Wow, that's bad, don't know that I ever saw tracking THAT far off

You never had to manually adjust tracking on a VCR, did you?

I was thinking you'd have had that experience, but I wasn't sure. That GIF is a VERY poorly alligned VCR read head, in dire need of tracking adjustment.

Gonna try something new tonight....

A GPL Quick Shift podcast... This is where we will have more focused conversations with special guests. Usually 10-20 minutes long, but we will not always stick to that. It will just be a bit different that a regular GPL Podcast.

Tonight we are kicking it off with former Gopher Mike Carman! This past weekend he jumped on twitter with some of his disappointments with the fans, so we are going to have him on to talk about what is on his mind.

I will live broadcast this just like the regular podcast. Look for us to go live just after 6pm tonight!

I’m at work so couldn’t listen in. How was it? Can I get the cliff notes?

Probably just me, but I found it by going to the Podcast page, then clicking on Google Play.

There are so many ways to listen... You can listen via the web on the individual podcast post. On your Android phone with Google Play and other apps. On your iPhone with the Apple Podcast app and other apps. Another good place is Spotify.

Basically you can do a Google search and find it anywhere. We are even on the well publicized iHeart Radio app as well. We didn't even submit it, but like many others, picked up the podcast on their own.

I like how the “quick shift” was like 4 minutes shorter than last weeks regular podcast. Carman must have ran a little long!

I really liked the podcast with Carman, he did a pretty good job giving his view which as an alumni is an important view to hear from. I look forward to more of these quick shift podcasts...great job Jup!

I would like to keep them under 20 minutes in length... But if we get a good guest like we had with Mike Carman last night, I don't want to have a time limit.

I know that an Icebox representative wanted to talk about a few things on the regular podcast, but I think it would work best on a Quick Shift. I think that if [mention]Vegoe[/mention] or myself run in to someone at Mariucci that would make a great QS, we can grab that audio with our phones and then just edit in to a recording with the intro and whatnot.

So we'll see where the goes.

Thanks for getting Mike on the bonus podcast. I hope his view that alumni should get involved & support the current roster (and coaching staff) is representative of former players. Little doubt he bleeds Maroon and Gold.

His insight that "Gopher teams are always young" is important. Even though others might field an older roster, there is an expectation of quality play from Minnesota regardless of the age.

Again, thanks for the podcast. Hope to hear more from other program stakeholders during the balance of the season.

The QS is a GREAT idea ?

So.... I am thinking that some of the "Quick Shift" podcast may get very long if we have special guests on. So I think we will need a name change. I put it out on Twitter. But what should we call these more topic specific podcasts that may be short and long? But still use a hockey term?

Can't use "Overtime"... We already use that for the people that listen LIVE after we complete the recorded version of the podcast.

Any thoughts?

We already miss him posting here on the board but now his absence will be felt on the podcast. Thank you again Hammy for sharing the love for the Gophers with the rest of us rubes here on GPL.

Finally listened to the podcast. You guys really went down the rabbit hole of talking about hockey in Iowa?! I know, you were just covering all the college hockey topics. I agree with @Vegoe that it will take a BIG donor to make it happen even with the arena already being built. Then the big question will be what sport will the university add to meet Title IX requirements? I would love for the arena to host a regional but I really think that Iowa having a D1 hockey team is a dream that is a long long time away IMO.

We also moved away from streaming the audio on Mixlr and have started to stream on the GPL YouTube Channel. The plan is to post full videos, but I forgot to record the Zoom meeting. So below is the raw video of the podcast with a few minutes of pre show and quite a bit of "Overtime". This is the live stream, so it jumps in at the end, so you need to click on the beginning of the stream to see the entire thing.

The funny thing is that I am pretty sure that I was doing the hand thing all these years while recording the podcasts. It's just no one saw it. LOL!!!

Hey! I listened to/watched the last one. I like the concept of the Youtube channel podcast, you can see the gestures and such when Vegoe and Jup were talking, added character and emphasis to what they were saying.

We are going to try to do all video from here on out.... Well, as long as my work gives me access to the Zoom Pro account.

We have Paul Caponigri scheduled as our guest on the Sunday show between PSU and OSU.

FYI - we switched to using MS Teams almost exclusively at work because there is no fee and no time limit to the video. Not sure if that's compatible with what you're trying to do, but an FYI in case you lose access to Zoom Pro.
