If you are talking about the end on the right side... That is not happening. These are the preliminary plans from last year. But it at least gives you and idea on the dimensions and whatnot.

Cooley not on camp roster, but will most certainly be on the team.

I would think Lane Hutson would be in the same situation as Cooley. No way he isn't playing.

Hutson is on there. Defenseman.
A Roman Vomitorium wasn't where people went to spew... it's where people spewed forth entering a stadium.Do I see that right that they’re taking seating out in some spots?

Vomitory?
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

Add in Cooley and subtract the CHL kids and Hagens (uncommitted) and of the 40 college players/recruits right now-
B1G- 21
HE- 13
NCHC- 4
CCHA- 2
By the time WJC rolls around, Hagens may very well be a Gopher commit (fingers crossed ?). That would mean Hagens, Cooley, Snuggerud, Eiserman, Rinzel, Moore, Chesley and Steve Miller as assistant coach.
Ask Herb how filling a USA team with Gophers turns out?

My kids were trained by Katie McDonough too... not the same results. LOL She's an incredible skating coach and I would have my boys skate with her again. They definitely improved after working with her, but my kids were just never built for speed.
I can't wait to watch Oliver Moore in a Gophers uniform. It's very fun to watch these speedy guys. It's a great weapon.
I’m hoping the Wild figure out a way to move up and draft Moore! His speed through the neutral zone would do wonders for that franchise!
Formerly known as davey j.
I'd take that as a secondary option, first would be to put a package together to trade for Cooley ?

Should be a good fit for what Bob calls the Fancy Pants line.https://twitter.com/mitchlbrown/status/1672597463042248704?s=46&t=AvtsG2WfNuGRyXzbYJqB7g

I dont do line charts but him and Cooley together on the ice will be friggin scary for other teams. Add in Snuggy and that line would a friggin machine. Hell put him on the second line and all of a sudden you have 2 of those lines ?
Must be rough to be Bob Motzko. Probably should have retired the game has obviously passed him by ?
The question on Moore appears to be - and this is not my opinion; rather an aggregate of scouting reports and the like - offensive upside. Some question if the IQ matches the speed/motor. For the Gophers? Have a hard time seeing it mattering. Would be surprised if he is not a factor from day one and a true impact player. Getting excited...

I know it’s only a 2 minute video posted above, but I see plenty of on-ice vision with some of those passes.

You’re right if you don’t count World Junior Championships, Big Ten titles, Big 10 tournament titles, NCHC titles, NCHC frozen face off titles, MacNaughton cups and WCHA final five titles the dude has won practically nothing
He has some wheels, will be fun watching him fly around in Maroon and Gold this fall!
I'll let Bob handle line combos, but man that would be fun to watch Moore, Cooley and Snuggy together, I imagine that line would be a handful for most teams.
It will be interesting to see who will do the dirty work in the corners that Knies did for that line last year. Part of me can't wait to see a Cooley-Snuggy-Moore line, but the other part wonders if Bob tries another puck retrieving winger on that line. I would like to see Huglen there, but would hate to lose his value at center. It is nice to have the benefit of a lot of talent to move a few pieces around.

Yeah I think that’d probably be the better move just to have insane center depth. Transitioning a center to wing (Huglen makes a lot of sense) shouldn’t be too tall a task either. It will be interesting to see who will do the dirty work in the corners that Knies did for that line last year. A Pitlick-Moore-Huglen line would be ridiculous too. I’m super interested to see how Bob starts the year.
I don’t think he can go wrong with line combinations. I’m not convinced on the Moore-Cooley-Snuggy line just yet, but I also don’t want to move Huglen from center. I think he is grossly underrated in the dots and in the defensive zone.
There’s a lot of buzz around Moore, as there should be, but what should we expect out of the new defensemen? Obviously we were incredibly spoiled last year with the D corps. Faber, LaCombe, and Johnson coming back to play last season was a huge plus and will definitely be missed. But with the guys we have coming back and then it sounds like decent defensemen coming in and of course the coaching of Miller and Martin I’m looking forward to this year as well. So what can we expect out of Rinzel, Rud, and Begley as well, correct?
Rinzel is essentially a direct replacement for LaCombe. That’s his style of play and the role he’ll most certainly have in college (offensive d-man, PP quarterback).
Rud is a Justin Holl type from what I’ve seen of him. Steady eddy with the puck, tall and has a reach. Actually comparable to Cal Thomas now that I think about it. Interestingly enough Rud ran Sioux Falls top PP unit last year and put up 20+ points on the power play.
Begley is a depth add no doubt. Hate to slap a label like this on a kid before he’s even stepped on the ice but I doubt we see much of him til his upperclassman years. We’ll definitely see him versus Robert Morris this year. Excited for that!

This is pretty accurate, and you're right in saying that I don't think it will be an issue for the Gophers. But his offensive upside in the NHL is probably being a little overrated in some places.
These are the four freshmen this year? Any anyone else? Any other forwards besides Moore?

Goaltender Nathan Airey as well. Moore likely the only forward though.
They kept a few forwards from last year's team to come back as super seniors (extra Covid year of Eligibiity) so they don't have an urgent need for forward this year. These are the four freshmen this year? Any anyone else? Any other forwards besides Moore?
2024-2025, they need forwards and it appears they should have a great class coming in.

do you see rinzel as the PP1 and then mittlestadt as the pp2 guy or could this be a situation where whoever impresses coaching staff gets the nod?

My guess I would see Koster on the #1 PP, with Mittelstadt on the #2 if Bob goes with 4 F's and 1 D. I would think Rinzel is 3rd on the list.

Mittelstadt doesn’t QB a power play, he plays the flank on his strong side (as BU is well aware of) typically with Koster. He absolutely dominated from that spot in juniors and showed signs of carrying that over into college (again, see BU game).
My prediction is Rinzel gets full reigns of the PP2 unit.
Couple of differing thoughts: Re: Huglen - you don't take your second best FO guy and turn him in to wing. Makes no sense. Even if it means he moves to the third line. Too important a role to give that up.
Second, many have short memories, but LaCombe was THE WORST defenseman on the team his Freshman year. Not just bad, but completely awful. Defense seems to take more time to grow than the front lines for many guys, likely due to more exposure, but it is something to keep in mind. Maybe Rinzel is more of a Faber kind of guy, but we won't know until this fall.
Huglen was third in faceoffs behind Cooley and Nelson.
Rinzel will definitely have his lumps defensively, much like LaCombe, but it helps he has a full year of USHL under his belt whereas LaCombe came in straight from Shattuck.
Huglen was third in faceoffs behind Cooley and Nelson.
That doesn't really negate his point.

Doesn’t it? 3rd out of 4 on the team in faceoffs isn’t “too important of a role” to move him to wing. I can’t say this for certain without checking Moore’s stats with the NTDP but I’m willing to bet Moore is at least as good, if not better, at faceoffs as Huglen. For the record I’m pro keeping Huglen at center I just think the “he’s 3rd out of 4 on the team in faceoffs so he’s too valuable to move to wing” argument isn’t a great one.
@maroon_and_gold raw percentage is not a great estimate as much of it depends on your zone you’re taking the draw in (ie Cooley takes more offensive zone draws which means he gets to be last into the circle versus Huglen who’s taking a higher percentage defensive zone draws and is part of what makes Nelson’s face-off stats so impressive.) That said, I do agree just his face offs is not reason enough but he also is solid in defensive zone coverage/down low and I wouldn’t want to lose that moving him to wing
I agree his defensive ability is something he has going for him. The definition of a two way player.
