Would someone not from here think that?
Maybe Knies, Cooley, Close, Johnson, Bartowskievicz (whatever spelling), Staudacher, Pichora, Eiserman...?
?
Yes, if you're likely leaving after one or 2 seasons because you have NHL written all over you, go play somewhere that you have the best hockey playing experience. Harvard is better than the other Ivy Leage teams, but would a phenom player pick Yale or Princeton for the hockey? I would say the same conditions apply.
If you want to play on a big time stage its the U not Harvard..
Eiserman - You know what to do ?
While this is a true statement, the size of the stage doesn't necessarily mean anything. If you were to guess that MN and MI were the teams with the most NHL draft picks this year, you would be wrong. That goes to Harvard. Sure, UM and MI have more first rounders, but the point still stands.
I will absolutely understand if some player chooses a school like Harvard or Stanford over a school like the U of M. If I was a parent and my kid was getting recruited by an Ivy League school to play hockey or something how could you not be thrilled about that, but in terms of hockey and getting to the next level.. I am not sure there is a better choice than one of the blue bloods in college hockey of which Harvard is not. That said they do typically get decent recruits to play there, and their location in hockey obsessed Mass helps. The top end of the ECAC is generally solid, but its never very deep like the NCHC or more recently the BIG, which for development purposes is a huge seller to come here or places like Denver.
Fair points, plus there are always other factors. Case in point - old neighbor of mine had a kid that played for Holy Angels back in the day when they were a power. Was looked by many schools and Harvard offered him whatever it is they offered in lieux of a scholarship. Kid really wanted to go there, had the grades and everything. In the end, Dad wanted to be able to see him play, so he committed to SCSU when Dahl was the coach. Well, end of year comes and Dahl is fired and replaced by tBob and gets his offer rescinded. He ended up playing MIAC hockey and got a good education, blah blah blah. I wonder if Dad ever regretted forcing that decision?

Yeah that’s a tricky situation because it really comes down to where you are most comfortable and works for you and your family. Obviously scholastically St. Cloud or a MIAC school and Harvard are very different, but as a MIAC educated person those institutions are fantastic and worth every penny. Great networking in MN and in most large cities in the US. That said it can’t hold a candle to anything network wise Harvard can offer. CEOs in every sector and highly influential people all over the globe. That’s the biggest separator between a school like that and everywhere else.

That would be a nice line at the U in the future.

Looks like Moore assisted Eiserman on a goal tonight. Fingers crossed we see these two together in 2024-2025.
Eiserman has 2 goals so far and Moore has one as well.
Jimmy Clark with a hat trick with 25 minutes left.
Apparently not...just two for Clark. Still en fuego.
Moore and Eiserman absolutely lethal together. Eisy 3G, Olly 1G 3A
Whipple 1G
Clark 2G 1A
Rinzel 1A on OT winning goal
Eiserman has I think 44 games and 48 goals between the 17s and 18s. 77 total points.
Is the plan still not to have him play for the Gophers next season? I want Eiserman for multiple years so the sooner he comes the better the chance. Michigan did this multiple times recently bring in a top guy before his draft year to get two seasons out of him one before he was drafted and one after he was drafted. Shouldn't we do the same thing with Eiserman?
He's only 16 and doesn't turn 17 until the very end of August
I realize these things don't always translate into future team success, but BC with 6 recruits on that team. The full tally:
- BC - 6
- UM - 3
- ND - 3
- DU - 2
- Hahvahd - 2
- BU - 2
- UW - 2
- MSU - 1
- UMi, UND, MSUM, SCSU, UMD - 0
Remind me what's the deal with Musser?
He hasn't committed anywhere. Portland owns his WHL rights. Rumors are he's off to Portland. Nothing confirmed though.

Not dressed equals not impressed. ?
Eiserman with yet another goal tonight. Moore adds one too.
None of the MN Mr. hockey finalists are committed to the Gophers this year:
Finn Brink Chase Cheslock Cooper Conway Tommy Cronin Jake Fisher Tyler Hennen Ryan Koering Sam Ranallo Jayson Shaugabay Gavyn Thoreson
Clark and Rinzel would be the two favorites if they weren’t in the USHL
If anyone’s curious, the entire NTDP vs. Lindenwood game can be seen here……
Not sure how seriously Lindenwood took that game, but considering how closely they've played several Div I teams this season that's a pretty impressive score.

Jackson Nevers and Javon Moore both going to the X
Jimmy Clark stays red hot. Adds 3 assists on Green Bay’s only 3 goals vs the NTDP. Moore picks up a point in that one too.
Max Rud with another power play ? running Sioux Falls top unit.

Rinzel 1G 1A tonight. He’s gonna be fun to watch next year.

Motzko is just killing it with his recruiting.

Javon Moore = next Patrick White….
he may be big and have apparent upside but mark my words, he won’t do much for the gophs. Too lazy and likes to coast around. Sorry, I just don’t see it.
I hope for the gophers sake, I eat those words but I highly doubt I will.

Based upon...?
@slap-shot floats around and soft. He should be/could be more. We’ll see if someone lights a fire with him. So far I’m seeing flashbacks of just a lot of hype but no real impact just like the Patrick White era state tournament days is why I made that statement.
now obviously he has some major tools with his size so I’m hoping he gets some nasty and grit to his game. If he does, he could jump big time. But if he just coasts around then I don’t see it happening

LOL. I think I trust Bob in the players he recruits. People were concerned about Jimmy Clark and he has had a good year in the USHL.

As skilled as Thoreson is he's got a little punk in him and will put (SCSU?) in trouble a bit too often for my liking.

He'll be a Thor'n in the side of the Gophers ala some of the other rat punk 5'9ers of Clown history

He just turned 17. Your analysis applies to most talented kids that age.

Ok I agree he’s been a little disappointing to watch but slow down cowboy. He’s always been seen as a long term project. Just cause he doesn’t have it his junior year of high school doesn’t mean he can’t develop a bit of an edge later. Plus Patrick White was a first rounder with much higher expectations. Not at all the same.
He has 2 primary assists on the 4 goals that his team scored... this is nonsense criticism
I do think he needs to show some more desire to get in the dirty areas and use his size and just show some more juice in general. Obviously a gifted player with hands and vision. Likely playing in Sioux Falls next year. Give him time…
What year is Eiserman set to come in?

2024.
Some are suggesting that he speed up his school work and have him come in next year. He is only 16, and turns 17 in August.

I know it isn’t simple to do with the USA hockey buyout, accelerating school, his age, etc… but I’d try to get Eiserman here as soon as possible.
