Whalen I got...Johnson was at best a reach. They believed the AAU coaches that he could recruit top end guys and coach.

I mean he has recruited high end guys. Evans, Christie, Payne, and Betts were all top 100-150 guys depending on which ranking system you want to use.

Evans didn't stay committed ge doesn't count.  And he has zero ability to retain talent even local guys he has relationships with.

If he had a manageable buyout he would likely be sweating bullets and deservedly so.

Louisville offering more NIL money than Minnesota could isn't a reflection on the coach, IMO.

No offense but you also think the Twins have a deep squad and have talented pitchers 😉

Pitino squads always had excuses too.

I said this is the deepest and most talented rotation they've had in my lifetime. Because it is. I also said it's a very low bar. Because it is.

Seen some very very upset WVU fans on Twitter this morning. That's usually a good sign.

Not sure I really understand the motivation for this one unless he's really holding a grudge that he wasn't a full time starter when he got to campus. I'd certainly hope the Gophers could match any NIL offer Depaul made (if it was about NIL). He was likely going to be a starter next season and had improved quite a bit throughout the season here.

Weird.

Johnson better hit the portal hard.  He should be fired, but won't be.

It almost certainly isn't NIL related and we fans play up the NIL aspect way too much.

Great...he was the one guy who I thought they could get and who wanted the job who could really make changes here.  Zero chance now.  Coyle could have had him before...

Glad Alabama lost...they disgust me.

When Johnson gets fired next season we are going to settle for someone and have to cross our fingers they can get it done.

How does 4 players get identified at a murder scene and 1 provided the gun. And it all gets swept under the rug, for now. I told my one friend if Alabama win the title, it’ll probably be vacated in 2 years when Brandon Miller gets charged.

Damnit I was supposed to be in Vegas this weekend...and I would have gotten more than a few of these games right.   Maybe they should thank me for not jinxing them 😉

The Dutcher thing still hurts though...good lord even his AD said we were likely his dream spot for a bunch of reasons and he supposedly has a lower buyout only for us.  While everyone want Musselman (who has no interest in coming here outside using us for raises) Dutcher was there to be had.

Guarente mid-major to play for the Nat'l Championship for the men. Florida Atlantic will play the winner of Creighton/San Diego State.  Still bummed for the 2020 Tourney being cancelled. That was the year for the mid-majors. There was probably 6 mid-majors who were good and had a chance.

Dutcher to the Final Four...God this sucks.  Coyle missed badly.

Good for him.  Hell of a coach and recruiter.

Incompetent officials in the SDSU/Creighton game. Won’t call the ticky tac fouls for 39:58 minutes of the game. And one stripe decided to blow his whistle with less than 2 seconds left. And the major smug look on the stripe as the Creighton coach chews him out.

San Diego State vs. Florida Atlantic in the one semifinal game at the Final 4. UConn vs. the winner of Texas/Miami in the other.

Keep your stick on the ice...

#9 Florida Atlantic vs. #5 San Diego St.

#5 Miami vs. #4 UConn

The sophomore guard averaged 11.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and five assists this season. Shot 43.3% from the field and 44% from three.

Reading a bit about him he seems like a good fit for the team. A good outside shooter (44% from 3pt range is huge) that can pull up in transition for a 3 but can find open teammates and set them up for easy buckets as well.

Need to add at least 1 more guard and probably another SF type.

Basketball aside I'd wouldn't leave Pepperdine for The U.....I mean I love The U and all but dang the Pepperdine campus and location is primetime.

Congrats to Coach Johnson, hope he's able to parley this into something positive next year and beyond.

Was going to feel bad for either team and their fan base who lost. Both San Deigo State and Florida Atlantic most likely well never see a another Final Four.

Tough loss for FAU. They deserved to win but SDSU just kept getting offensive rebounds down the stretch. They even got one on a missed FT which is just inexcusable.

There should never be an offensive rebound for a free throw since they moved players up a spot in the blocks on the key.

6'11 335 center from Washington State. Played both football and basketball but not really a BB contributor. He is solely a big body to practice against and play only if Payne gets in foul trouble.

Quite the path he's taken to get here lol

Committed to Oregon State and averaged 4 minutes/game as a freshman. Transferred to Idaho for one year (sat out half the year due to transfer rules, pre-portal). Then walked on to Washington State to play football. Played 25 games over 3 years (mostly special teams) before joining the basketball team for their final 14 games where he played sparingly.

Dude looks huge but other than being depth behind Payne I doubt he makes much impact.

If there was ever an example of Portal disfunction.
