That’s not offside, people. Knies deflected it back in the zone with his skate, and the skater offside in the picture dashed up before the other Michigan skater touched it.

Nothing about that image tells you anything. Other than the puck entered on a delay.
Literally EVERYONE tagged up before anyone on Michigan touched the puck.
Advanced about 8 frames and it shows a michigan player touching the puck, and his 2 team mates in the neutral zone.
This isn't a Squirt game. NCAA is delayed offsides... has been for years... decades... forever maybe?
I’m okay with missing out on that banner if it pisses them off and gets them back on mission.

Hope this is the case. 1st period they played sound hockey and then they just had multiple lapses a period the rest of the game. Michigan punished them for most of them. Thought we had the better chances throughout

If we lost the right way, fine. But Portabello's 3 net-kicks....really? We didn't play our best, don't get me wrong, but that POS goalie can burn in h-e-double-hockey-sticks

The strength our team, the defense wasn't very good tonight. They did not handle the forecheck very well, and their exits were not great. LaCombe, was rusty as expected I guess. Hopefully this lights a fire for the weeks to come. Last year the result was the same, and they ended up in Boston. Hit the reset button and we will be fine.

I was hoping for a game like this, except it would've been nice had the Gophers been the team to score late. It should get the boys back on track and let them know that they're actually going to have to work for it.I’m okay with missing out on that banner if it pisses them off and gets them back on mission.
Faber and LaCombe being the worst players on the ice is a bit concerning though.
When we meet again, it’s our turn.
Since the Gophers ended up #1 and Michigan ended up #4 they should be on the same side of the bracket and would play in the Frozen Four semi finals if they both win their regional.
Faber losing 14 pounds last week (sickness) and Lacombe not playing a game for a month due to injury was certainly a factor. Both were off their game tonight. I think they both will be better next week.
Faber was not good
Don’t care about the result, more disappointed in how they played. Whatever. It’s over. Canisius is gonna get an angry pack of Gophers on Thursday. And when we see these guys in Tampa, you know we’ll have a chip on our shoulder.
Waiting for clip of Pitlick goal.
edit: See it now. Unbelievable!

I think Michigan may end up at 3.

Place blew up, I mean absolutely erupted after this.
Pretty sure MI is at #3 overall.

That was suboptimal but not world ending.
Take no prisoners in the next four games.

My guess would be a norovirus strain or food poisoning for it to happen that quick.
Tough loss. I agree with others that Jackson LaCombe was not at the top of his game and Brock Faber seemed to struggle too. I also thought Justen was not playing well either giving up lots of bad rebounds. But, Michigan had a bit of puck luck on most of their goals. The puck could have cleared but just bad bounces.
I hope we can get LaCombe rested.
Give me Canisius I want Canisius
Selection show is at 5:30 tomorrow.
I think one of Michigan's strategy's was shooting wide of the net to get the rebound on the other side. I'm sure Bob will show that on tape this week in case others try to do that. It seemed our defense was just a bit slow reacting to those plays.

Til next year, Mariucci.
Maybe a couple of tough calls by the refs but overall we lost because a good chunk of our team was not on their game. The majority of the D, aside from maybe Johnson, looked lost. Maybe the stats will prove otherwise but the 18-24-22 line did not impress me much. Also frustrating that all of our goals were on the rush and we didn’t capitalize on the zone time we did have. Oh well, fun game nonetheless and on to the NCAAs.
Offense looks solid and D is soft. We need senior leadership like physical play, big bodies and domination. Hope the seniors and the D can figure it out and we win four more games.

You are correct. With Michigan ending up #3 the Gophers and Michigan should be on opposite sides of the bracket meaning if we see the Wolverines again it will be for all the marbles.
Hopefully Eyeore is alive ?
Also, what’s the ruling on scoring when the net is off? Cooley’s first goal against Wisconsin was when the net had been knocked off by a Badger. So is there a reason why when Knies got pulled down and either Cooley or Snuggerud put it in the net it didn’t count? Is it because Knies flew into Portillo?
I don't understand how Portillo gets away with it. Clearly a pattern. The refs should know it.
Surprised Bob kept LaComb out there at the end. He looked gassed skating back to force icing on Mich. Not in game shape.
I don’t see a world where these two teams aren’t battling it out in the title game next year seeing what both teams are returning and have coming in.

Curious about this too.
Nothing else to add. Good game and would love to get our revenge in Tampa.
Reminder that Portillo is a bum.
If the defending team is responsible for the net coming off, and the shot is taken before the net comes off, then the goal counts. Also, what’s the ruling on scoring when the net is off? Between that and Portillo knocking the net off 4x that was kinda the story. Michigan kinda outplayed us too not gonna lie but that made a difference too. Also, what’s the ruling on scoring when the net is off? Also anyone who is offended by a f*** Portillo chant after tonight is a total pussy.
Well dang nabbit, I really wanted one last free scoop of Culvers. The Gophers need to shoot more, instead of always looking for the perfect play. They played a good game, a few bad calls and non calls, bad turnovers, and unlucky puck bounces. Now they need to forget about this game and go on a nice 4 game winning streak! Go Gophers!

Keep your stick on the ice...
Few thoughts:
1. Faber and Lacombe.... WOOF... I hope they are ready for Thursday
2. Portillo is a full blown cheater, can't believe he gets away with it every time
3. Great to see Lamb and Pitlick score
4. Incredible crowd and game in general
5. While the loss sucked, I think it can work in our favor. Time for a 4 game winning streak!!
