Team absolutely deserved the regulation win today. We’re clearly the better team. That win is actually really big in the PWR as it eliminates any chance of ND from catching us in the comparison grid
Hopefully that’ll get Snuggy going. Good effort by the team tonight.
Lol, now 4 straight goalie interference calls go against us?
I get that one was a big hit on the goalie, but if the call earlier is good goal because the player was pushed into the goal, how is that one not the same thing?
5?
This will help Snugg’s confidence. You could see the relief on his face when he scored. The break will help. Refocus & take no prisoners from here on.
Coach just said who knows what is happening in hockey right now (clearly referring to the goal/no goal calls).
Bob said they overcame some "obstacles" tonight.

I don't know who knows but I know who does not.

Those refs should be embarrassed
Overall disappointing result but hopefully this will be a spark for snuggerud. Minnesota needs him to be scoring in the playoffs
Closer had assists on both of the Gophers last two goals. He now has 4 assists for the season.
He not only is tied for the all time career record in Gopher shut outs but is now setting up goals. 😀
Closer with 2 points today. Ever happened in Gopher history to have a goalie with 2 points in a game?
Someone really needs to have a meeting with the refs and clarify in very unambiguous language what does and does not constitute goalie interference. Our guys are supposed to be 'good enough skaters and strong enough in their positioning' to avoid going into the crease or contacting the goalie when hit. But no other teams' players need to do that.
Drinking my enemy worked tonight. Was drinking Saga, cracked open a Foggy Geezer before OT started.
Am I the only one that thinks the Gophers brought the weekend result on themselves? We can play better than that and should.
There is no way I would have wanted the called off goal to stand if it was going the other way.
Gophers need to recharge on the week off and come back playing hard. What they had on display this weekend will not get them far in the postseason.

I am PROUD of how the team battled all game and over came multiple "interesting" calls by the refs to win.
No team should have to battle not only their opponent but the refs week after week after week.
This is now 3 of last 4 weekends were multiple goal/no goal calls by the refs have been a MAJOR factor.
Huglen has turned up the heat the last few weekends. Looks like a new player.
does an overtime win count the same as a shootout win in the pwr?
PP now 0 for its last 14. That needs to change in a hurry, especially with Michigan next up
Well if tBob wants to "get clarification", he now has a bye week he can use if he wants unlike 2 weeks ago. It's definitely frustrating when something isn't called consistently, especially within a game. Maybe there's something we're not seeing, but we need that clarification.

SO wins are ties in PWR. OTW are worth 2/3 of a win with the loser getting 1/3

Stats have not been fixed. But Close DID NOT assist on the Snuggerud OT goal as it is still listed. The puck hit Close on the save. Chesley played it around to Huglen and Huglen passed it to Snuggerud. Huglen is not on the summary for that goal and it should be corrected. Whether if it will or not is TBD.
I let the MN SID know and he said he informed the stat crew at ND. So we will see.
On the GPL stats, I gave the assist to Huglen.

boooo let Closer be in the record book in more places 😆
It's probably been close to a decade since I watched an NCAA game and thought the officiating was anywhere close to competent.B1G Refs... Corrupt or just incompetent?

College Hockey News has it changed now showing Huglen and Chesley as the assists on the game winning goal.
Closer did still get one assist tonight.
Great rebound win for the Gophers. This is the most overtime games that I can remember the Gophers playing in without a loss. If all of those ties were wins, the Gophers would be ranked #1 right now. This just shows how evenly matched the Big Ten is this year.
It didn't look like Chesley made the pass all the way to Snuggerud, but man it would have been fun if Close really got another assist tonight since it's looking like it'd be very hard for him to break the shutout record with the games that are left. Though never say never.

Nope... Huglen made the long pass to Snuggerud.

Found these wise words on another site--
Even if they win in 3 on 3 this goes down as a brutal weekend.
Top line did nothing 5 on 5
Close shaky
PP looked like high schoolers

There is a really good chance we will play Penn State in the 1st round of the Big Ten playoffs and Closer did a pretty good job of getting shut outs the last time we played them. 😉

This video clearly shows Chesley with the puck behind the net passing it to Huglen who then passes it to Snuggy.
Closer with 2 points today. Ever happened in Gopher history to have a goalie with 2 points in a game?
That overtime one was Snuggerud from Huglen and Chesley if you watch it back. They should change it eventually.
After yesterday's result, anything would have been an improvement so in that light, it was a good night.
The entire team responded, but I thought the defense struggled a little bit tonight. There were too many turnovers at both blue lines and some sloppy neutral zone play. The effort was there, but the team wasn't super sharp.
Nelson was noticeable in a good way tonight.

They already have. The only place I've seen that still has it wrong is CHN's live box (and app), but their final box has it right.

The Gophers are 4-0-5 in 3 on 3 overtime.
In related news coach is currently filing a request to the Big Ten office to have games be 3 on 3 from the start.
An added plus of this rule change is with 4 less guys on the ice the chance of goalie interference issues goes way down.
They did senior night after the game. They have 12 seniors.

The Huglen no goal late in the 3rd period is shown at the 1:50 mark of this video.
I'm interested to see what Fightclub says about the goalie interference calls. The previous three instances before tonight he seemed to say the refs got them right. He is a ref himself after all.
The Huglen goal is debatable, but the correct call would be a good goal. The Notre Dame goal isn't really debatable at all with the correct call being no goal. Neither are really tough calls for a competent official, and the fact that they still got them wrong after review tells you just how out of their depth these guys are.
