Best of luck to Grant. Curious where he ends up. Clears up forward picture a bit.

You're right...not many did. Just avoids logjam had he/Motzko looked for a reunion.

We still have 6 freshmen forwards (7? Mittelstadt?) filling in 4 spots (3 seniors, Meyers). Still just doesn’t add up.

Best of luck to all 3. Jonny seems to be a really good teammate but I'm sure he wants to play, which I don't blame him. Maybe he can blossom like Burke did at Bowling Green.

Brinkman is an interesting one. Mayberhe knows more about who additionally is going to be back and sees who's coming in? Makes you wonder what a guy like Fish will do

I’m really going to miss seeing him in maroon and gold. I agree, it’s understandable he wants to play but still, I wish he would have stayed to be a veteran player who offered some depth. I know he wasn’t the most talented player on the team but I appreciated the guy’s hustle and work ethic. Hopefully he decides to stay but I feel like if a player is good enough to go then they’re as good as gone once in the transfer portal and he is definitely good enough to play somewhere else. Can’t blame him but this was my concern with the modern transfer portal. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

Faber only having been here 2 years gave me hope that he’d return, even though I kinda figured he’d be most likely to leave with the Olympic clout and whatnot. Glad to see it.

Hopefully Fish stays. Sooner or later guys are going to have to realize that regardless of the transfer portal teams need depth players. Can’t fault the players for wanting to play however.

Hopefully Faber returning is an incentive to LaCombe and Johnson to come back for their senior years.

You wonder if the players talk among themselves about these things? “If you stay I will stay” ??

If Brinkman were to transfer to Mankato he would actually lower their average age even though he'll be a 5th year senior.

I wouldn’t be surprised. That’s the way it sounded with the Michigan guys last summer.

16 or 17 forwards including Schmidt and potentially Mittelstadt as 17th would probably be fine.

Better late than never? I believe 2 will be 5th years and Sorenson will get more playing time elsewhere…I’d take him at tUMD.

A good program will be very pleased with Sorenson as a bottom 6 guy. If he goes to a lower tier program, he's going to surprise a lot of people and put up good point totals because he works so hard.

Or (possibly) to somewhere like the top tier program 150 miles to the North :D …he’d fit in GREAT… probably as a bottom 6…but ya gotta have guys who embrace that role. He’s transferring (understandably) to somewhere where he’ll get more time on ice, can’t blame him (for that).

The only thing that would make GPL better is if there were some way for me to read about the UMD angle on every Gopher hockey development throughout the year. That would be fabulous.

It does get really old. But line anything else, if you ignore it, it should go away. I think I have 1 person on my block list. Now I have 2.

During intermissions at the frozen four, they featured bits they filmed with the players, showing some from each of the teams that were currently playing. One was the guys singing along with a song. I can’t remember the song, but Walker was the best singing wise, and Sorensen was the most animated and clearly hamming it up. Seems like a character. Not sure if those exist anywhere in the social media universe but they were entertaining.

Bummed to see Sorensen leave. Kinda surprised about Brinkman too.

I personally LOVE Jonny’s game but yeah looking at the depth at forward next year the ice time just wasn’t gonna happen. If teams do their scouting and don’t just look at scorecards someone is going to be very happy they picked up Sorenson.

He also took over Instagram for the regionals and showed the same kind of personality. All the players really had fun with Jonny as the interviewer.

Brinkman was a senior? What’s there to be surprised about. We’ve shown we don’t really offer the whole 5 year option, with Laffer as an exception (if the Richter says he wants to come back you let him come back).

Sorenson definitely seemed like the class clown type. Just a teammate everyone liked. Rossini seemed similar.
