"Gopher Strike" a new GPL Picks Game!

Seems super cool! Any way to make it roll out week by week? Could be fun to add a “pick a gopher goal scorer” as a tiebreaker game by game?

I want to keep it simple, but I like the idea.

This type of game will always start slow because of the 3 game ramp up. I would think that the end of a season would be a bit weird, but with playoff games added, it could be a pretty fun. No matter what those last two games will not get full a full bonus, but I still like this game.

Can't wait for the first one.

I checked the logic and it was set to not display anything for a missed pick. I have updated the logic to now to show 0 if a pick was not made. Maybe you noticed this new picks game after it closed for the game tonight? Or forgot to save? But that was actually good since I could see how the code reacted and to update it.

I’m probably going to lose my streak of one after tonight…if ya know what I’m sayin’.  😁

I certainly hope my 1-game streak ends tonight.

Mine did. 🤬

I see there were a few other optimists tonight. 😂

@jupiter  Yes, I saw this after the Game had started so saved picks for the remaining games. 

As you see in the standings, I’m a homer when it comes to fun games w/o money…

I suck at math (and bowling). 
can someone explain how getting the first pick right and the next one wrong (and thus 0 points) led to going from 1pt. to 4pts.? The math makes sense for all the other players except for five of us (currently #14-18).

what am I missing here?

I'll have to check the logic. This is why we are testing.

Can you add another square to show what people put for each game so it is easier to see at a glance?

@boats I will take a look at that in the off-season. Great idea

@joegopher wins our little test for Gopher Strike!

Now I need to figure out if I can implement @boats idea or not. The leaderboard is already very busy, so I will need to figure that all out.

But what else could we do for a game like this? We only did roughly 1/3 of a season, so I am guessing that there is a less chance of ties over a full season. But I may need to add some sort of tiebreaker in to it. I just do not want to make this too involved and complex. But I am open to all of your ideas!

An extra point if you correctly predict by how many goals the team you picked to come out on top wins by? 🤷‍♀️

I have make it so when a user gets a "frame" correct, the background is green, when they get it wrong it is red. That is a little bit cleaner than adding a 6th cell to the frame.

That looks great. Good implementation!

Still tweaking a revised interface for Gopher Strike, but it is up and running for the coming season. Cleaned up the interface and also added a feature to flip the axis of the data you are looking at. You can flip so the game picks are vertical instead of horizontal. Same with the leaderboard, but that doesn't make a much difference. Just a preference.

Just a reminder. Season starts next week! Get those picks in!

Basically...

Each games is a theoretical 0-3 pts. 0 and 1 equals a "loss" because even 1pt feels like a loss. lol

A win is 2-3 points the team gained.

I would just like to say that I am proud to be in last place, supporting my team by picking a sweep in the first week.  I hope the people in first, who picked them getting swept, feel guilty for being in first!!! Complete lack of confidence and arrogance on their part. Embarrassing.
