Nevers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
The Ohio State goalie should go back to knocking the net off it is their best defensive strategy.
If the nets stays on Gopher goals will be a coming!!!!!
Why does it not happen on every shot? The goalie knows he can only can get away with it so many times so he only uses it when he really needs it (a good scoring chance).
Goalies aren't dumb.
Which is what I said...the goal is an issue and goalies take advantage of it. Fix the issue and it doesn't fly off.
tOSU is melting down.
Rohlik 2 minutes for being a DB.
Keep your stick on the ice...
The last penalty was for an Ohio State player knocking the net off during the second Gopher goal. Was that another accident? The Ohio state game plan is clearly to knock the net off when in danger.
Jesus Koster is on fire!
Koster again!!!!! 4-0

What are you talking about the last penalty was on Rohlik for abusing the official. The one before that was a hook and the one before that was a trip.
Read what I said again...I never said anything was an accident. I said there is an issue with that goal (this has happened in multiple games always on that end) and opposing goalies take advantage of it. I'm not speaking Greek here...
And btw Close has knocked that net off too with easy pushes. The moorings blow. We just don't use it like other teams do cause we don't have to.

It's an issue they have been trying to fix for the past few years. Obviously it can't be fixed so the refs have to watch for it more. The teams know about this so the refs should too.
This is why I say if the refs aren't going to call it quicker then our goalie needs to take advantage of it too to even it out.
That escalated quickly.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
That was one of the most fun periods all season. The goalie being a jackwagon really fired up the fans. It’s loud tonight.

Why we can win without that. Of it helped as much as you think it did we would get bit by it now often but we don't.
Shouldn't our rink staff be better than this?

You are correct they ended up not calling the penalty that Pat M saw.

It was bound to happen...tOSU was barely hanging on and was trying to skate with us. All we needed was one and it was going to get ugly we are just more talented.
I got a bad feeling they might get chippy now and tomorrow...I hope the team pays smart the rest of the way. This game is done so just keep everyone safe and move on.

Never trust The Rat he is somethings watching a different game than the rest of us 😉
This is the first time the stripes called delay of game this year or last. The goal hole and morning is an issue. And personally, they are just trying to band aid fix tell the end of the season. Like @cowgirl mentioned and I've heard it as well. It has to do with the refrigeration piping underneath. Though big goalies like Dobes and Portillo know it and take advantage of it.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Has Faber ever scored two goals in a period for the Gophers. Lacombe is out so Faber and Koster pick up the scoring. This team is loaded. Some guy(s) are killing the opponent nearly every night.
The top line doesn't have a goal and it's 4-0.
I’d like to see us bury some more five on five goals now.

I was thinking the same thing. Though late in the 2nd Johnson was about to break away in the neutral zone, his head was down and an OSU player could've cleaned his clock and didn't.

Your point stands, but I believe Snuggerud will get credit for the one that appeared to be Nevers
I heard them mention the LaCombe injury was a “freak” accident in practice and they “hope” to get him back for the NCAA tourney.
JFC. We don’t need this.

They did credit it to Nevers officially, which based on the video isn't correct.
Net comes loose again

Coming from a bonehead announcer who likes to hear himself speak. I'll take it with a grain salt until it comes from a very reliable source.

Dobes is a bigger db than Portillo. Portillo is just cocky as hell.
Keep your stick on the ice...
That was a very long delayed penalty. And OSU was making every second more and more nerve wracking.

Huglen a left handed shot gives his stick to Johnson who is a right handed shot. That doesn't seem like a good idea. ?
Is that really what happen?
Fish really deserves a goal. I'm really cheering for the guy tonight and tomorrow.

It happens all the time. They don't have time to make sure it's the correct stick. The wrong handed stick is better than no stick... just ask Dave Spehar.

Sean Ritchlin really likes to hear himself talk and make a fool of himself.

This reminds me of a Wild-Ducks game many years ago where Koivu and Bobby Ryan got in a battle and the result was Koivu losing his stick and stealing Ryan’s. Ryan then picked up Koivu’s stick and scoring with it. They were opposite shots and Ryan’s celebration was skating up to Koivu and showing him his own stick. ?

Well played Bobby Ryan
Closer now has 6 shut outs this season. Only two goalies have more this season.
He is 9th all time in Gopher history (with 9 career shut outs) having played less than a year and a half.
Yes the defense is really good but he is underrated.
Coach just said we will get LaCombe back but he will be out for a couple of weeks.
Totally forgot about that, until you mentioned it.

I believe it ended up getting switched to Snuggy.

According to the final scoresheet... Snuggerud, Koster & Cooley.

Interesting how college hockey players can play hurt or even injured and NBA players (cough KAT... cough Anthony Davis... cough LeBron) can't even play hurt.

I liked Coach's comment in the radio post game interview "I didn't have the best view from the bench but I find it an interesting coincidence it gets knocked off when we have a good chance."
Which was my point all along. Of course the net isn't going to get knock off when he isn't doing anything (not preparing for a shot) but we get plenty of shots and it was only happening on the best chances.
The two times he knocked it off in the third period there was no scoring chance.I liked Coach's comment in the radio post game interview "I didn't have the best view from the bench but I find it an interesting coincidence it gets knocked off when we have a good chance."

Justen freaking Close man. I know they plan to roll Bartoskziewicz/Airey next year but how do you say no to another year of Close?
IMO this is the best group of defensemen we have had during my time of watching the Gophers mid 80s on.
Yes the 2002/2003 Championship team had a top three/four that match up with this groups top 3/4 but IMO this group is better overall. This group is 8 deep and would be 9 if Matt Staudacher wasn't red shirting because you can only use so many at a time.
The past two weekends they have been down two key defensemen and have totally shut down top 10 teams giving up only 4 goals total in three game and one was when they brought in the back goalie who hadn't played in over a month and a half.

I completely agree. If Close wants to play next season I would let him. I am starting to wonder if a scenario of Barto transferring and Close being brought back could end up playing out but who knows at this point.
I don't get your issue with the announcing gator...I think he is fine. Better than most of the yahoos out there.
I wish Matvick was our announcer. I like the guy we have but Matvick calls a nice even keeled game.
I don't know that I would say this is the best d we have had...but they certainly play the best d I have seen and it isn't close. They play almost perfect positional positionally and they have a knack of knowing where the puck is going before it gets there. Add the fact that they an outskate anyone and our forwards are responsible in their own end and it is just a joy to watch. They diagnose on the fly better than any team I have seen at the college level.

Win a National Championship and ride off into the sunset is the plan right now
Agreed on Matvick. I’m a fan.
The scoring in the second was a lot of fun. But overall, what a complete game by the Gophers. I thought they looked a little off at during a short stretch early in the second. But then Faber (O Captain, my Captain) just takes over and drives the net to score and put the team on his back. Is he back? Or is he back? Then the floodgates opened and the real fun began. Once we killed that penalty in the third it seemed like it was basically curtains. Everyone looked great tonight. The whole team played really solid in front of Close. No really dumb penalties. Just an overall really solid game. All against the number seventh ranked team and one of the penalty killing teams in the country. Let’s do the same tomorrow night on senior night.
So Motzko confirmed we will get Lacombe back?
