Out of left field: Bob will resign
Why is this type of trolling allowed to go on here? Especially now. Is this really called for?
Jup is still in Florida so he's not handing out any banhammers right now. It will be interesting to see what he decides to do when he gets back because there is a troll problem like @cowgirl said there would be but he didn't seem too concerned then.
This person is especially insidious. Spreading rumors about Motzko and flat out alluding to Motzko as the source. On top of all the “leadership issues” rumors he/she spread last season. It’s disgraceful and petty.
Incredibly proud of the players that chose to stay and play for a championship this year. They brought a lot of pride back into the program, and I feel great about its current status.
By far the most fun year I've experienced as a fan/alum. Looking forward to next year and the fight for number 6.
Just the fact that the word “slobberknocker” was used in a sentence is worth the price of admission?
We were heartbroken to wake up to the news this morning. That said, I’m with Cowgirl and many of you, this year has been a glorious ride. The teamwork, the skill on the ice, the fans, the excitement. I’ve enjoyed it all and I want to thank the whole team and all of you for all the fun, all the critiques, all the caring. Here’s to next season!
Agreed. Fun season, even if it didn’t end the way we wanted it to. Many coaches have had to reach the championship game and lose before getting over the hump. Good news is, when the good coaches finally do get over that hump, they often win multiple. I have full confidence Bob will bring a championship, if not multiple, to Minnesota before he’s done. He’s too good of a coach, a talent developer, and a recruiter.
Nothing insidious about things that are actually true! I know we live in a post fact world, but cmon SOH. There are a bunch of great human beings in the gophers program. What I have shared here in the past has been borne out, so it’s not rumor spreading when it’s true. Doesn’t mean 100% he will, but he’s been thinking about it for a long time and you could surmise much of it has nothing to do with hockey.
Their is a funny little inner circle of rube fandom with you and Mg. Sycophantic slobber knockers to the core. It’s kinda cute.
I predicted Cooley committing here a month before it happened publically. I predicted Johnson and the others that came back before it became public. I predicted the people that left before it came public. But yeah, don’t feed the troll. My source on Bob, is Bob. That good enough for you?
MG? Inner circle? Slobberknocker? Are you drunk? I'm hardly some rube most of the rubes dislike my approach to fandom. You should pay better attention.
I don't believe a thing you say especially that your source is Bob. I have been around too long to not see you for what you really are. I think you can tell which is why you get so butthurt whenever I respond to your stuff. And no I don't think you are really Papa L. I just say that to get you going.
If others want to buy it that is cool but you don't pass the smell test.
This joker thinks everyone likes you…. ?
I enjoyed that part personally! ?

Even if what you are saying is true, and I don’t believe for a second it is, I am sure Bob would be thrilled with you posting this speculation on a public message board. Your posts are the definition of insidious. You have some type of axe to grind with this program and you’re acting out on that with these jaded posts.
I was tired of your rumor laden posts last season, but this is way over the line.
My rumor laden posts turned out to be true…so. I love the gophers, but I call balls and strikes. I left rubeish, wishful thinking fandom in my childhood where it belongs.
Cannot bring myself to read the game thread.
And, to those bashing tBob for whatever (not specifically here), get over it. He just fielded the most complete Gopher team in 20 years. He got us on the right side of the MN team battles, taught us how to finally beat trap teams, coached on the last day of the season, and 100% deserved the Penrose award.
Some of the public commentary is atrocious.
People really think Potulny is proven enough to coach this team? I’m not looking for another Ben or Lindsay.

Don Lucia for example...
The team has been on a steady incline and it's bringing in even more talent Motzko is doing great!
And again if one game runs a season that was a year to watch them your priorities are out of whack.

It didn’t ruin the season or whatever but it was kinda like watching the final season of Game of Thrones. Bob did a great job coaching the team all year but hopefully he learned something from yesterday, I don’t think that was his best coaching performance.
Sometimes it takes teams a couple trips to the Frozen Four to get over the hump. Just ask Boston College, North Dakota and most recently UMass. Our time will come. Next year’s team will be really really good.

