Crushing penalty in the offensive zone.
I didn't see a hook, but there were a lot of bodies on the way, what did it actually look like?
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
I’m so sick of the north dakota mating call.
and for the life of me, I cannot figure out which one is sue? ?♀️
C’mon Gophers!! Show them who’s house this is - send those flickertails home with their tails between their legs!
LET’S GO GOPHERS!!!
I think this game has been relatively well officiated. Sue are diving all over the place and the reds aren’t biting.

Mason Nevers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope the Rouser sounds as good on radio and tv as it does in Mariucci!
Matthew Knies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Couldn’t have scripted it any better
Gonna need smuggle some white rice from Yangs Woodbury in tomorrow night. Started having a quick snack, boom tied, put the kids to bed, come back down, eat another bite, boom winner.
WOW just WOW. LOUDEST I’ve heard Mariucci ever. We ABSOLUTELY deserved to win this game and I’m so glad we effing did. GO GOPHERS!!!

Note to self: if OT happens, I'm gonna go out and have a cancer dessert/smokey treat/lung cookie (no, not the wacky tobacky), b/c apparently that's what it takes to secure a win. 😉 Totally missed the GWG.

Absolute Bedlam at Mari☝️That's LITERALLY the Gophers most exciting regular season win in over a DECADE!
Did not realize that men’s moved to the women’s model and that is now 67% of a win this season.
Just a flat out crazy atmosphere. Whoever said 60/40 earlier in the week, try 85/15 WITH a student section. Place freakin blew up with the Nevers and Knies goals.
That was perhaps the most fun game I’ve ever been to. Absolutely deserved to win. Kick the shit out of them tomorrow now boys

Up until the game tying goal I was about ready to declare moral victory due to how badly the gophers outplayed them on aggregate. Luckily they tied it instead and Knies just decided he was going to end it, no stopping him there ?.
Might’ve gotten a bit lucky with the refs because I thought we maybe could’ve been called for one or two more penalties, but I’ll trust the ref’s judgement today ?
Hopefully some better puck luck tomorrow and a similar effort, gophers dominated and deserved better than the partial win (I forget the percentage of a win you get for OT in the PWR and Eyeore isn’t here to tell us).

I wasn't a fan of the 55/45 model for overtime games used last season since then winning or losing in overtime is only a 10% difference.
With the new 67/33 it now matches what conferences use for conference points 2 points for an OT win and 1 point for an OT loss.
In my opinion OT should be meaningful and now both RPI and Pairwise reflects that.
BTW the people on SusieSports are rather down about how things are going. ? #ThatsAShame
Played like the #1 team in the nation. Plain and simple.

I thought we had some stretches where we were very sloppy and mostly got away with it. We can be better.

15% UND? I had to ask because it looked and sounded like a lot more on TV.
I was hearing 75-25, and it sounded loud whenever UND did anything.

Maybe 20 if you stretch it. Nodak would score and the place would get kinda loud. Minnesota would score and the place would blow up. Huge difference in my opinion.

Absolutely agree we can totally play better. We still had the puck virtually the entire game and registered 38 shots while simultaneously passing up open shots to make ill advised cute passing plays. North Dakota bad lucky to even be in it at all though I thought.
The Green plague was pretty concentrated opposite the student section. I'd guess 20-25% overall.
Amazing game. Definitely need to watch the end and celebration.

I wish I recorded the game I need a clip of Close playing the puck and then getting sent flying ?
YES!! Unbelievable hockey game. We deserved to win that game, and we found a way!! KNIES!!
Huglen is very shifty. The goals will come…
Wow! that was "Close"
Goddamn that was fun!
I mean, FUN!

