I wish Owen B the best, but it shouldn't be at Minnesota. As a top-tier program, we need to get top-tier goaltenders.
The bottom line is that better options will be available, and Bob can't roll the dice with two unproven goalies next year. If Owen had not been here previously, there would have been no way we would be recruiting him based on this year's performance. Honest question: where does he land if he doesn't end up here? Maybe an Atlantic Hockey school, maybe even D3?
Portal is probably the best bet. Flipping Hampton Slukynsky or Carsen Musser (If Mberko returns) Dylan Silverstein is back in USHL and playing well, before today's game.
Silverstein committed to Quinnipiac last week.
I like both our guys odds at winning Mr. Hockey. Moore has the most goals on the best team in state and Nevers is probably the best overall player in the state.
Mooney back up with the U18’s again

Great night for Gopher commits in the USHL. Mooney keeps putting up points. Townsend is having a sneaky good rookie season in the USHL and seems to go untalked about for the most part on here.
Hendrickson gets his first with Dubuque.

Here is your weekly Barto update--
Played 2 games this weekend. Recored his 1st win and then had another loss. Gave up 4 goals in his win and 5 in his loss. He has a 4.88 GAA and 824 SV% in his 5 starts in the NAHL and is 1-4.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Slowly working his way back to .900. I’m fine with him coming in next year given he’ll be a backup but if they decide to move on from him that would be just fine

The thing I’ve noticed about August Falloon this season is that he almost always leads his team in shots on net. Certainly a positive trend.
Gavin Katz from SSM and Mahtomedi youth hockey has committed to the Gophers. His Grandpa, Ron Peltier played for the Gophers in the 60s.

Looks like a solid add. Maybe he can help the recruiting pitch to Parker Trottier.
From what I’ve heard Trottier doesn’t need much of a pitch
Katz is a really nice add from Bob. Slippery skilled player known for his solid two way play as well. Think Aaron Huglen with more offensive upside. Should be another 4 year guy too which is great.

I’ve known Gavin since he was 2. As best as I can be to be truly objective about him as a hockey player, here is my assessment: Terrific hands, super smart, very confident player and person! He is an average skater and on the smallish side - should be a 4 year player, a 200 foot contributor, and very good on the power play.

It’s the post you quoted me. I embedded a link in “older brother Skip”, and another in “younger brother Doug”. The links worked fine, but the text isn’t highlighted like it used to be to alert readers that there is a link.

Thanks, definitely not a big deal.
Ziemer is going to be a fan favorite.

Is it pronounced “cots” or “cats”?

I've been told cats but I don't personally know the family
Owen B. played both games this weekend (for the 2nd weekend in a row). His team lost 3-0 and 4-1 (2 empty net goals). Way to give him goal support. 🤣
Save percentage creeping closer to .900

Gruba went a little quiet but burst back onto the scene with a goal and an assist tonight. Dude can shoot the puck.

Bringing this back because Falloon put ELEVEN shots on net tonight with a goal as well. Seems to be hitting his stride again. Was leading the USHL in goals before his injury.

Mooney been playing full time with the U18’s and been one of their top producers. He’s gonna be so so good in college.

Not playing on a line with Eiserman or Hagens either. Plante is solid but his production has been really impressive.

He literally won NAHL goalie of the year with the same team two years ago, so either he’s getting worse, or something weird is going on. Can’t help but think we stunted his development by bringing him in that one year, but it needed to be done.
If we decide to move on from him that’s fine. I’m not losing sleep over it either way. Airey is the guy.
Carsen Musser still follows the Gophers....Just saying.
Cooley Jr ( Mooney ) checks in at #22.
https://twitter.com/scottcwheeler/status/1769696741559800099
The most individually gifted player in the 2007 age group at the program this year, Mooney, the cousin of Arizona Coyotes rookie Logan Cooley, has been talked about for years for his skill level. He’s got a lightning-quick release, even quicker hands in traffic/one-on-one, quick feet, a quick processing of the game, and a unique ability to make plays. That combination of skating ability (he’s got natural acceleration, tremendous edges, and can put defenders on their heels from a standstill) and skill is complemented by a willing work ethic. Despite his tiny size, there are some who believe he might be in the Cole Caufield/Alex DeBrincat echelon as a player who is talented enough to still warrant first- or second-round consideration. If the draft were held today, he’d come with a lot of risk. But if he grows a couple of inches, which he’s expected to, there could really be a high-end offensive talent there. He and McKinney are the only two U17 forwards who’ve been called up to the U18 team this year and he has provided instant offense, which is really positive.