Talk of replacing tBob is ridiculous but that doesn’t mean he’s above criticism for his in-game coaching Sat night.

Is fire tBob actually a sentiment held by some? That is bananas. Program is in a good place. Does not mean he is impervious from criticism but he is the man for the job.

They closed out games like that in the 3rd all season. I think they thought they could do it again, but it played right into QU’s game. They almost pulled it off, but had a few things break against them. I am positive lessons were learned from this. Far too painful not to learn from it.

Anyone who is saying that is either A) a casual bandwagon fan that is emotional because they jumped on what they thought was a sure thing this season, or B) completely out of touch with reality (eg Bonin).
I have no doubt that Jup knows what is going on here today and GE knows what is being said here today since he liked a post a few back. If they didn’t think it is that bad then we all just need to ignore it or get over it.
It may be hyperbole or mere speculation but we just need to get over it. The loss last night will sting for a long time but the posts by a few people will be forgotten probably the end of the day.
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!

No doubt. And knowing Bob, he’ll be the first to tell you mistakes were made. If you don’t talk about the mistakes, you don’t learn from them and improve.
Some people act like this is the first team to lose a big game when favored. Gophers weren’t even HUGE favorites. This QU team was really good and deserves a lot of credit too.
Outside of Oliver Moore, any other players of note that are coming in next year?

Sam Rinzel, defensemen and 1st rounder for the Blackhawks last draft is most notable besides Moore.

Sam Rinzel is a 1st round pick and had a solid year in the USHL. Beckett Hendrickson (who looks like he is coming in) could have an impact. Strong class though cannot expect the same impact as this year's group.
Nah, they’d play back a little more strategy wise and maybe not pinch as much/forecheck as hard but they had like one shot all period I think and it was that blue line shot by LaCombe on the PP. The degree to which they turtled yesterday was far more drastic and it started earlier than the third period. I was hoping they’d play their game in OT but they never got the chance and honestly it seemed like the damage was already done on some level. This team never got outshot 2-1 all year and as good as Q is that shouldn’t have been the case, it wasn’t for like half the game.It didn’t ruin the season or whatever but it was kinda like watching the final season of Game of Thrones. I think we’re mostly in agreement here overall but there’s a pretty big diff between going into the trap and confusing the opposition and… what we all saw yesterday and I wish to burn from my memory.

Can’t argue with any of that.
Yeah I edited at the end because I mostly agree with what you said, even if it might not have come across that way.

I'm on the Fire Frost train and even I think firing Motzko is ridiculous.

Gopher fans will love Oliver Moore. He’s Logan Cooley without all the Harlem Globetrotters skill competition plays. I’ve seen him play a lot and he’s the most excited I’ve been about a player coming in since, well Cooley?. I like him more than Cooley personally. Huge Moore fan over here.
?
Fun player to watch. He will be missed.
All the best to Matthew. Top 5 favorite Gopher for me!

Great career for Knies. Wishing him the best.
Resigning and being fired are two seperate things are they not? Lol
No one said he’d resign because he just went to two consecutive frozen fours.
talking f w a Toronto fan in Tampa they are watching him closely and excited about getting himKnies will be a perfect fit in Toronto
I have a feeling that J22 did not mean that as a compliment.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.

He has every right to resign if he wants...I think it would have been hinted at a bit previous to now.
Absolutely. If someone is saying people shouldn't criticize Bob, that's just as nuts as suggesting he should be fired, or has cause to resign after this season. No coach is above criticism they all make bad choices in games. I'm sure he is questioning his choices as we speak.

I don’t think anyone has said Bob is beyond criticizing, so not really sure where that all came from. No coach is. Pointing out the ridiculous lengths the criticism has gone to does not mean he can’t be criticized.
