But let's be honest here, once the journalists backtracked on the Gophers being the favorites to land Wood, we all know where someone from Alberta is going to end up anyways 😕
I was actually never in doubt that we'd land him 😉 I've since gone down a bit of a Matthew Wood rabbit hole and seeing his scoring ability has already got me excited for next season and this one isn't even officially over yet!

Just found this interesting article. He didn't get to visit schools because of the pandemic. Then UCONN made a home visit, while everyone else was doing remote. And that seems to be what won him over.

Total guess here, but I also am not sure how many blue blood schools would bring in a 17 year old. That could have factored into it

Well another season in the books and just like every year I can’t wait til October. This team should have offensive and defensive depth as well as high end playmakers on both sides of the puck. The only question mark for me is goaltending. I believe Nathan Airey will be a great college goalie but we have no way of knowing til we see it.
Yeah. Long offseason but of course all good reasons for hope and excitement next year. I will miss the steady leadership of the upperclassmen while many bashed them repeatedly, they did their job and carried us into the playoffs and did all they could possibly be expected to do in the final rounds. The rest of the team was less than stellar. The stars did not shine for the gophers in the last month. Without them the big boys of the senior line did it all and hats off to them. So sad that their season ended with their best efforts and a team behind them that just didn't materialize. Oh well, in a one and done the team that shows up wins and that is how it goes. Next season looks great and I cannot wait to see them get after it!

For those who missed it. The Gophers will play Denver at Ball Arena Thanksgiving weekend in 2025 for 1 game. Its either the Ice Breaker or Hall of Fame game. I forget which. At least that is what the tweet said.

Agree. Think he is an ideal fit for fourth line who can add some scoring punch. He can certainly move up throughout his career, but I don't see him sitting in the stands nightly.

Good offseason for Motzko and the Gophers. I like the pickup, looks like Liam has played 84 games. If Huglen and Pitlick indeed return, I am tempted to call to call it a great offseason. Can't wait for October.
