@cowgirl I totally get where you’re coming from. On the other hand we don’t know the the decision process that went into it. It could be the ladies chose those pictures.
How is the money used that one pays to Dinkytown athletes?
I just looked through the site. Just my opinion, I don’t like the 2 women b-ball players who’ve made their bio page look like OnlyFans!! Ones in a super short mini dress (holding a basketball??) ones in daisy duke cut offs.
Pretty hard for men's hockey to compete with that.
id donate some $$ to see a couple of hockey players rocking some cut offs?

Im the one that offered up my criticism. Oh I’m sure they did choose their own photos, it’s still disappointing they went that route. It was only 2, there are the majority who focused on being an athlete and not a dating site click.
When people tell me I’ll regret not having kids, I say that’s okay I know a really good place to cry. It’s my vacation home.

You’re ripping young women for being confident in themselves? Seems like a step backwards.
In my opinion, those young women have nothing to be ashamed of or apologize for. You can find similar pictures in every decade going back to the 20s. I feel we have no business body shaming young women.
I am curious why the volleyball player wasn't included. Her shorts are shorter than the dress. What about the gymnast who is more revealing than either of the BB players? What about Pharrel Payne whose shorts are shorter than the dress?
I assume that if only fans had pictures like that they would be out of business. The comparison is out of line in my opinion.

FWIW, I did not take this post to be about body shaming or anything like that. To me it came across more as time/place as in the focus of the site should be on them as athletes hence the lack of comment about VB shorts.
Getting things back on track… a lot still has to shake out and I bet it happens in the next 10 days. They’ve all had time to process the loss and decide what’s best for their careers. Still waiting on Cooley, Nelson and Brodzinski up front, and now it’s sounding like there’s some question marks with Hendrickson coming in this year or not (we probably won’t know about that til late summer is my hunch).
Close’s decision will cause dominoes to fall in the goalie situation. D just needs one more body but I doubt it’s anyone that plays over their current top 6, that’s why I want them to grab a freshman that can develop and give them something later in his career.
A potential line of Moore Cooley and Snuggerud would be very entertaining as well as productive next season.
If Cooley does indeed come back I hope they don’t put Moore in the Knies spot. Moore is a true center and i feel like playing him at wing wouldn’t be getting the most out of his skill set. Plus being able to go Cooley-Moore as a 1-2 punch down the middle would be insane and something college hockey has rarely ever seen. Even if that means moving Huglen to wing I’m all for it. Who knows maybe that’ll jumpstart Huglen’s offense. Something like:
Huglen-Cooley-Snuggerud
Pitlick-Moore-Lamb
Nevers-Nelson-Brodzinski
Pinoniemi-Mittelstadt-Kurth
Koster-Chesley
Mittelstadt-Rinzel
Thomas-Fish
Close
(backup situation gets mucky if Close stays)
This team is, dare I say, better than last years team? Offensively I think they are and that’s a really sneaky good d group too. This is assuming the rumors about Hendrickson are true. This is how things are sounding they’re going to shake out. If you guys got my hopes up for nothing with some of the returners I’ll never forgive you?

If Cooley does indeed come back for his Sophomore season, what a great "problem" to have for Bob to figure those line combos out. Either way, this team would be dangerous offensively again. Crossing fingers...
I think Barto hits portal if this happens and Nathan Airey will be coming in...
I think that’s likely too. Still question marks surrounding Geno Pichora. Childhood friends with Cooley so that might be used as leverage for Logan to return lol. Obviously if he comes in he’s coming in as a walk on.

Agreed, though with Huglen, Nelson, and Moore and none of these guys likely being fourth liners it creates an interesting predicament of who now plays wing. Not a bad problem to have obviously.

Cooley-Moore would be a nice 1-2 punch but if all the centers are coming back I’d leave them there. I don’t think they’d move a right shot playmaker in Huglen and move him to LW. I’d put Moore with the top line and keep the chemistry of all the other lines. Moore started out last year as a wing but after him and the top line no one else brought much offense and he pretty much had to play center and was really good but if he has someone like Cooley passing to him I think he could be just as good on the wing.
Don’t get me wrong Moore-Cooley-Snuggerud would be a flat out ridiculous line too. Really can’t go wrong either way. What a nice problem to have if you’re Bob.
From everything I have read, Moore is able to play center or wing equally well. If there is the luxury of returning all of Cooley/Huglen/Nelson, having those as the Top 3 centers would be fantastic. Moore can always be moved to center if needed.

Nah he should retire so someone younger like Grant Potulny can recruit 28 year old sophomores! 😉
Rumor has it if the Coyotes get the #1 overall pick in the Bedard sweepstakes then Cooley likely signs. The Draft Lottery is tonight on ESPN at 7. Something to watch for Gopher fans.
I was wondering the same and could only think that he would want the chance to play with Bedard and that it would provide some life/excitement for the team. Maybe the Coyotes end up with Fantilli.

Thanks for sharing. Do you interpret the information you’ve heard as if the Coyotes don’t get it Cooley likely comes back, or that it is still 50/50ish even in that scenario?
I say 50/50 only because of how long the decision is taking.
Any rumors on if his decision impacts the decision of the senior forwards?
The Minnesota sports fan in me is nervous. The Gophers roster without Cooley/Brodzinski/Nelson is decent.
However, the portal is barren if we had to find 2-3 forwards. Also, the BIG is absolutely stacked. All of the teams have a good chance at making the NCAA tournament. Bucky and Sparty especially got better via the portal.
Brodzinski, Nelson and Close is pretty much a 95% happening that they are coming back at this point. But we are just waiting for a bit more confirmation. I think Cooley all depends on the Arizona draft status... So once Cooley gets it figured out, I have a feeling the dominoes will fall and we will hear about everything at once.
Do not like how this board is run? Get your own board! ♃

I was thinking the same thing. If the yotes end up with the 2nd pick things could get really interesting lol.

I should change my phrasing. It makes it “more likely” he signs if they get the #1 pick but he could still stay. Same way he could still leave if they don’t end up with #1 overall.
Just a guess- if they get Bedard he will be in the NHL next season and it would make sense to have him and Cooley go through their first season together. Anyone else in this years draft isn't likely to start in the NHL, so Cooley going back to school lets the yotes tank for another season.

its a interesting thought strategy as it would make their contracts come up in the same year (for extension purposes) if you’re expecting them both to be the impact guys they should. But it also helps from the “taking your lumps” now stage. Also a lot to put on the plate of two young guys at the exact same time
I am not too worried. My estimation of the true lottery chances are Chicago 70% and Montreal 30% for Bedard. Everyone else 0%. Maybe higher on Montreal since recent stars seem to have made their way to the teams in Canada.

I feel like that team tanks every year by simply being inept and not spending to the cap so that shouldn’t be too hard for them to pull off.
Jupiter mentioned it on Twitter, but here is the link to a podcast detailing Dinkytown Athletes. Should answer a lot of the questions regarding NIL collectives.