That my friends, is GOPHER HOCKEY!!
Mariucci will be rockin’ tomorrow!
Tonight's attendance was reported as the 7th highest in the 30 year history of Mariucci. I would suspect tomorrow will be even higher.
- Bob with a spectacular line change putting LaComb on the ice for (I think Chesley) - 20 seconds later #2 buries it
- Close stays calm. He's probably won't steal a lot of games but he will always give you a chance to win
- I never would have guessed Mason Nevers as the 6th guy with the goalie is pulled. This is why I'm in the stands
- It was only a matter of time before Knies scored, hell of a game
- I have a sneaking suspicion MN will drop the hammer tomorrow. Methinks tomorrow AM the coaches will tell them to fire the puck and be less cute and wonderful things will happen.

In the first period radio interview Pat Micheletti gave Jackson Lacombe a little bit of a hard time saying "You need to tell the team to shot more." Who scored the first goal? Hmmm ?

The 60/40 opinion was not including the student section (which was awesome). I would agree with steve-mn that it was 75/25 including the student section. Either way, it was a great win.
Wow! that was "Close"
Which is to our advantage since Close is on our side. ?
Always fun watching them slither out of the arena with pouty faces.

I sure was fun watching two teams that want to play hockey instead of stalling and waiting for the opponent to make a mistake (Minnesota State).
Yeah and notice how that style of play didn’t fare nearly as well when played earlier in the year with refs not swallowing their whistles. The second game was a struggle but not a zero goal struggle.

I wouldn’t say UND was lucky to be in it at all, they have a good team. There was a couple times where they saw an opportunity, turned up their forecheck and created chances. I thought their PP looked decent and ours didn’t sometimes. The refs were hesitant to call penalties especially late which benefitted both teams.
D overall played amazing, they will be the engine that carries this team.
Knies goal should be up there with all the ones we were talking about earlier. That was amazing…he just would not be denied.
- I have a sneaking suspicion MN will drop the hammer tomorrow.
Given how the Gophers controlled play for all but about five total minutes in the game, I think you may be right.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
The no daks without a shot in the last 13 minutes of regulation.
Minnesota has what, 8 freshmen? Well they just outplayed the mighty sue who dresses 6 super seniors. They have ONE underclassmen, according to Clymer.
It took everything the sue had to keep Minnesota off the board and credit them for doing it. Can they do it two nights in a row? Cooley, Snuggerud, Lamb & company are just warming up. I mean it's still October and these guys are beating quality competition. They will keep getting better.
Knies with the game winner but Pitlick and LaCombe I felt were the gophers two best players tonight.
I thought North Dakota looked good, maybe a tad more passive than they are traditionally. DeRidder looked very solid. Defense did a great job keeping things outside. Very pleased to see the Gophers keep plugging away and not giving in.
Lacombe and Faber were outstanding tonight. Pitlick and Huglen were noticeably quick. Lamb is talented. Lots to like if you’re a gopher fan.
It certainly was a game where the outcome could have been very different. I would not have been surprised if UND's first goal ended up being the only goal in the game or if we won the game late after the EAG.
I'm not completely sold on the 67%/33% split for 3x3 OT, but in a way it was appropriate tonight since UND won the 1st and we basically won the rest of the game. In the 1st, we kept looking for the extra pass and UND evidently studied tape of our first 4 games very carefully as they were prepared to block or even pick off those passes. It seemed like we shifted to be a little more selfish as the game went on and peppered DeRidder a lot more, which is basically how we beat him when he was at MSU.
I'm not surprised we won quickly in overtime. I didn't expect that it would take all of 21 seconds and just one shot, but since UND's strategy all game long was centered around traffic, I expected 3x3 to give us a huge advantage. If they had a strategy specifically for overtime, they did not have time to put into practice as they looked lost after the faceoff. It also looks like a second assist was added for Cooley for that goal, which is fitting since winning the faceoff set up that goal.
I expect Saturday will be a higher scoring game. Now that they know we know how to skate around their pass blocks, I'm thinking that they might change it up and try to outgun us instead.
Why in the world did BSN Extra show SoCal prep football after our game? Was there a Minnesota/Upper Midwest connection in it?
