Who remembers Harlan covering the Wolves on local TV during the early nineties? That clip above with the old school unis and Harlan bring back great memories (ok, great might be a bit much but I was a young kid).
Harlan was great and although I was never a HUGE Wolves fan I followed enough to recognize that when he left it was a bummer.
For many years Harlen was the only reason to watch.

The KAT news certainly sucks.
However, it sounds like he's expected to be back around the start of the playoffs.

Wolves finish their 6 game road trip 4-2, playing all 6 without KAT and multiple without Gobert, and lost Naz Reid early tonight (he got clubbed in the side of the head, I assume it was concussion symptoms).
10 of their final 14 are at home now.

Blue Owl, no relation to the Red Owl Grocery stores :), to the rescue in Wolves sale.
Blue Owl HomeCourt, a $700 million fund managed by a division of publicly-traded Blue Owl Capital, has acquired a minority stake in the Timberwolves, a source familiar with the deal told the Star Tribune. The percentage of that acquisition was not disclosed.
HomeCourt was formed in 2020 as a partnership with the NBA "to provide institutional capital to the NBA ecosystem" and is used to acquire minority equity stakes from minority shareholders of NBA teams. As such, its ownership stake does not require NBA approval.
The fund has previously invested in the NBA's Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks and Phoenix Suns. In 2022, HomeCourt acquired a 6% equity stake in the Hawks from nine existing minority shareholders.

The Wolves sweep the season series against Golden State 4-0 and are 49-22.
It seems their record is not only great, but considering how many games players have missed? But I have no idea where they rank though for total games missed due to injury.

@frozen4champs This is bad news for the Wolves whatever the reasoning is. Taylor is an absolute joke of an owner and has done nothing but run this organization into the ground.

There is no doubt the Taylor has not been a great owner. That said, Taylor has given Lore and A Rod more than enough time to get the deal done. He has pushed the closing date back a couple of times to give them more time to secure the cash. Maybe he is just sick of them stalling and called their bluff? I'm sure if they called him today with 100% of the financing in place, Glen would sell. I am a little concerned that if these guys are short on cash now, what will the future hold? We are now in the drama part of this including that Taylor says they wanted to move the team to Vegas and Lore is the one who pulled out.. Stay tuned.

1) There's likely far more to it than they "missed deadlines" considering the contract to sell/buy had a clause for a 90 day extension in Section 6.4 Part A "if they’ve submitted the signed financial subscriptions but are still awaiting NBA approvals." (the contract has been tweeted out with this verbiage shown) and Lore/A-Rod submitted the payment commitments on March 21st when the deadline was March 27th. A-Rod and Lore are still minority owners, having paid for roughly 36% of the sale agreement. The next 40% was due March 27th. Lore and A-Rod are apparently discussing this issue with their lawyers and the NBA to determine if they need to sue. What seems far more likely is that Glen Taylor, being the snake that he is (he demanded this long drawn out sale contract) is trying to weasel out of his deal because he agreed to sell at 1.5 billion, and since that agreement he's seen the Suns sell for 4 billion and saw the Hornets sell for 3 billion. Current valuations for the Wolves franchise are roughly double the price he agreed to sell at.
2) I don't think it matters if A-Rod/Lore WANT to move the team to Vegas. The NBA would need to approve a relocation and they'd be far more likely to put an expansion team there than they would be to relocate a current team because an expansion team price would likely be somewhere near 4 BILLION dollars (Silver has already openly discussed expansion as well, see this link: https://www.nbcsports.com/nba/news/adam-silvers-latest-comments-make-nba-expansion-seem-even-more-likely).
Either way, it seems pretty widely reported that almost all of the front-office moves, hires, etc. have been worked on with Lore/A-Rod leading the conversations rather than Taylor. The team appears set up to be contenders in the NBA for a long time now and Glen is pissed that it was A-Rod and Lore making the team better and not him, IMO. Glen's own statements to Jon Krawczynski from the Athletic indicate as much. I believe the quote was "We've got the players now. It appears we're going to be good for a long time and I want to be part of that."
I disagree with your statement that Glen would sell right now if A-Rod and Lore showed up with the rest of the money in cash. He's a snake, he's been a snake for a long time, and he's always going to be a snake.
Yeah sorry I don't buy the "Taylor gave them every opportunity to pay" line of BS either. He is having sellers remorse is trying to find a way to get more money out of this deal. And Taylor floating the idea they "want to move it the team to Vegas" is the proof. He knows Minnesota fans are always worried about that and he won't look nearly as bad if he is stalling in an effort to stop the evil owners that aren't from here from moving the team away!!! Even though the NBA has zero interest in us moving there. Hell even if they did want to move team there instead of cashing a Eleventy Billion Dollar check for the expansion fee...I doubt we would even be in the top 5 teams they would want to move.
Taylor is feeling left out now that the Wolves franchise is on the cusp of taking off. Like others have said, he is a snake. Here is a quote straight from the Athletic article:
“I just think, we’ve built this team. We’ve got the players now. And it appears to me that we should have a very positive run for a number of years,” Taylor said, “and I want to be a part of that.”
It reeks of sellers remorse.

