I disagree w/ Jup - I think gold is a 'dark' color. That is to say, it's not white. Either way, gold and gray lead to confusion by both teams - but that was already guaranteed.

Well... The original POI jerseys are maroon on one side and reversible to gold on the other. So I am going to say that GOLD has been used for a light color going back to the beginning.

Similarly, the Gophers wear their Gold alternates at home, against teams wearing their Away/Dark jerseys.
Gold is definitely considered a "light" color generally, going all the way back to medieval heraldry.

Gold is "light" when everyone on the team is wearing it, won't argue with you there. But my 4-year-old can successfully identify which side the yellow dot goes in the "white/dark" scenario below. Just saying...
