GPL Podcast & Live Broadcasts

I want to keep better track of the podcast downloads so I signed up for PodTrac. With that, they offer an embedded player for the podcast. So I installed it on the podcast page and I was wondering if a few of you could check it out? I want to make sure it works on Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, tablets and all. Tried it this morning and worked fine, kind of a nice feature really. I am running Windows 7 and Chrome browser.

Looks nice, though I probably won't use it. Whenever I listen to a podcast, I download the audio and speed it up 15%. You really don't notice the difference, except when Dubay is talking. (I used to have a DVD player that would play movies 10% faster and that worked great, too. For many movies, 20% was still not noticeable. Blue-rays don't due that so well.)

On my computer (Windows 7) the player works fine with both Chrome and Firefox. Tried it out on my phone (Galaxy Note 2) and it launches the typical "what app do you want to open this in" window, I chose just the "Sound player" and it seemed to get going just fine.

Are we not able to download to our computers any longer? The live player in the web interface is nice, but my connection at work can get spotty for streaming at times, so I've always downloaded and listened "offline"

I also could not find the download.

I wanted to streamline a bit. So instead of having to always update 2 files, I only have to update 1 with this new player. But I will post a direct link each week for those of you that want it.

Nope. I just started to use a tracking service yesterday called PodTrac. The url for the episode now goes through a redirect by PodTrac so they can track the downloads.

Jup.... is that you that has the oversensitive microphone that picks up the sound of your typing and the mouse scroll-wheel clicking?

Actually.... I think it's Vegoe's microphone. He is wearing earbuds with built in microphone with his iPhone. The "mic" is built in to the volume controls on the cord that hangs down below your neck. So if he moves at all, the mic rubes up against his clothes.

I will see if he can clip that part of his cord to his shirt so it does not rub. I think that was the problem with Mazzocco recently too.

Not sure if it's him or not, but the rhythm of the sounds is very much like intermittent typing, not the mic rubbing up against something.

But the mic sound is more noticeable.

Actually, as I think about it, that style of mic would be very sensitive to things like typing and the mouse-wheel clicks, given the proximity, compared to a headset.

Podcast this season...

I may have problems doing the Podcast this season. I just won't know for a while. FYI we bought some property and want to build on it. First we have to sell our current house before we build our new house. Once we sell, we will be renting a place until the new house is built. During that time, I may not have internet that is good enough to do a podcast. I may not have internet at all except my phone. So doing a podcast will just not work. I will keep you updated, but Podcasts could be far and few in-between this coming season.

Looks like Vegoe and I go it alone... call the podcast something else until Jup can get his act together.

I bet the new, sprawling, palatial Jup estate will include a state-of-the-art recording studio.

Fuck that shit. There is nothing better than getting on a plane for a business trip, throwing on the head phones and listening to a couple GPL podcasts. Before you know it, the plane is landing and I am pumped for the next game.

Vegoe connected via Skype which is easy to do on your phone.

I take that Skype audio from Vegs & Hammy, my audio, and other added audio on to their own tracks and record it in GarageBand. At the same time I take all of that audio and broadcast it live with Mixlr. This is stuff I just can’t do on my phone. I pretty much have a studio setup on my computer with different software working in unison do produce a Podcast & Live Broadcast at the same time.

So far I have scheduled 19 podcasts for the season. (on the hockey Cal) A few more could be added depending how far the team goes in to the NCAA's.

I don't think there's any chance I'll be awake when this is live. Can I throw 3 out there here? (Not expecting them all just trying to improve my odds)

Enjoyed the pod cast with Frank. It's funny to listen to him react to when the rest of the team goes all-in aggressive on a negative opinion and he tries to temper a bit given his role as broadcaster.

I really enjoy the episodes where you have a guest (Frank, Nate Wells, Dave Schwartz, etc...). All are great, but Frank is my favorite. I actually find him to be surprisingly candid on the podcast, given that he's still employed by the university (indirectly?). He's not calling a player a cement anchor like Hammy, but he does offer opinions.

EDIT: Forgot that DHG was a guest on a show or two... so I guess not ALL guests are great.

You should hear both Frank and Wally when they are not on the air....

I noticed today that the Podcast page won't load on Firefox. Not a big deal, I just pulled up Chrome instead (been slowly migrating to Chrome anyway) and it works fine there.

Strange. I just was able to load that page on Firefox. But it is not the most recent version of FF. So who knows.