Woj tweeted out that Taylor pulled the sale contract because A-Rod and Lore submitted a budget for next season that involved cutting $15mil off the payroll (which would keep them slightly under the second level of the luxury tax).

I had heard some rumblings that Lore and A-Rod were going to try to get under the luxury tax threshold early in their tenure. Guess this confirms it.
But I thought Taylor is the bad guy....

But I thought Taylor is the bad guy....
He is.
The fact he pulled the sale because the team is finally good doesn't make him a hero all of a sudden.
He was (allegedly, A-Rod said this in an interview with Dane Moore who usually is pretty freaking good with Wolves coverage) against a majority of the decisions that have been made that turned this franchise from a laughing stock into a legit title contender. ARod and Lore were the ones that pushed to bring in Connelly to run the team, Finch to coach the team, gave the green light on the Gobert trade (which I have to admit so far has worked out extremely well despite my initial hesitancy on the move), negotiated with Naz to keep him here, and brought back Conley and NAW on team-friendly deals to give the team the best chance to win this season.
The fact the team is finally good and the valuation of this franchise has more than doubled since the sale agreement is the reason he's pulling the sale. He's just using the alleged salary reduction to paint himself as "Good Guy Glen" now after 30 years of being one of the worst owners in American professional sports.
Edit: There's also a pretty fair chance that Glen is the "unnamed source" in this story, so some of this can be taken with a grain of salt.
Don't get me wrong, Taylor is no saint in this, but I've said all along the I don't trust A Rod and he doesn't have the cash. He may have the money to buy the franchise, but he doesn't have the cash to maintain it. Yet, people continue to give him a free pass. There are plenty of articles out there that back me up. Taylor needs to sell, but A Rod is not the right guy.

Lore is the bigger money backer of the two without question. A-Rod seems more like he's in it for the experience he has in the sports world. Lore's net worth is estimated at about 3.3 billion. A-Rod's net worth is roughly 350 million.

No doubt that Lore has deeper pockets. But from what I've read, A Rod is having the trouble finding backers for his part of the deal. I would feel much more comfortable if Lore would find a different partner.

Nothing more MN than the last day of the NBA season. Wolves vying for best in the west all season will finish 3rd after the one scenario plays out for that to happen. Denver and Oklahoma destroy their opponents and the Wolves put up an egg against Phoenix.
We really continue to not be able to have nice things.
And now we have to play Phoenix, the one team that has given us fits all season. Ugh
And now we have to play Phoenix, the one team that has given us fits all season. Ugh
You mean like we’re 1-9 against them in our last 10 including 0-3 this season? And we haven’t finished within 10 pts of them this season in a final score?
Yup that’s the team. Worst possible scenario for us. They have to be thrilled. Best possible draw for them. It’s just in their head or something like Hastings is for the Gophers. Or Bielema in football.
Wolves: YEAH! WE COULD GET THE #1 SEED TODAY!
