If that was the case the time to make the move was probably weeks ago.  I don't think this is anything but a sign Cousins will be cut in the offseason.  Although they do hold the tiebreaker with Tampa so they could still theoretically win the division.

Complete and total mismanagement from the day they signed him and it is going to hurt for a long time.  Lot of dead cap money...

I think a good chunk of it was guaranteed, but not all of it.

He did. Doesn't mean ATL can't cut him, though. Also, as @the-rube stated, not all of it was guaranteed.

According to an article on NFL.com, if ATL cuts him before March 16, they would owe him $27.5M and would incur a $65M dead cap hit. The cap hit could possibly be spread over two years.

I think the first 2 years were guaranteed for 50 million per, after that not guaranteed at like 30 million per (might be different amounts each year but 60 mil total left.

You can always cut a player regardless how how much is guaranteed but then of course you have to pay the piper with the dead cap.

Atlanta is garbage and they look like a team that is poorly coached. First time OC Zac Robinson is way out over his skis.

Leber who still watches a lot of film says while the Falcons have talent they rarely run good routes, timing is always off and they don't look organized.

It will be interesting to see how Penix does these last 3 weeks but I don't think there is going to be much of a difference.

The team still doesn’t use Kyle Pitts so yeah I’d agree that they’re pretty poorly coached still.

How long has he been in the league? At what point is Pitts just not what he was advertised as being? Kirk loved using tight ends here and even our more blocking oriented tight ends in check down situations.

The guy is a beast when the ball comes his way lol. Atlanta just followed up a bad coach with another bad coach and it’s not shocking that their offense is underperforming again.

To be fair I couldn’t name you his QB before Kirk (Ridder?). I think he could benefit from a change of scenery, it’s kinda amazing how much better some QBs and players in general look when they have competent offensive coaches vs bad ones. Like Kirk before and after the trade, Sam Darnold, Geno Smith, etc. He wasn’t worth a fourth overall though (I’m not sure any tight end would be to be fair).

Scheme and putting players in the best positions to use their talents is so important. Simple concept but a lot of teams fail to implement it.

I would say Atlanta is good example for anyone who says coaching isn’t important in football. I mean, Cousins looked pretty good in KOCs offense. Can you imagine a QB not throwing a TD for 4 games in KOCs offense?

Read an article earlier this week about how the Vikings fleeced the Falcons because Kirk's success was more about the coaches he played for than his own personal talents.

He was kind of average in Washington, he was good here, and he was older and below average in Atlanta.

I laughed so hard when I saw the Atlanta contract. I was also very happy the Vikings didn't sign him for that price. What an anchor around the neck. Falcons are lucky they can just cut him and only pay a portion.

The Jets do have a good defense.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player sitting by himself on the bench as often as Rodgers does.

Theyre like 28th in defense DVOA, last year they were elite but this year they haven’t been good.

They did the same for the Clemson-Ohio State game.

If any game is below "freezing" (meaning actual 32 degrees) the networks freak out to try and make it a story. It's hilarious.

Ive watched a few games but mostly watch redzone. One game that comes to mind was the game they played the Steelers, the D just wasn’t really doing anything other than let the Steelers cook them. At half the game was still winnable but Rodgers hit Wilson on the hands and it popped up and went for a near pick six that got returned to the one and the D couldn’t get a stop (admittedly not their fault for being put in that situation). After that the offense did nothing per usual and they lost. But between games like that and close higher scoring games vs the Mac Jones lead Jaguars, the NE game where they couldn’t get a stop, getting ran over by the cardinals etc. it’s not like that D has really looked good other than a few games.

That whole team is such a mess though and assuming it was Rodgers idea to hire Nathaniel Hackett (not to mention his own predictable play calling and audibles) then yeah he deserves a ton of responsibility for the offense being bad. They literally don’t have a coherent offensive game plan (like any of the non bears NFC north teams or Baltimore/KC etc), it’s just a bunch of above average players playing recess football. I appreciate what Rodgers did in GB and don’t hate him (or really follow his off field shenanigans) but you kinda wonder even if he had a elite OC whether he’d follow the script or start hero balling. The last year in GB seemed like more of the latter though in fairness to him he also didn’t really have any weapons on offense other than Aaron Jones.

Caleb Williams makes an amazing play to convert a 4th and 7 and then fumbles the snap in the shotgun on the next play. This may be the story of his career.

Phil Simms and Eli Manning. Although, technically Tom Brady isn't in the HoF either - but only because he isn't eligible until 2028.
