Pinoniemi with 2 goals last night for a bad SF team.
He’s one of the best players in the USHL this year
I think it all comes down to scholarship money and timeline.
I agree. My thought was Braccini and Miller were higher scholarship and Warner and Strobel could be more “walk on” type with way lower scholarship $s. I would think J. Mittelstadt is lower $s too and if you want Luke you have to keep older bro in the pipe.
I am curious how Pinoniemi has progressed since hs. Honestly wasn’t a huge fan, very passive and played on the fridge a lot. I’m guessing he has progressed and his numbers in USHL are decent.
I’d be curious if Cruz and Chaz use up a scholarship since their parents are filthy rich.
I believe Lou Nanne paid for his grandkids’ education so they wouldn’t use a scholarship, which allowed other player to receive more.
U18’s 2-0 against the big ten so far.
Snuggerud adds a goal against Notre Dame tonight.
Once upon a time, we used to discuss a commitment from a player like Jimmy Clark for days…

Is he playing with Edina this year? Wondering if I can watch him play.

Believe he is doing a before/after with Sioux City and playing for Edina this winter.

We need Hammy back.
I don't have a full synopsis or anything but you have to be pretty good if you are the best player on an Edina team, albeit a fairly average team for their standards, as a freshmen. I haven't been able to watch him in person yet but from online streams he has looked like a good all-around player with a very strong shot.
Nice little highlight here:
I'd probably add Brody Lamb to that list if we are talking high-end underclassmen.
My completely non-insider guess is that we get 3 of Snuggerud, Clark, Stramel & Lamb but miss out on the two SSM boys.
Hell, I guess I am an insider! But seriously, the three from the first group were pretty much gimmes and I'm very happy I ended up being wrong about the 2nd part as Chesley could be huge for us.

Guessing the other SSM was Howard?
Chesley is the best of them. If they were ranked right now I'd say:
5*: Chesley
4.5-4.75*: Snuggerud
4.25-4.5*: Clark and Lamb
Sawchyn and Moore are probably 4.5-4.75*s left out there right now.
Snuggerud is the leading scorer for the U18’s so far. Pleasant surprise. Look for Lucius to pick it up too he’s maybe the most skilled player on the team.
From USHL games last night--
John Mittelstadt with a goal
Brody Lamb with an assist

Muskegon line chart confirms Braccini is no longer
committed.

Tony Scott and advisor Ben Weiand talk ~ 35 min about Joe Miller's decommit and maybe being asked to play another year in the USHL. More than just not enough room.
Jack Braccini is mentioned as well -- his ability to shoot the puck is highlighted, but someone who might be looking for a CCHA spot.
Scholarship money and role are always issues with college hockey, especially with so many players with the option for an extra year.
Garrett Pinoniemi, John Mittelstadt and Nate Warner also brought up. Scott hypothesizes that Warner might have to find a new spot because of so many injuries.

On paper we have to cram in Pinoniemi, Lucius, Snuggerud, Mittelstadt, Strobel and Warner to fill in like 3-4 spots so yeah I think Warner will unfortunately have to move on. Too bad about the injuries he was really good in high school.
I would not be surprised if neither Mittelstadt end up here. Luke went undrafted after looking like a 1st or 2nd round pick at one point.

I've always been curious about the scholarship situation. The Gophers tend to have the most draft picks of all college teams, yet teams like UMI and UND often get some higher draft picks. Is this because UMI and UND are giving more full scholarships to high end recruits while MN is rumored to prefer splitting scholarships amongst more players?
I thought I saw on one of the Gopher games this weekend they showed a stat where the Gophers had 4 or 5 more drafted players despite UMI having five 1st rounders. What else explains the drop off on Michigan?

Gophers have 15 and Michigan has 13.
They have 7 first rounders.
Winning!
I've heard that the team with lots of 1st round picks usually are a shoe in to win the Frozen Four.

Luke’s had a good start to the season I’d still like to see him come in we need D next year and he’s good. John isn’t awful either but would obviously be bottom 6
I've seen Luke Mittelstadt several times now, and I don't see it. Maybe that would make him a good 4 year prospect though.
He has a calming presence…Ryan Suter like, up to you to decide if that’s a good thing or not
I still think Luke is really good, would still expect him to play here.
The Trail Smoke Eaters of the BCHL have signed Charlie Strobel. He’ll get way more looks in the BCHL probably a good move.

Not necessarily. I know it is not common for players to go from USHL to BCHL, but the Reilly Brothers ( Connor & Ryan ) left SF and went up to Penticton. Granted, Lucia did not want them to play for the SF organization at the time and Mikey was playing in Penticton.

Idk what makes you say that we’ve grabbed players from the BC a lot

A lot? Other than Penticton pipeline (which was not that big when you factor in three were brothers) what was the last one, Kris Chucko?

IIRC, Jack Ramsey and Rossini played at Penticton as well.

That's why I said Penticton pipeline
Didn't Laffer go there after he left Michigan, too? I believe he went somewhere in the BCHL.
Tact is the ability to step on a man's toes without messing up the shine on his shoes - Harry S Truman
Yup, hence Penticton pipeline
Fred Harbinger would more than likely be the reason and since Freddy also had a stint in SC.....

Will be genuinely shocked if Kurth doesn’t get selected and I believe Luke has a good chance of going late.

Nice to have a highly rated D-man. Chesley should be highest drafted D-Man since?? Leddy?

Didn't Makar get passed over his 1st year?
No, he was 4th overall...
No, he was 4th overall...
Makar was first year eligible, just on older side of draft.
I think Henrik Borgstrom was highest 2nd year guy recently. Perunovich was in his final year of eligibility too right??
Scott Perunovich is who I was thinking of.
I knew it was a slick undersized D that had played D-1.
Cal Thomas to the U
Nice!
Now get some 6'3"+ guys that can actually play hockey like SCSU has to fill out the D.

Further confirmation. Don't know how to make it bigger off a screenshot.

Does anyone know anything about Cal's game and willing to share what type of player he is?
Heard Cruz Lucius broke his arm a couple weeks back.
