Personally I’d like to see Pitlick, Cooley, and Snuggerud back together and then try a line of Knies, Huglen and Nevers. Maybe Kurth. But I thought Nevers had a hell of a weekend and deserves to play on a line with 89 and 7.
Yeah I think Nevers earned himself a look in the top 6 after a hell of a series. Whether that’s 89-7-18 or 77-7-18 doesn’t matter to me
Could Bob put 22 on a line with Nelson and J. Mittlestadt/Strobel? Nelson has shown that he can shield the puck and I think he’s decent on the back check. Is his passing game good enough to feed Brodzinski? I’d say so. Then you have either J. Mittlestadt or Strobel who are both tenacious and relentless on loose pucks and the back check. Maybe that would give Brodzinski more freedom to get open to shoot the puck. Just don’t let him see the ice for overtime ever again. He was completely out muscled on the winning goal by North Dakota.
That’s what I’ve been saying they should do all season 27-24-22 preferably
I like this line suggestion and agree, it should create space for 22.
Do you keep Snuggerud, Cooley, and Knies together for this series? I think I actually kind of preferred the Pitlick, Cooley, and Snuggerud line. To be fair, with how chaotic Saturday night was we didn’t really get the chance to see more than a game and a half of 81, 92, and 89 together.
I didn't really understand moving away from the Pitlick, Cooley, Snuggerud line. I think tBob is always experimenting and fine tuning.
Maybe we'll see the debut of the Snuglen Brodz line against Ohio State.
How about a Snuglen Knies line? After all they would be quite dangerous!!! ?
I like 5 days in between series much more than 2 weeks

I mean people on here will probably think that's crazy talk, but I'm with you on rotating the goalies for the first half of the year. The only series I would probably deviate from that would be the two games at Yost in the middle of November. I may have underestimated how much talent the Wolverines have on their roster and that atmosphere has the potential to be very challenging.
Second half of the year they get some exhibitions and the home/home with SCSU and road games vs ND are more opportunities for Close to start back to back games if he's playing well.
I know the fan base really wanted that second North Dakota game, but it's a long season and Bob always plays the long game to start the year.

I am on board with this unless Barto really struggles in multiple games. I don’t suspect this will happen though. Everything I’ve heard is that is he a really solid goaltender. He may have some bumps, but we have the d corps to help with that as long as the team plays disciplined hockey in front of him.
Going to be a tough out this weekend against a very solid OSU. I hope Jup is right and we see the Gophers take 5 points. This next month will be anything but easy. But hey, if you came to Minnesota to play an easy schedule then you came to the wrong place. Hopefully the past two very intense series really prepared these young gophers for the grind of the next five months. The defense of the B1G starts this weekend! Let’s go back to back!!
I seem to recall plenty of fans questioning if Close was the real deal not too long ago. To suggest his spot in the lineup is untouchable is premature until Barto proves he's not a ready for prime time player.

Gophers will get a SWEEP this weekend. The biggest challenge will be playing in a lifeless arena (compared to last weekend). Heck…I don’t know if they’ll lose another game…until they play St Cloud at the Concrete Center…and I’m 90% serious about that ?
I’m calling 6 points for the Gophers this weekend. Everyone’s giving them high praise so far but in their only test of the season so far against UConn they managed 1 goal in the entire series. The other games were against the little sisters of the poor, and yes I’m lumping Wisconsin in to that group.
That being said Ohio State is really solid and Dobes has the potential to steal a game on his own.
Hoping for 6, happy with 4. This may be the best Gopher team we've had in awhile, but as we saw last weekend, still very much inexperienced.
The challenges with OSU are very different, but at least they won't goon it up anywhere near as much as UND did, so we probably won't take too many dumb penalties.
Even though UND was/is ranked higher than OSU, facing DeRidder might have been a great warmup to facing Dobby.

Did you ask Bob why Brodzinski was on the ice for 3 on 3?
In all seriousness, good job asking actual hockey questions. I appreciate it.
Sweep this weekend. Time for Cooley's breakout weekend.
I’d love to see us turn our dominant puck possession game into a 6-1 score this weekend. I expect to see a close game one of the nights and blow out the Buckeyes in the other.

