Unless I misread his stats, first back-to-back shutouts for Close since his very first two shutouts on Feb 25-26, 2022 when we made Wisco regret being born and their official Twitter account fell silent during game 2.

Watching the post game Bob nailed it that playing NoDak is two games in one, the first 10 minutes and the final 50 minutes. That was exactly what happened, the first ten for the Gophs was rough but the final 50 they were the better team.
Close...no words, just locked in. All four lines were noticeable in a good way I thought and the D did a fantastic job. I'll definitely take a 3-0 game with a EN for good measure in Grand Forks.
Tonight is going to be tight again at the beginning I would assume. Stick to the script from last night, clean up a few things after watching video and play the game.
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!
Close was a stone wall, Moore with the snipe, Rinzel was noticeable for his size & control of play, Chesley playing was key, Lamb snuck behind D to get it started, outstanding game by the Gophers…opportunity for a road sweep (tonight).
I don't want to be a guy to say I told ya so but...
I told ya so.
Way too many people were screaming about the sky falling. This team is good and deep. This was a good showing of that. Two of your key Seniors out for a series in Grand Forks and you pitch a shut out.
Sure it wasn't perfect, and Close had to make some tough saves, but that's just a symptom of playing another good hockey team.
Who exactly was "screaming" about the sky falling?
Why wouldn't fans suggest a split? History is on their side. As recently as last year a less talented UND team came into Mariucci against a better Minnesota team and left with a split.
UND will cone out tonight like they really need this win, so the Gophers better be ready. Seriously, who would be surprised if the Hawks found a way to pull one out? This is hockey. It happens all the time.
I will echo the thoughts on the game production. Well done by Middco and thought the announcers were solid.
If Moore had been on the "big" line at the NTDP and not leading his own, guessing his numbers would have been astronomical. They were of course good in their own right.

So you didn't read the game thread from last week particularly during the Friday game?
Like Woog always said, the team that loses Friday almost always plays harder on Saturday.I don't want to be a guy to say I told ya so but...

Good game. Not sure if UND is quite the top 5 team, but I'll take it. Gophs had a good game. Not sure I'm ready to say they are clearly the most talented team in the country though. Can't wait for Koster to be back. D looked fine without him, but obviously not last years level. I like Fish's physicality but seems like he gets walked around a couple times a game. Last night got a holding penalty on one of them. Glad to see Moore has moves to go with his speed. Don't expect him to be another Cooley, but he'll be fun. And Rinzel doesn't seem to have missed a beat stepping up to D1. Rare for D's to look so polished so early.
As for streaming, it was tough having to choose NoDak as a school when subscribing (wasn't sure I needed to but did just to be sure). Luckily I had already started drinking. The annoying thing was sound was ahead of pic, so you would hear the whistle for frozen puck before the shot was taken. On each goal, the announcers beat the shot. Takes away some of the excitement. (I assume this wasn't issue on Fox channels?) Hopefully I will get tonight's game with the Day pass and see a sweep!
That is the way a #1 team in the country plays. On the road in a tough environment in a tough rivalry game. It was not a completely flawless game, but when there was a mistake the other players, especially Justen Close, covered up perfectly for their teammates.
I thought all of the units looked great, especially the PK.
I was critical of Jimmy Snuggerud in earlier post but I thought in last night's game he stepped up his puck control, back checking, and defensive coverage and moved well, not just being "The Shot".
At this point, and it is early, I think an argument could be made that the Lamb-Snuggerud-Moore line is better than the top line last year. It might not be a convincing argument right now, but that line clicks.
I think Ryan Chesley really stepped up, Mittelstadt and the rest of the players were solid (especially Cal Thomas who normally doesnt getg a lot of press), and Rinzel is going to be a solid player. I think this group only gets better when Koester comes back from injury.
I also think the second line will be reformed when Nevers comes back and they will start clicking.

It's a great line but that was one of the best lines in Gopher hockey history and one of the best in college hockey this millennium.
I’ll echo what other people have said. Chesley has stepped in right where Faber has left off. Mittelstadt is a machine and Thomas seems to get better every game. Fish is starting to settle in. Gotta remember he’s never been an every day guy before. He’ll be a very solid 3rd pair guy when they get healthy.
Well that was a fun day/night. Bar-hopped before the game, no one said anything to me and my buddy with Gooher gear on. Got to the game and only 3 people said a word before the 2nd period and then it was pretty quiet in the building. Certainly not like it was back in my 20s which in my mid-40s now, I don’t mind.
Well, scored a ticket to tomorrow nights game. Buddy happened upon 3 extra ones so the two of us (Gopher fans) are going with a UND buddy. Leaving at 1pm from Fargo tomorrow.
It’s been pretty quiet about UND hockey around this parts even with them winning a few games. I don’t think anyone is confident but they know they aren’t as terrible as last season.
I have a pretty good record when watching the Gophers in person in Grand Forks and I am looking to improve upon my record.
Very impressed with Rinzel and Thomas last night and in general. I felt comfortable with Chesley and Mittelstadt before the season started. Once we get Koster back that’s 5 pretty solid defensemen. It’s going to be another fun season to be a Gopher fan.
A good thought, but I think we should wait 600-800 years before we say that out loud...At this point, and it is early, I think an argument could be made that the Lamb-Snuggerud-Moore line is better than the top line last year. It might not be a convincing argument right now, but that line clicks.

Fish struggled, but him putting Blake on his rear was another highlight of the night.

The fourth line looked good again last night. I think Strobel (stro-bell' as the announcer would say) is coming on. He's been physical and brings a heavy forecheck. Hoping they get a goal tonight.
Great game by the entire team. A few sloppy areas. But I'm extremely happy about the result. Extra nod to Closer.
I thought the UND announcers did a fantastic job.

An amazing lack of digits in the pics you posted!

Looks like that player was pregaming ?
And no 1 finger salute in the crowd or bench, wow, what happened to the Sue fans... getting soft?

Like I said, an argument can be made. I think the chemistry of these three so far is better than the Cooley line last year, especially to start the season. A line that has produced 19 points in 3 games, no matter what the competitive level, has really produced.
No lineups changes. Obviously
Lets come out play another solid road game to earn the sweep!
Chat will be going, as usual.

End of 1, tied at 0.

I would expect Jackson Blake to pick up a few minutes in penalties tonight. The ref just had to review Blake making him look like a clown with a brutal dive
Perron 1-0.

The Gophers need to find some goals from players not on the top line.

Blake's dives won't hold up in the NHL.
Keep your stick on the ice...
These announcers last night and tonight keep getting Huglen and Pitlick mixed up. I can see it... 7 and 77.

It would be nice if the Gophers could have some offensive zone time in the 3rd.
Knew that push from North Dakota was coming eventually. Still in a really good spot to pull off the sweep. Regardless of how the third goes you gotta be happy with how they’ve looked this weekend.
The team is playing like the 2nd half of that one game I never wanna think about again.
I hope the boys pick it up here I. The third period and play like we know they can play. Make the smart pass and keep the wheels moving.
Livanavage 2-0.

Let’s go! Nelson 1-2.
Robbie Earl Jr draws another penalty.

Is it me or is there some homer officiating?
Fish is the new Roberg.

Never saw a replay, but it looked like a dive…. I could be wrong

Boys are finally playing with some urgency and purpose.
Game over, UND wins 2-1.

Didn't really show up.
Watching that celebration you'd think they won the national championship... ?
