Lol delusional indeed. Basically, from what I’m reading, this fan wants UND to be able to operate however they see fit, with way more autonomy than our other affiliate Notre Dame, and yet still have a share of the B1G pie. Not an affiliate’s share mind you, but the same share as a B1G charter member like Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, etc. I mean seriously, who the f*ck do these people think they are? I know the education at UND is basically that of a glorified community college but what a ridiculous take. Does living up on a frozen tundra just warp their minds? Is the oil from western ND getting into the water supply? Part of me doesn’t want them anywhere near the B1G and another part of me would really like to see them join, sell their soul to the conference, and then watch as their fan base has a melt down for the ages when they realize they’re not the center of the universe that they think they are.
The "They can't afford us" part is the most laughable of the whole thing. (Well, aside from the fact that UND would never be under consideration anyway)
Individual school shares of BTN revenue are more than double UND's entire Athletic Department budget.
My favorite take I’ve seen on twitter is that UND’s defense is superior because they’re older and they have no freshmen. The only reason their d core has no freshmen is because we out-recruited them for Thomas and Chesley?. UND heavily recruited those two and I’m pretty sure both were down to forks or the U. Not to mention Cooley as well.
Jup quoted tweeted an article from the Grand Forks Herald saying the UND fans are going to pregame both games this weekend at Sally’s. What an absolutely terrible idea. I know Hawks fans travel well and will probably try and flood the place. But I don’t know if they understand that with the nice weather this weekend and the fact that Sally’s is one of the most popular bars on campus that they will have to compete with a bunch of 19 and 20 year olds for space and drinks. I bet my next paycheck that there will be a fight there this weekend between a bunch a UND fans in their late thirties trying to chirp Chad and Brad from frat row about the Holy Cross game or something else that these kids are too young to remember. I hope the students pack that bar per usual and this completely backfires on the UND fans.
The student section is gonna play heavy into the atmosphere this weekend. Even if all they spew is a let’s go gophers chant they’ll be loud all weekend.
I don’t know how they revived the student section like that but it’s been the best thing to happen to Gopher hockey in a while. Every big game to semi big game is overflowing and loud at that end of the ice.
Also North Dakota hasn’t beaten us with an Ice Box student section since like 2009 or something.

The students balled out all last year, and it got better as the year went on. Made it fun even when the rest of the rink was 1/2 to 2/3's full.
They were LOUD against Michigan/Wisconsin. ? ?

I hope there’s been some learnin’ since last home game as they attempted a let’s go gophers once during the entire game (and at a bad time as they had to stop for the band or an announcement or something). Lots of students is awesome - but they need to actually open their mouths!
Remember the words to the hey song? Well, they play it on the pregame video announcing the players, so I better hear a very loud “na-naa-na-na, SUE SUCK!”
Paging flag-guy….
and wtf with Sally’s letting undie alumni association host a pregame party both nights! That’s disgusting. Can we lock them all in there somehow? ?
better yet - someone send a bat-signal to the students to pack the place at noon so nobody else can get in!

Maybe it’s a ploy to have the UND fans order food with less than 2 hours before game time. Since then they have no chance to make it to the rink for puck drop. Sallys service is sooo slow.

I'm surprised the gathering isn't at Blarney's. I believe the owner is a Whioux alum, at least that was the case a couple of years ago unless he sold it.
I was recently informed by a GPLer that I'm related to Airey
anyone know if the stores on campus or in the arena are selling kids sized hockey jerseys? wanna get one for my daughter before the game so i can get her in on the jersey obsession
I always liked Schlossman as a guest. Seems very educated and level headed. Very out of place for the fan base he covers?
Being the sane one in that gang is not a crowning achievement. ? ?
Agreed, Brad seems like a good dude as are many und fans I've met. However, as a group there is a certain something....

How do we think the lineups will look this weekend? Pretty similar to what we saw against Mankato? The three freshmen D have proven themselves more than capable so is there much of a chance that we see Staudacher?
Once the Mankato game got under way and everyone got into their seats I’d say the non student section seats were a good 2/3 full. With some, but not a ton of Kato fans. Going off of that and that I think a lot of gopher fans were/are willing to pull the trigger on tickets for this weekend more than any other weekend I think we’ll have plenty of Gopher fans to hopefully drown out the Hawks fans. Will there be a lot of people in green and black? Yes. We know they travel well and a lot of them live in the area. But I don’t think for one second that we will have a repeat of the thanksgiving series from three years ago. I guess we really have no way of knowing for sure until Friday night but the program and the fan base are in a very different place than they were November of 2019 and I think this weekend will reflect that.
The 60/40 split is just a guesstimate on my part. 10,000 capacity minus 2,000 Gopher Student Section leaves 8,000. Its not that hard to guess 3,000 North Dakota fans out of the 8,000 seats left. Thats actually a 62/38 split. I hope its 100% Gophers fans, but history says their fan base will show up with at least 1500-2,000.

8,500 Gopher butts in seats is all that matters - students or not. And I mean it's not like there isn't plenty of Pioux fans living in the TC, because as much as they love their school most of them can't wait to leave that godforsaken state.

Yes, most people just come for a vivid impression, even if they're not fans.
