Really would like to see the NCAA focus on 'Too Men on the Ice'. Imo, I see A LOT of borderline too many men. Players going off the ice and their replacement is over the boards and 10-15 from the bench.

When I saw it live, I thought possible penalty shot. Saw the replay and the right call was made. You don't need to be shooting for a penalty shot. You need to be a stride or two ahead of your opponent and get tripped or hooked.

The Michigan goalie did a really good job of keeping them in the game. He is going to see Gophers shooting at him in his nightmares.
Me personally... I would almost always take the pp over a penalty shot. Unless I have a Mikko Kiouv/TJ Oshie on me team and on the ice at the time. I would think without doing some research, a pp % of scoring, is greater than a penalty shot. Though I sure there are some other demographics on coach might be thinking of, are you trailing and time on the clock.

Great win and an exciting game! I will say I didn’t think Johnson or Nelson had a great game. It was more than just the goals they had a direct impact in giving up. Johnson in particular had a few rough shifts. The good thing is they are upperclassmen and two of our most steady and reliable players. So I don’t think they’ll have much trouble putting it behind them and coming out better tomorrow.
I think Fish and Schmidt played well and made opportunities for being their first games of the season.

There’s at least 1 freshmen on the list and Jack Eichel and Paul Kariya won it as a freshman. There have been 5 sophomores that won it including Stauber.
Portillo was solid tonight - and lucky. MI is fast like Minnesota, but they get to running around a little bit.

Better team won tonight although we definitely aren’t clicking on all cylinders right now something is just a tad off. Portillo was playing like the Portillo of last year.
Cooley was trying to do way too much all game. We can be much better and we still put up 50 shots!!
