I have created a new picks type of contest for GPL'ers. It's called "Gopher Strike" because it is based off of how bowling is scored. I want to TEST this for the remainder of the season to work out all of the bugs before next season. The more people that play it, the more testing we can get in! You can learn more about what the game is, how it works, and how it is scored on the new contest page.

Let's get some picks in starting for the games next weekend. It works pretty well on mobile which is key. Tell me what you think?
Big thanks to @greyeagle , @steve-mn , @chris-eckes and @eric-vegoe on testing it this weekend with me over on the staging server! I spent the last few days getting this custom plugin created so there will be bugs, but we'll work our way through it.

I want to keep it simple, but I like the idea.
This type of game will always start slow because of the 3 game ramp up. I would think that the end of a season would be a bit weird, but with playoff games added, it could be a pretty fun. No matter what those last two games will not get full a full bonus, but I still like this game.

I checked the logic and it was set to not display anything for a missed pick. I have updated the logic to now to show 0 if a pick was not made. Maybe you noticed this new picks game after it closed for the game tonight? Or forgot to save? But that was actually good since I could see how the code reacted and to update it.

@jupiter Yes, I saw this after the Game had started so saved picks for the remaining games.

can someone explain how getting the first pick right and the next one wrong (and thus 0 points) led to going from 1pt. to 4pts.? The math makes sense for all the other players except for five of us (currently #14-18).
what am I missing here?

Now I need to figure out if I can implement @boats idea or not. The leaderboard is already very busy, so I will need to figure that all out.
But what else could we do for a game like this? We only did roughly 1/3 of a season, so I am guessing that there is a less chance of ties over a full season. But I may need to add some sort of tiebreaker in to it. I just do not want to make this too involved and complex. But I am open to all of your ideas!

I have make it so when a user gets a "frame" correct, the background is green, when they get it wrong it is red. That is a little bit cleaner than adding a 6th cell to the frame.

That looks great. Good implementation!
Still tweaking a revised interface for Gopher Strike, but it is up and running for the coming season. Cleaned up the interface and also added a feature to flip the axis of the data you are looking at. You can flip so the game picks are vertical instead of horizontal. Same with the leaderboard, but that doesn't make a much difference. Just a preference.

Basically...
Each games is a theoretical 0-3 pts. 0 and 1 equals a "loss" because even 1pt feels like a loss. lol
A win is 2-3 points the team gained.