First weekend I predicted a big series for Cooley, second weekend I predicted Snuggerud and last weekend I predicted Knies. Not saying, I’m just saying…?
This weekend I’m going Lamb
Realistically, what are the odds Pitlick doesn’t play Friday?
I would hope that we see him Friday. I’ve said it already, but I’ll say it again, I feel like the guy has learned his lesson. Also, that’s the only time I’ve ever seen him do something stupid. I hope we can all just move on and Bob let’s him tear it up this weekend. I’m not asking him to go be a hero. But go shut everyone up, kid. He’s more than good enough to do so.
Realistically, what are the odds Pitlick doesn’t play Friday?
I think he will play. tBob benched him for the majority of the 3rd period and said he would deal with it on Monday. What Pitlick did was selfish and stupid, and certainly will be a learning moment. I was equally upset with the stupid penalty Cooley took. That was unacceptable as well.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
I think he’ll play too, but can’t rule it out

According to Vegoe on the pod, it sounds like a couple guys are dealing with illness. Unless he’s one, I would say that makes it pretty certain he’ll play. But who knows.
Even if every guy was healthy I'd put his chances at sitting at 0%.
I don't doubt that there were/will be consequences, but would tBob sit him an entire game just for one moment of exuberance? If Pitlick kept doing it, that would be another thing, but I'd be surprised if he's not in the lineup tonight unless tBob really needed to see what he's got as far as depth is concerned.

Gameday!!! Title defense starts now
I find myself in Columbus for the 2nd year in a row while the Gophers are in town. A sweep on the road would be a great way to start the conference schedule. Ski U Mah!
As of now I should be able to view this game from home!!!
So Saturday’s game on BTN plus so I will not be able to see it?

This has worked great for me too! I get all B1G men’s and women’s hockey games. I’ve already gotten a ton out of the package.
Are there many more games we’ll need it for (Gopher men’s specifically) - otherwise we just buy a month at a time when needed, unless a day pass is offered.
The only other one this season would be the Sat @PSU as of now.
But for people like me that do not have Bally Sports North... All those games are on BTN+, so it is a must for me. No way I am paying a premium for that $h!ty Bally Sports App to watch just Gopher hockey.

I did BTN+, but just the single school pass and month to month. It was $9.95 a month. Since I don't have Bally, it got me both games last weekend and all the bally ones going forward. I plan to cancel after the PSU series before I get billed for a 2nd month because they will be done with Bally games except 1 WI game through New years. Then I'll pick it up again after the 1st of the year for a month. If I time it right, I can get almost all the Bally games and only end up paying $20.

I did the single sport access since I like the idea of watching other BigTen games from time to time. You also get the women's WCHA games as well. I already have enjoyed a few games for the Gopher women.

This OSU team will be tough, Lohrei and Halliday are both solid NHL prospects and Jake Wise was one of the best players in his birth year before flaming out with injuries for a bit, and now seems to have figured it out again at OSU. Dobes is also probably the best goalie in the conference.

A little shuffling
Pitlick / Nelson / Brodzinski
I guess that answers maroon and gold's question about the odds of Pitlick not playing on Friday...

You mean Nevers….
They need to beat the fan who keeps beating on the glass. Frank/Wally already called him out. Really interfering with the broadcast, and the fan doesn't stop. It's darn near continuous.

Too much zone time with not enough clean looks on goal. Gophers look really off so far. Not bad enough to feel like they're getting worked, but they need a complete reset at intermission no matter how this period ends.
Just missed a tap-in ugh.
End of 1, Gophs trail 0-1.

Feels like the Gophers just keep losing pucks off the end of the stick all period long so far. Also their spacing has been really poor. Bunching up and a failure to create space have been an issue. Solve for that and they will get right back in the game.

Just turn that mic off.
If you had a dollar for every blind backhand pass to the slot to the Buckeyes to start a break out...you would probably have $10... ?
