

I was looking for an NHL game to watch last night and they had zero games. Why can’t the NHL and college hockey agree to some sort of schedule for the frozen four. Thursday no NHL games. Friday they can have all the games they want. Saturday, play the champ game at like 2-3 and NHL games start at 6-7. Grow the game and put the eyes on college for a couple of days.

Openly cheering for the cheesedicks could lead to a ban. As it should.

So, today, it's either the B1G finally wins the tournament, or WisconSIN loses. Kind of a win-win scenario.
Bummer. Was looking forward to him moving on.

really selling some high quality college hockey out here today
Curious how much of what Denver looks like today is due to the 3 OT game they played. You’d think with a full day to recover they’d be fine but late finish and early gamw today isn’t ideal.
A Hastings team with a one goal lead going into the third of a NCAA title game. What could go wrong?

Denver and David Carle certainly don’t mind the one and done format. Unreal run for them and Carle.
Denver once again proving how important it is to have an elite goalie.

I do get a little tired of Gopher fans using the one and done format as an excuse. Obviously it isn’t ideal but Denver has figured out a formula that works.
