Over it for the most part but it stung just a little bit seeing Eiserman on the same USNTDP post but over with the BU boys.

Has anyone heard estimates of what BU is paying him?
Closer to home, he’s from Massachusetts. The kid has been away from home for the last 4-5 years. Would’ve been cool to see him in maroon and gold, but what do ya do.

His instagram and twitter both reflect he is still committed, but I believe he is out of junior options so perhaps he just hasn't updated it yet.
I imagine a UST, BSU, Augustana of the world would take him.
He could still come in as a walk-on.

it is not a money thing.
What was the reason then?
He did the same thing Brock Faber did. For those unaware Faber originally committed to Notre Dame but after living away from home at the Ntdp, realized how much he missed Minnesota. He then called Motzko and told him he wanted to be a Gopher.
Eiserman did the same. Sucks but I personally won’t fault him for the decision. Still might bust out a few boo birds when the u18’s come to play in December for giggles.
Eiserman might not even make it to a college campus anyway
Hendrickson is on the USA Jr select team.

Gruba and Pahlsson both had big weekends per usual

Yakesh still has the M by his name in the lineup card

Also he was named captain of his BCHL team earlier this week

Goal and an assist for Hendrickson today, who is now up near a PPG (6-10-16 in 18GP). Reid with an assist on the goal.

For folks with more knowledge than me, wanted to get your perspective on who comes in next year.
I guess my questions are the following:
Does Yakesh come in with Whipple going to USHL if only Koster and Fish leave?
Does Zeimer go USHL if Snuggerud comes back?
G
1 departure- Close
1 arrival- Barto
D
2 departures - Koster, Fish
1 arrival- Gruba
1 potential arrival- Yakesh?, Whipple?
F
3 departures- Nelson, Brodzinski, Michel
1 potential departure- Snuggerud
3 arrivals- Falloon, Pahlsson, Hendrickson
1 potential arrival- Zeimer
While not unheard of, it is rare for NTDP players to go to the USHL after their stint. I understand Hendrickson just did it, though he arrived there as a sophomore. Would still be in high school had he simply stayed at Minnetonka and not accelerated. Ziemer and Whipple look like locks, especially given where they could be drafted.
Nevers also a possible departure and I expect Snuggerud to sign.
Just forecasting:
Forwards In: Pahlsson/Hendrickson/Ziemer/Falloon
Defenseman In: Whipple/Gruba/Yakesh (leaving him in until we know his status)
Yakesh has no more eligibility so if he is a Gopher it is next year.
I anticipate another big time commitment yet to come for next year. I believe Cooley committed in February in 2022 after decommitting from ND. I think we will get a flip in our favor this winter. Some of these teams seem to be to loaded with high end recruits for something not to shake loose. Also other scenarios in which a kids stock really goes up and sees more offers better opportunity.
I'm in the camp that Eiserman never makes it to college.
Does Koster have a covid yr option? If so, I hope Bob lets him know that he is welcome back.

I believe he, Nevers and Fish would have the option.
I wish Bob knew how to recruit better. ?

No room for any more guys for next year tho. Pahlsson was that big time pickup.
Michel is a complete mystery to me but he does technically have one more year of eligibility after this one.
I think they lose Brodzinski, Nelson, Snuggerud and bring in Ziemer, Hendrickson, Pahlsson, Falloon. Go from 14 to 15 forwards.
On D Koster out Gruba and Whipple in. Idk on Fish and Yakesh.

Gotta think he signs regardless
Looks like Townsend is staying in the USHL based on this

From what I read that was the more likely outcome.

Article says Yakesh not coming in next year.
Whipple, Gruba
Zeimer, Hendrickson, Faloon, Pahlsson
Also no mention of Barto but he is a unique situation and I believe still coming.
I don’t think that article is the best indication. Line charts are almost always the best source and as of last week he still had the M next to his name. Now I’m not saying in the end he doesn’t end up here, but I still think as of today he’s committed.
He did have a signing ceremony when he was in high school, but I think that was similar to what Javon Moore did. If he did sign, his NLI could be still good (I think). Otherwise, I believe walk-ons don’t sign NLIs so maybe that could be the situation too.
Nevers looks like he could be a very promising power forward.
He is a man child in hs hockey this year.
Yeah he is just flat out bigger and stronger. Has a good hockey IQ also.
Javon Moore had a hat trick and 6 points in Minnetonka's win over Rosemount.
Decent start to the season for Javon Moore. 6 Gs and 4 As in two games. Tonka is a wagon this year but still great to see.

Yeah, take his numbers this year with a grain of salt. Tonkas gonna steamroll everyone this year.
Yes of course. Still nice to see him leading the team with so many D1 players on it.
I think we grab a forward out of the portal this year. No reason us as a top program shouldn't be grabbing top players. Look at NCAA football, top programs always reaching for qb and talent. Gophers have to cut ties with 2/3 of pinoniemi, strobel, and j. mittelstadt for it to happen as they should if Bob is serious about winning.
I agree! Pino brings nothing to the table. Not sure why he gets as much ice time as he does.
You still need guys to buy into a fourth line role and you’re not gonna get top guys from the portal to fulfill that role. Or ask guys like Kurth to do it. I agree on Pino but I think the other two are fine for that role.
A line of Clark, Mittelstadt, and Strobel is serviceable. They know their roles. Pino changes the scope of that whole line and takes down the others with him.
Yeah the others at least have some speed, Pino kinda just slows everything down and makes big mistakes constantly. Also I know Motzko makes judgements based on practice but the problem is that you aren’t playing against the gophers every week, you’re playing other teams that build their rosters entirely different.
I cannot stand the way the Gopher coaches use the 4th line in the "modern" college hockey era.
In the Sunday Michigan St. game, Sparty had just iced the puck with tired players on the ice. What does Bob do? He sends out the 4th line and State scores a goal.
Television timeout? 4th line is out there. After a goal? 4th line... (that might be a bit of exaggeration!).
The point is, a hockey coach really has very little they can do in the game to gain an advantage. Sure, you can switch up the forecheck a bit, being more aggressive or less so, and there are some adjustments you can make if the other team is forechecking you one way that your break out doesn't work. Great.
But the biggest thing he can control is the lines and pairings. The only time a 4th line should come out is when the opponents 4th line is on the ice.
This is a point I have made before because the Gopher coaches, Lucia and Motzko continue to do this 4th line rotation even in the NCAA playoff games. These games have interminable television timeouts so your players on the top lines can get plenty of rests ingame. The opponents like Yale played their top 2 lines almost exclusively, rotating the 3rd line. But the Gophers played 4 lines, which often created plenty of opportunities for these overmatched opponents to have the better skaters on the ice.
Back in the day, when Minnesota's 4th line was qualtiy players, and other teams were overmatched at just about every level, you could get away with that. But not today. Even the 16th seed team like Yale has lots of talent on their roster and if you let that talent play against the bottom of your roster you give away your advantage.
